| 1 | Hybrid bound states in the continuum in terahertz metasurfaces显示文摘Bound states in the continuum(BICs)have exhibited extraordinary properties in photonics for enhanced light-matter interactions that enable appealing applications in nonlinear optics,biosensors,and ultrafast optical switches.The most common strategy to apply BICs in a metasurface is by breaking symmetry of resonators in the uniform array that leaks the otherwise uncoupled mode to free space and exhibits an inverse quadratic relationship between quality factor(Q)and asymmetry.Here,we propose a scheme to further reduce scattering losses and improve the robustness of symmetry-protected BICs by decreasing the radiation density with a hybrid BIC lattice.We observe a significant increase of radiative Q in the hybrid lattice compared to the uniform lattice with a factor larger than 14.6.In the hybrid BIC lattice,modes are transferred toГpoint inherited from high symmetric X,Y,and M points in the Brillouin zone that reveal as multiple Fano resonances in the far field and would find applications in hyperspectral sensing.This work initiates a novel and generalized path toward reducing scattering losses and improving the robustness of BICs in terms of lattice engineering that would release the rigid requirements of fabrication accuracy and benefit applications of photonics and optoelectronic devices. | Junxing Fan Zuolong Li Zhanqiang Xue Hongyang Xing Dan Lu Guizhen Xu Jianqiang Gu Jiaguang Han Longqing Cong | 2023 | Opto-Electronic Science2023,2,4: | 1 |
| 2 | Aristolochic acids exposure was not the main cause of liver tumorigenesis in adulthood显示文摘Aristolochic acids(AAs) have long been considered as a potent carcinogen due to its nephrotoxicity. Aristolochic acid I(AAI) reacts with DNA to form covalent aristolactam(AL)-DNA adducts,leading to subsequent A to T transversion mutation, commonly referred as AA mutational signature. Previous research inferred that AAs were widely implicated in liver cancer throughout Asia. In this study, we explored whether AAs exposure was the main cause of liver cancer in the context of HBV infection in China's Mainland. Totally 1256 liver cancer samples were randomly retrieved from 3 medical centers and a refined bioanalytical method was used to detect AAI-DNA adducts. 5.10% of these samples could be identified as AAI positive exposure. Whole genome sequencing suggested 8.41% of 107 liver cancer patients exhibited the dominant AA mutational signature, indicating a relatively low overall AAI exposure rate. In animal models, long-term administration of AAI barely increased liver tumorigenesis in adult mice, opposite from its tumor-inducing role when subjected to infant mice. Furthermore, AAI induced dose-dependent accumulation of AA-DNA adduct in target organs in adult mice, with the most detected in kidney instead of liver. | 4 | Recent Advances and Perspective of Photonic Bound States in the Continuum显示文摘Recent advancements in photonic bound states in the continuum(BICs)have opened up exciting new possibilities for the design of optoelectronic devices with improved performance.In this perspective article,we provide an overview of recent progress in photonic BICs based on metamaterials and photonic crystals,focusing on both the underlying physics and their practical applications.The first part of this article introduces 2 different interpretations of BICs,based on far-field interference of multipoles and near-field analysis of topological charges.We then discuss recent research on manipulating the far-field radiation properties of BICs through engineering topological charges.The second part of the article summarizes recent developments in the applications of BICs,including chiral light and vortex beam generation,nonlinear optical frequency conversion,sensors,and nanolasers.Finally,we conclude with a discussion of the potential of photonic BICs to advance terahertz applications in areas such as generation and detection,modulation,sensing,and isolation.Webelieve that continued researchinthis area will lead to exciting new advancements in optoelectronics,particularly in the field of terahertz devices. | Guizhen Xu Hongyang Xing Zhanqiang Xue Dan Lu Jinying Fan Junxing Fan Perry Ping Shum Longqing Cong | 2023 | Ultrafast Science2023,3,5: | 0 |
| 5 | Dynamically observing the formation of MOFs-driven Co/N-doped carbon nanocomposites by in-situ transmission electron microscope and their application as high-efficient microwave absorbent显示文摘Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)derived magnetic carbon-based nanocomposites have drawn widespread attentions due to the well distributed nanocrystals in carbon matrix.Dynamically observing the formation process is urgently needed.Herein,taking zeolitic imidazolate framework(ZIF)-67 as an example,the pyrolysis process is investigated by in-situ transmission electron microscopy(TEM)assisted with ex-situ characterizations.Co nanocrystals are evenly distributed in carbon at the initial stage of carbonization.By increasing pyrolysis temperature,the nanocrystals grow bigger and migrate to carbon surface.The carbon texture transfers from amorphous to crystalline at 600°C,and thoroughly converts at 800°C.In-situ heating TEM shows that more tiny Co nanocrystals move out from the carbon texture by increasing temperature from 700 to 800°C.At 1,000°C,some escaped tiny Co nanocrystals are volatilized and disappeared.The residual escaped Co nanocrystals catalyze the formation of carbon nanotubes(CNTs).Due to the synergistic effect between Co and carbon as well as porous structure,the nanocomposites show high-efficient microwave absorption performance,which can be tuned by pyrolysis temperature,heating rate,and mass fraction.When the mass fraction is 30 wt.%,the nanocomposites obtained at 600 or 700°C display remarkable microwave absorption with optimal reflection loss(RL)smaller than−70 dB and effective absorption band larger than 4.9 GHz.Combining the in-situ and ex-situ techniques,some key findings were observed:(1)graphitization of carbon;(2)volatilization of Co nanocrystals;(3)formation process of CNTs by Co catalyst.These findings are helpful to understand the formation of MOFs derived carbon-based composites and expand their practical applications,especially for microwave absorption. | You Zhou Xia Deng Hongna Xing Hongyang Zhao Yibo Liu Lisong Guo Juan Feng Wei Feng Yan Zong Xiuhong Zhu Xinghua Li Yong Peng Xinliang Zheng | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,8: | 0 |
