| 2 | Taxonomic Distinctness of Macrofauna as an Ecological Indicator in Laizhou Bay and Adjacent Waters显示文摘In this paper, we assessed the ecological and biodiversity status in the Bohai Sea through a quantitative survey on mac-rofaunal community at 25 stations in Laizhou Bay and adjacent waters in the autumn of 2006.We tested the robustness and effectiveness of taxonomic distinctness as an ecological indictor by analyzing its correlation with species richness and natural environmental variables and by analyzing other ecological indicators (Shannon-Wiener H' and W statistics from Abundance Biomass Comparison curve).Results so obtained indicated that the benthic environment of the study waters in general is not under major impact of anthropogenic disturbance, but some stations in Laizhou Bay and along the coast of the Shandong Peninsula and even in the central Bohai Sea might be moderately disturbed and showed signs of ecological degradation.The taxonomic distinctness measures △+ and Λ+ were independent of sampling effort and natural environment factors and were compliant to other ecological indicators.Further application of the taxonomic distinctness indicator to assess marine biodiversity and ecosystem health on a larger regional scale with historical data seems promising. | ZHOU Hong HUA Er ZHANG Zhinan | 2010 | Journal of Ocean University of China2010,9,4: | 9 |
| 3 | Meiofauna Distribution in Intertidal Sandy Beaches Along China Shoreline(18?–40?N)显示文摘In this study,the distribution pattern of meiofauna from nine sandy beaches at six latitudinal gradients along Chinese coast between 18 and 40?N was studied on their meiofauna abundance to examine the effect of latitudinal gradients.In general,meiofauna abundance was lower in four subtropical beaches in Xiamen(24?N) and Zhoushan(29?N) than that in other beaches.Meiofauna abundance differed little between tropical and temperate beaches.The taxonomic structure of meiofauna showed a dominance of nematode in colder area.The relative composition of turbellarians and polychaetes increased in warmer area.In addition to latitudinal gradient,salinity,oxygenation,sediment grain size affect also the meiofauna latitudinal distribution.As for horizontal distribution,the highest meiofauna abundance was found in low tidal zone at tropical beaches,and in middle tidal zone at temperate beaches.The horizontal distribution of meiofauna was controlled by both physical and biotic factors including feeding and anthropogenic activities.Although meiofauna abundance exhibited a horizontal difference,the composition of meiofaunal main taxa was unanimous horizontally at all beaches at the same sampling latitude. | HUA Er ZHANG Zhinan ZHOU Hong MU Fanghong LI Jia ZHANG Ting CONG Bingqing LIU Xiaoshou | 2016 | Journal of Ocean University of China2016,15,1: | 7 |

| 5 | A New Treatment of Depression for Drainage Network Extraction Based on DEM显示文摘Depressions in landscapes function as buffers for water and sediment. A landscape with depressions has less runoff,less erosion and more sedimentation than that without depressions. Sinks in digital elevation models (DEMs) can be considered the real features that represent depressions in actual landscapes or spurious features that result from errors in DEM creation. In many hydrological and erosion models,all sinks are considered as spurious features and,as a result,these models do not deal with the sinks that represent real depressions. Consequently,the surface runoff and erosion are overestimated due to removing the depressions. Aiming at this problem,this paper presents a new method,which deal with the sinks that represent real depressions. The drainage network is extracted without changing the original DEM. The method includes four steps:detecting pits,detecting depressions,merging depressions,and extracting drainage network. Because the elevations of grid cells are not changed,the method can also avoid producing new flat areas,which are always produced by the conventional filling methods. The proposed method was applied to the Xihanshui River basin,the upper reach of the Jialingjiang River basin,China,to automatically extract the drainage network based on DEM.
