1A plasmonic route for the integrated wireless communication of subdiffraction-limited signals显示文摘Perfect lenses,superlenses and time-reversal mirrors can support and spatially separate evanescent waves,which is the basis for detecting subwavelength information in the far field.However,the inherent limitations of these methods have prevented the development of systems to dynamically distinguish subdiffraction-limited signals.Utilizing the physical merits of spoof surface plasmon polaritons(SPPs),we demonstrate that subdiffraction-limited signals can be transmitted on planar integrated SPP channels with low loss,low channel interference,and high gain and can be radiated with a very low environmental sensitivity.Furthermore,we show how deep subdiffraction-limited signals that are spatially coupled can be distinguished after line-of-sight wireless transmission.For a visualized demonstration,we realize the high-quality wireless communication of two movies on subwavelength channels over the line of sight in real time using our plasmonic scheme,showing significant advantages over the conventional methods.Hao Chi Zhang Le Peng Zhang Pei Hang He Jie Xu Cheng Qian Francisco J.Garcia-Vidal Tie Jun Cui 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:8
2Active digital spoof plasmonics显示文摘Digital coding and digital modulation are the foundation of modern information science.The combination of digital technology with metamaterials provides a powerful scheme for spatial and temporal controls of electromagnetic waves.Such a technique,however,has thus far been limited to the control of free-space light.Its application to plasmonics to shape subwavelength fields still remains elusive.Here,we report the design and experimental realization of a tunable conformal plasmonic metasurface;which is capable of digitally coding and modulating designer surface plasmons at the deep-subwavelength scale.Based on dynamical switching between two discrete dispersion states in a controlled manner;we achieve digital modulations ofboth amplitude and phase of surface waves with nearly 100%modulation depth on a single device.Our study not only introduces a new approach for active dispersion engineering,but also constitutes an important step towards the realization of subwavelength integrated plasmonic circuits.Hao Chi Zhang Tie Jun Cui Yu Luo Jingjing Zhang Jie Xu Pei Hang He Le Peng Zhang 2020National Science Review2020,7,2:5
3Constructing Straight Pores and Improving Mechanical Properties of GangueBased Porous Ceramics显示文摘The large-scale accumulation and pollution of solid mining waste is an urgent issue.Coal gangue is a prominent type of solid waste,and shows promise for use in high value-added products due to its content of many important compounds,including SiO_(2) and Al2O3.This study proposed the preparation of highly porous ceramics from coal gangue,coal slime,and coconut palm fibers.The ceramics were produced at a sintering temperature of 950℃ with a fiber content of 6 wt%,which led to the formation of porous ceramics with a porosity of 66.93%,volume density of 1.0329 g/cm^(3),compressive strength of 1.1025 MPa,and thermal conductivity is 0.3919 K(W/mk).A finite element model of the porous ceramics was established using the Abaqus module in ANSYS software,where the stress distribution and compressive strength were simulated.Further,the relationship between porosity and compressive strength was analyzed.The thermal properties of the porous ceramics were analyzed using the Fluent module,where the simulated changes in porosity under various sintering temperatures were consistent with the experimental data.The preparation of this highly porous ceramic from solid waste coal gangue shows promise for the minimizing the impact of waste gas and wastewater pollution in the future.Hang Xu Huiling Du Le Kang Qiudi Cheng Danni Feng Siyu Xia 2021Journal of Renewable Materials2021,9,12:4
4Investigation of Portevin–Le Chatelier effect in rolled α-phase Mg-Li alloy during tensile and compressive deformation显示文摘Avoiding the Portevin-Le Chatelier(PLC)effect is very important concern for wrought Mg-Li alloys.In this study,the special PLC effect was found in rolled Mg-5Li-3Al-2Zn(LAZ532)alloy during tensile and compressive deformation.By observing microstructure evolution of the alloy during tensile and compressive deformation,it was found that prismaticand pyramidalslips were activated during tensile deformation,resulting in plenty of dislocation accumulation.In the deformation process after compressive yielding,the deformations in coarse grains and fine grains were dominated by{1012}extension twinning and grain boundary slip,respectively.Based on experimental result analysis,the sudden appearance of PLC effect in the later stage of axial tensile deformation(along rolled direction)was caused by interaction between solute atoms and dislocations.In the process of axial compressive deformation(along rolled direction),PLC effect presented the complex and changeable phenomenon of appeared-disappeared-appeared,which was mainly caused by the continuous nucleation of twin in the material,the activation of grain boundary slip and the shear deformation of twin,respectively.Xiaoqiang Li Chunlong Cheng Qichi Le Lei Bao Peipeng Jin Ping Wang Liang Ren Hang Wang Xiong Zhou Chenglu Hu 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,52,17:3
