1Euler-Euler CFD modeling of fluidized bed:Influence of specularity coefficient on hydrodynamic behavior显示文摘Euler-Euler two-fluid model is used to simulate the hydrodynamics of gas-solid flow in a bubbling fluidized bed with Geldert B particles where the solid property is calculated by applying the kinetic theory of granular flow(KTGF).Johnson and Jackson wall boundary condition is used for the particle phase,and different amount of slip between particle and wall is given by varying the specularity coefficient(φ) from0 to 1.The simulated particle velocity,granular temperature and particle volume fraction are compared to investigate the effect of different wall boundary conditions on the hydrodynamic behavior.Some of the results are also compared with the available experimental data from the literature.It was found that the model predictions are sensitive to the specularity coefficient.The hydrodynamic behavior deviated significantly for φ = 0 and φ = 0.01 with maximum deviation found at φ = 0 i.e.free-slip condition.However,the overall bed height predicted by all the conditions is similar.Chanchal Loha Himadri Chattopadhyay Pradip K.Chatterjee 2013Particuology2013,11,6:7
2Design and analysis of high birefringence and nonlinearity with small confinement loss photonic crystal fiber显示文摘High birefringence with low confinement loss photonic crystal fiber (PCF) has significant advantages in the field of sensing, dispersion compensation devices, nonlinear applications, and polarization filter. In this report, two different models of PCFs are presented and compared. Both the models contain five air holes rings with combination of circular and elliptical air holes arrangement. Moreover, the elliptical shaped air holes polarization and the third ring air holes rotational angle are varied. To examine different guiding characteristics, finite element method (FEM) with perfectly matched layer (PML) absorbing boundary condition is applied from 1.2 to 1.8 |im wavelength range. High birefringence, low confinement loss, high nonlinearity, and moderate disper-sion values are successfully achieved in both the PCFs models. Numeric analysis shows that model-1 gives higher birefringence (2.75 ×10^-2) and negative dispersion (-540.67 ps/(nm ·km)) at 1.55 |im wavelength. However, model-2 gives more small confinement loss than model-1 at the same wavelength. 3Effect of coefficient of restitution in Euler-Euler CFD simulation of fluidized-bed hydrodynamics显示文摘Collision between particles plays an important role in determining the hydrodynamic characteristics of gas-solid flow in a fluidized bed.In the present work,earlier work(Loha,Chattopadhyay.& Chatterjee,2013) was extended to study the effect of the elasticity of particle collision on the hydrodynamic behavior of a bubbling fluidized bed filled with 530-μm particles.The Eulerian-Eulerian two-fluid model was used to simulate the hydrodynamics of the bubbling fluidized bed.where the solid-phase properties were calculated by applying the kinetic theory of granular flow.To investigate the effect of the elasticity of particle collision,different values of the coefficient of restitution were applied in the simulation and their effects were studied in detail.Simulations were performed for two different solid-phase wall boundary conditions.No bubble formation was observed for perfectly elastic collision.The bubble formation started as soon as the coefficient of restitution was set below 1.0,and the space occupied by bubbles in the bed increased with a decrease in the coefficient of restitution.Simulation results were also compared with experimental data available in the literature,and good agreement was found for coefficients of restitution of 0.95 and 0.99.Chanchal Loha Himadri Chattopadhyay Pradip K.Chatterjee 2014Particuology2014,12,4:6
4Effect of pouring temperature on cooling slope casting of semi-solid Al-Si-Mg alloy显示文摘Present trend of semi-solid processing is directed towards rheocasting route which allows manufacturing of near-net-shape cast components directly from the prepared semi-solid slurry. Generation of globular equi-axed grains during solidification of rheocast components, compared to the columnar dendritic structure of conventional casting routes, facilitates the manufacturing of components with improved mechanical properties and structural integrity. In the present investigation, a cooling slope has been designed and indigenously fabricated to produce semi solid slurry of Al-Si-Mg (A356) alloy and successively cast in a metallic mould. The scope of the present work discusses about development of a numerical model to simulate the liquid metal flow through cooling slope using Eulerian two-phase flow approach and to investigate the effect of pouring temperature on cooling slope semi-solid slurry generation process. The two phases considered in the present model are liquid metal and air. Solid fraction evolution of the solidifying melt is tracked at different locations of the cooling slope, following Schiel s equation. The continuity equation, momentum equation and energy equation are solved considering thin wall boundary condition approach. During solidification of the liquid metal, a modified temperature recovery scheme has been employed taking care of the latent heat release and change of fraction of liquid. The results obtained from simulations are compared with experimental findings and good agreement has been found.Prosenjit Das Sudip K. 6Effect of TiB2 and Al3Ti on the microstructure,mechanical properties and fracture behaviour of near eutectic Al−12.6Si alloy显示文摘A near eutectic Al−12.6Si alloy was developed with 0.0wt%,2.0wt%,4.0wt%,and 6.0wt%Al−5Ti−1B master alloy.The micro-structural morphology,hardness,tensile strength,elongation,and fracture behaviour of the alloys were studied.The unmodified Al−12.6Si al-loy has an irregular needle and plate-like eutectic silicon(ESi)and coarse polygonal primary silicon(PSi)particles in the matrix-likeα-Al phase.The P_(Si),E_(Si),andα-Al morphology and volume fraction were changed due to the addition of the Al−5Ti−1B master alloy.The hardness,UTS,and elongation improved due to the microstructural modification.Nano-sized in-situ Al3Ti particles and ex-situ TiB_(2)particles caused the mi-crostructural modification.The fracture images of the developed alloys exhibit a ductile and brittle mode of fracture at the same time.The Al−5Ti−1B modified alloys have a more ductile mode of fracture and more dimples compared to the unmodified alloy.Surajit Basak Prosanta Biswas Surajit Patra Himadri Roy Manas Kumar Mondal 2021International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2021,28,7:3
7Tilapia Lake Virus(TiLV)disease:Current status of understanding显示文摘Tilapia Lake Virus(TiLV)disease is an emerging and transboundary disease of tilapia cultures,causing mortality up to 90%globally.TiLV is a negative sense single stranded RNA virus belongs to family Amnoonviridae,genus Tilapinevirus and species Tilapia tilapinevirus.The first TiLV outbreak to fishes was reported from Israel followed by other countries viz.,Ecuador,Colombia,Egypt,Thailand,Chinese Taipei,India,Malaysia,Bangladesh,Uganda,Tanzania,Peru,Mexico,Philippines,Indonesia,and USA.All the life stages of Tilapia(belonging to the family Cichlidae)are vulnerable to TiLV infection.However,river barb and giant gourami have also been found susceptible to TiLV infection.The virus infects the vital organs of the fish,including eyes,brain,and liver.The notable pathological finding of this disease includes syncytial cell formation and massive hepatocellular necrosis with pyknotic and karyolytic nuclei in the liver cells of infected fish.The disease is very contagious and spreads through both horizontal and vertical transmission.Several sensitive and rapid molecular diagnostic tools like reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR),RT-quantitative PCR(RT-qPCR),loop-mediated isothermal amplification(LAMP)have been developed for early detection of the virus.Till date,no comprehensive control measures have been developed throughout the globe,although aggressive work on this line is going on.Implementations of strict good management practices,including quarantine protocols,are the only available option to combat the outbreak and spread of the disease.This review emphasizes the etiology,occurrence and distribution,mode of transmission,pathology and pathogenesis,diagnosis,possible control measures,and challenges of TiLV disease.Nilav Aich Anirban Paul Tanmoy Gon Choudhury Himadri Saha 2022Aquaculture and Fisheries2022,7,1:2
