| 1 | A Review of Technical Advances,Barriers,and Solutions in the Power to Hydrogen(P2H)Roadmap显示文摘Power to hydrogen(P2H)provides a promising solution to the geographic mismatch between sources of renewable energy and the market,due to its technological maturity,flexibility,and the availability of technical and economic data from a range of active demonstration projects.In this review,we aim to provide an overview of the status of P2H,analyze its technical barriers and solutions,and propose potential opportunities for future research and industrial demonstrations.We specifically focus on the transport of hydrogen via natural gas pipeline networks and end-user purification.Strong evidence shows that an addition of about 10%hydrogen into natural gas pipelines has negligible effects on the pipelines and utilization appliances,and may therefore extend the asset value of the pipelines after natural gas is depleted.To obtain pure hydrogen from hydrogen-enriched natural gas(HENG)mixtures,end-user separation is inevitable,and can be achieved through membranes,adsorption,and other promising separation technologies.However,novel materials with high selectivity and capacity will be the key to the development of industrial processes,and an integrated membrane-adsorption process may be considered in order to produce high-purity hydrogen from HENG.It is also worth investigating the feasibility of electrochemical separation(hydrogen pumping)at a large scale and its energy analysis.Cryogenics may only be feasible when liquefied natural gas(LNG)is one of the major products.A range of other technological and operational barriers and opportunities,such as water availability,byproduct(oxygen)utilization,and environmental impacts,are also discussed.This review will advance readers’understanding of P2H and foster the development of the hydrogen economy. | Guoping Hu Chao Chen Hiep Thuan Lu Yue Wu Congmin Liu Lefu Tao Yuhan Men Guangli He Kevin Gang Li | 2020 | Engineering2020,6,12: | 7 |
| 2 | Effects of L-arginine and L-citrulline supplementation in reduced protein diets for broilers under normal and cyclic warm temperature显示文摘Heat stress causes significant economic losses in the broiler industry.Dietary supplementation of arginine(Arg)and citrulline(Cit)might increase the performance of broilers raised under warm temperature due to vasodilation effects.This study investigated the effects of L-Arg or L-Cit supplementation in broilers fed a reduced protein wheat-based diet deficient in Arg under thermoneutral(NT)and cyclic warm temperature(WT).Ross 308 cockerels(n=720)were randomly allocated to 4 dietary treatments with 12 replicates of 15 birds per pen from d 7 to 21.The 4 treatments were:normal protein(NP),i.e.,22.3%and 20.9%crude protein in grower and finisher,respectively;reduced protein(RP),i.e.,2.5%lower protein and deficient in Arg;and RP supplemented with 0.28%Arg(RP-Arg)or 0.28%Cit(RP-Cit).A factorial arrangement of treatments was applied during the finisher phase(21 to 35 d).Factors were:diet(4 diets above);and temperature,NT(24℃)or cyclic WT(33±1℃for 6 h per day)with 6 replicate pens per treatment.During 7 to 35 d and 21 to 35 d,the birds fed the RP diet had lower body weight gain(BWG)and higher FCR compared to the NP diet(P<0.01).The addition of Arg or Cit to RP decreased FCR compared to RP(P<0.01).During 21 to 35 d,the birds exposed to WT had lower feed intake(FI),lower BWG(P<0.001)but similar FCR(P>0.05)compared to birds exposed to NT.Diet by temperature interactions were not observed for performance parameters during the period of WT(P>0.05).On d 35,the RP-fed birds had a lower yield of thigh and drumstick,higher fat pad,lower femur ash,and breaking strength but similar serum uric acid level and higher nitrogen digestibility on d 21 compared to those offered NP(P<0.05).Supplementation of Arg or Cit to RP resulted in increased femur ash on d 35(P<0.05).Thus,feeding the NP diets is necessary to maintain growth performance in broilers regardless of the temperature conditions. | Hiep Thi Dao Nishchal K.Sharma Emma J.Bradbury Robert A.Swick | 2021 | Animal Nutrition2021,,4: | 3 |
| 3 | The opportunity of membrane technology for hydrogen purification in the power to hydrogen (P2H) roadmap:a review显示文摘The global energy market is in a transition towards low carbon fuel systems to ensure the sustainable development of our society and economy.This can be achieved by converting the surplus renewable energy into hydrogen gas.The injection of hydrogen(£10%v/v)in the existing natural gas pipelines is demonstrated to have negligible effects on the pipelines and is a promising solution for hydrogen transportation and storage if the enduser purification technologies for hydrogen recovery from hydrogen enriched natural gas(HENG)are in place.In this review,promising membrane technologies for hydrogen separation is revisited and presented.Dense metallic membranes are highlighted with the ability of producing 99.9999999%(v/v)purity hydrogen product.However,high operating temperature(≥300℃)incurs high energy penalty,thus,limits its application to hydrogen purification in the power to hydrogen roadmap.Polymeric membranes are a promising candidate for hydrogen separation with its commercial readiness.However,further investigation in the enhancement of H2/CH4 selectivity is crucial to improve the separation performance.The potential impacts of impurities in HENG on membrane performance are also discussed.The research and development outlook are presented,highlighting the essence of upscaling the membrane separation processes and the integration of membrane technology with pressure swing adsorption technology. | Hiep Thuan Lu Wen Li Ehsan Soroodan Miandoab Shinji Kanehashi Guoping Hu | 2021 | Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2021,15,3: | 2 |

| 6 | Locally weighted learning based hybrid intelligence models for groundwater potential mapping and modeling: A case study at Gia Lai province, Vietnam显示文摘The groundwater potential map is an important tool for a sustainable water management and land use planning,particularly for agricultural countries like Vietnam.In this article,we proposed new machine learning ensemble techniques namely AdaBoost ensemble(ABLWL),Bagging ensemble(BLWL),Multi Boost ensemble(MBLWL),Rotation Forest ensemble(RFLWL)with Locally Weighted Learning(LWL)algorithm as a base classifier to build the groundwater potential map of Gia Lai province in Vietnam.For this study,eleven conditioning factors(aspect,altitude,curvature,slope,Stream Transport Index(STI),Topographic Wetness Index(TWI),soil,geology,river density,rainfall,land-use)and 134 wells yield data was used to create training(70%)and testing(30%)datasets for the development and validation of the models.Several statistical indices were used namely Positive Predictive Value(PPV),Negative Predictive Value(NPV),Sensitivity(SST),Specificity(SPF),Accuracy(ACC),Kappa,and Receiver Operating Characteristics(ROC)curve to validate and compare performance of models.Results show that performance of all the models is good to very good(AUC:0.75 to 0.829)but the ABLWL model with AUC=0.89 is the best.All the models applied in this study can support decision-makers to streamline the management of the groundwater and to develop economy not only of specific territories but also in other regions across the world with minor changes of the input parameters. | Hoang Phan Hai Yen Binh Thai Pham Tran Van Phong Duong Hai Ha Romulus Costache Hiep Van Le Huu Duy Nguyen Mahdis Amiri Nguyen Van Tao Indra Prakash | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,5: | 1 |