5Synthesis and characterization of Fe_3O_4@SiO_2 magnetic composite nanoparticles by a one-pot process显示文摘Fe_3O_4@SiO_2 core–shell composite nanoparticles were successfully prepared by a one-pot process. Tetraethyl-orthosilicate was used as a surfactant to synthesize Fe_3O_4@SiO_2 core–shell structures from prepared Fe_3O_4 nanoparticles. The properties of the Fe_3O_4 and Fe_3O_4@SiO_2 composite nanoparticles were studied by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The prepared Fe_3O_4 particles were approximately 12 nm in size, and the thickness of the SiO_2 coating was approximately 4 nm. The magnetic properties were studied by vibrating sample magnetometry. The results show that the maximum saturation magnetization of the Fe_3O_4@SiO_2 powder(34.85 A·m2·kg–1) was markedly lower than that of the Fe_3O_4 powder(79.55 A·m2·kg–1), which demonstrates that Fe_3O_4 was successfully wrapped by SiO_2. 6Cross-Scale Synthesis of Organic High-k Semiconductors Based on Spiro-Gridized Nanopolymers显示文摘High dielectric constants in organic semiconductors have been identified as a central challenge for the improvement in not only piexoelectric,preolecric,and freeltric efcts but also photoclecric conversion eficiency in OPVs,carrier mobility in OFETS,and charge density in charge-trapping memories.Herein,we report an ultralong persistence length(≈41 nm)efet of spiro-fused organic nanopolymers on dielectric properties,together with excitonic and charge carrier behaviors.The state-of-the-art nanopolymers,namely,nanopolyspirogrids(NPSGs),are synthesized via the simple crossscale Friedel-Crafts polygridlization of AjB-type nanomonomers.The high dielectric constant(k=8.43)of NPSG is firstly achieved by locking spiro-polygridization efect that results in the enhancement of dipole polarization.When doping into a polystyrene-based dielectric layer,such a high-k feature of NPSG increases the feld-ffct carrier mobility from 0.20 to 0.90cm^(2)Vl s'in pentacene OFET devices.Meanwhile,amorphous NPSG film exhibits an ultralow energy disorder(<50 meV)for an exellent zero-field hole mobility of 3.94×10^(-1)cm^(2)V^(-1)s^(-1).surpassing most of the amorphousπconjugated polymers Onganic nanopolymers with high dielectric constants open a new way to break through the bottleneck of eficiency and multifunctionality in the blueprint of the fourth generation semiconductors.Dongqing Lin Wenhua Zhang Hang Yin Haixia Hu Yang Li He Zhang Le Wang Xinmiao Xie Hongkai Hu Yongxia Yan Haifeng Ling Jin'an Liu Yue Qian Lei Tang Yongxia Wang Chaoyang Dong Linghai Xie Hao Zhang Shasha Wang Ying Wei Xuefeng Guo Dan Lu Wei Huang 2022Research2022,,2:3
7Macro-physical field of large diameter magnesium alloy billet electromagnetic direct-chill casting:A comparative study显示文摘A comprehensive two-dimensional axisymmetric mathematical model that couples transient electromagnetic force with fluid flow,heat transfer,and solidification was established to describe the interaction of multiphysics field during DC casting.The melt flow,heat transfer,and solidification characteristics under differential phase pulse magnetic field and differential phase low-frequency electromagnetic field(DP-PMF and DP-LFEF)were numerically investigated by means of numerical simulation during electromagnetic direct-chill(DC)casting of AZ31 alloy at the same casting conditions.The effects of differential phase electromagnetic fields on Lorentz forces distributions,melt flow,heat transfer,and liquid sump shape were discussed systematically.Based on measured current waveform,the results were compared with those obtained without magnetic field(MF)and under conventional pulse magnetic field(PMF)and low-frequency electromagnetic field(LFEF)under the same conditions.The results show that the application of magnetic fields can significantly change the solidification process of DC casting.Differential phase magnetic fields(DP-LFEF and DP-PMF)can effectively reduce the temperature of the melt in the liquid sump,and the shallower liquid sump depth can be obtained under the differential phase magnetic fields.A large velocity vibration amplitude and a lower temperature are available simultaneously under DP-PMF,resulting in more uniform temperature distribution.Yonghui Jia Xingrui Chen Qichi Le Hang Wang Lei Bao 2020Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,3:3
8Altered Motor Performance,Sleep EEG,and Parkinson’s Disease Pathology Induced by Chronic Sleep Deprivation in Lrrk2^(G2019S) Mice显示文摘Parkinson’s disease(PD)is a multifaceted disease in which environmental variables combined with genetic predisposition cause dopaminergic(DAergic)neuron loss in the substantia nigra pars compacta.The mutation of leucine-rich repeat kinase 2(Lrrk2)is the most common autosomal dominant mutation in PD,and it has also been reported in sporadic cases.A growing body of research suggests that circadian rhythm disruption,particularly sleep-wake abnormality,is common during the early phase of PD.Our present study aimed to evaluate the impact of sleep deprivation(SD)on motor ability,sleep performance,and PD pathologies in Lrrk2^(G2019S) transgenic mice.After two months of SD,Lrrk2^(G2019S) mice at 12 months of age showed an exacerbated PD-like phenotype with motor deficits,a reduced striatal DA level,degenerated DAergic neurons,and altered sleep structure and biological rhythm accompanied by the decreased protein expression level of circadian locomotor output cycles kaput Lrrk2 gene in the brain.All these changes persisted and were even more evident in 18-month-old mice after 6 months of follow-up.Moreover,a significant increase inα-synuclein aggregation was found in SD-treated transgenic mice at 18 months of age.Taken together,our findings indicate that sleep abnormalities,as a risk factor,may contribute to the pathogenesis and progression of PD.Early detection of sleep disorders and improvement of sleep quality may help to delay disease progression and provide long-term clinical benefits.Xinyao Liu Hang Yu Yuanyuan Wang Song Li Cheng Cheng Murad Al-Nusaif Weidong Le 2022Neuroscience Bulletin2022,38,10:3
9Composition and immuno-stimulatory properties of extracellular DNA from mouse gut flora显示文摘AIM To demonstrate that specific bacteria might release bacterial extracellular DNA(e DNA) to exert immunomodulatory functions in the mouse small intestine.METHODS Extracellular DNA was extracted using phosphate buffered saline with 0.5 mmol/L dithiothreitol combined with two phenol extractions. TOTO-1 iodide, a cell-impermeant and high-affinity nucleic acid stain, was used to confirm the existence of e DNA in the mucus layers of the small intestineand colon in healthy Male C57 BL/6 mice. Composition difference of e DNA and intracellular DNA(i DNA) of the small intestinal mucus was studied by Illumina sequencing and terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism(T-RFLP). Stimulation of cytokine production by e DNA was studied in RAW264.7 cells in vitro.RESULTS TOTO-1 iodide staining confirmed existence of e DNA in loose mucus layer of the mouse colon and thin surface mucus layer of the small intestine. Illumina sequencing analysis and T-RFLP revealed that the composition of the e DNA in the small intestinal mucus was significantly different from that of the i DNA of the small intestinal mucus bacteria. Illumina Miseq sequencing showed that the e DNA sequences came mainly from Gram-negative bacteria of Bacteroidales S24-7. By contrast, predominant bacteria of the small intestinal flora comprised Grampositive bacteria. Both e DNA and i DNA were added to native or lipopolysaccharide-stimulated Raw267.4 macrophages, respectively. The e DNA induced significantly lower tumor necrosis factor-α/interleukin-10(IL-10) and IL-6/IL-10 ratios than i DNA, suggesting the predominance for maintaining immune homeostasis of the gut.CONCLUSION Our results indicated that degraded bacterial genomic DNA was mainly released by Gram-negative bacteria, especially Bacteroidales-S24-7 and Stenotrophomonas genus in gut mucus of mice. 10A novel glasses-free virtual reality rehabilitation system on improving upper limb motor function among patients with stroke:A feasibility pilot study显示文摘Background:Virtual reality(VR)technology is increasingly used in stroke rehabilitation.This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using the glasses-free VR training to improve motor function of upper limb in patients with stroke.Methods:Twelve patients with stroke were recruited to participate in the intervention of 3 weeks.At the baseline and post intervention,two times of evaluation including Fugl-Meyer upper-extremity scale(FMS-UE),transcranial magnetic stimulation(TMS)measurement and motion evaluation were performed.Results:No significant difference was observed between two groups at baseline evaluation.After the intervention,the FMS-UE scores presented a greater improvement in the VR group compared with the control group.TMS measurement showed that there was significant difference in cortex latency and central motor conduction time between two groups after the intervention,but no significant difference in the amplitude of motor event potential was observed.In addition,there was a significant correlation between game scores and FMS-UE scores.Conclusions:The novel glasses-free VR training was at least as effective as conventional occupational therapy in upper limb motor function,improving nerve conduction time and corticospinal excitability in patient with stroke.Haoyu Xie Hantao Zhang Haowen Liang Hang Fan Jianying Zhou Wai Leung Ambrose Lo Le Li 2021Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2021,,3:2
11A novel spoof surface plasmon polariton structure to reach ultra-strong field confinements显示文摘Ultrathin corrugated metallic structures have been proved to support spoof surface plasmon polariton (SPP) modes on two-dimension (2D) planar microwave circuits.However,to provide stronger field confinement,larger width of strip is required to load deeper grooves,which is cumbersome in modern large-scale integrated circuits and chips.In this work,a new spoof SPP transmission line (TL) with zigzag grooves is proposed.This new structure can achieve stronger field confinement compared to conventional one with the same strip width.In other words,the proposed spoof SPP TL behaves equivalently to a conventional one with much larger size.Dispersion analysis theoretically indicates the negative correlation between the ability of field confinement and cutoff frequencies of spoof SPP TLs.Numerical simulations indicate that the cutoff frequency of the proposed TL is lower than the conventional one and can be easily modified with the fixed size.Furthermore,two samples of the new and conventional spoof SPP TLs are fabricated for experimental demonstration.Measured S-parameters and field distributions verify the ultra-strong ability of field confinement of the proposed spoof SPP TL.Hence,this novel spoof SPP structure with ultra-strong field confinement may find wide applications in microwave and terahertz engineering.Pei Hang He Hao Chi Zhang Xinxin Gao Ling Yun Niu Wen Xuan Tang Jiayuan Lu Le Peng Zhang Tie Jun Cui 2019Opto-Electronic Advances2019,2,6:2
