| 1 | Numerical simulation of mechanisms of deformation,failure and energy dissipation in porous rock media subjected to wave stresses显示文摘The pore characteristics,mineral compositions,physical and mechanical properties of the subarkose sandstones were acquired by means of CT scan,X-ray diffraction and physical tests.A few physical models possessing the same pore characteristics and matrix properties but different porosities compared to the natural sandstones were developed.The 3D finite element models of the rock media with varied porosities were established based on the CT image processing of the physical models and the MIMICS software platform.The failure processes of the porous rock media loaded by the split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB) were simulated by satisfying the elastic wave propagation theory.The dynamic responses,stress transition,deformation and failure mechanisms of the porous rock media subjected to the wave stresses were analyzed.It is shown that an explicit and quantitative analysis of the stress,strain and deformation and failure mechanisms of porous rocks under the wave stresses can be achieved by using the developed 3D finite element models.With applied wave stresses of certain amplitude and velocity,no evident pore deformation was observed for the rock media with a porosity less than 15%.The deformation is dominantly the combination of microplasticity(shear strain),cracking(tensile strain) of matrix and coalescence of the cracked regions around pores.Shear stresses lead to microplasticity,while tensile stresses result in cracking of the matrix.Cracking and coalescence of the matrix elements in the neighborhood of pores resulted from the high transverse tensile stress or tensile strain which exceeded the threshold values.The simulation results of stress wave propagation,deformation and failure mechanisms and energy dissipation in porous rock media were in good agreement with the physical tests.The present study provides a reference for analyzing the intrinsic mechanisms of the complex dynamic response,stress transit mode,deformation and failure mechanisms and the disaster mechanisms of rock media. | JU Yang1,2,WANG HuiJie1,YANG YongMing1,HU QinAng3 & PENG RuiDong1 1 State Key Laboratory of Coal Resources and Safe Mining,Beijing Key Laboratory of Fracture and Damage Mechanics of Rock and Concrete,China University of Mining and Technology,Beijing 100083,China 2 Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering,University of Calgary,Calgary,Alberta,T2N 1N4,Canada 3 School of Environment and Civil Engineering,College of Engineering,Oklahoma State University,Stillwater,OK 74078,USA | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,4: | 32 |
| 2 | Analysis of sea surface temperature fronts in the Taiwan Strait and its adjacent area using an advanced edge detection method显示文摘A morphology-based edge detection method has been used to study sea surface temperature (SST) fronts in the Taiwan Strait and its adjacent area. The method is based on mathematical morphology with multi-dimensional and multi-structural elements. Using six years’ SST data from September 2002 to August 2008, we distinguished the large SST front like Kuroshio Front as well as the smaller ones: namely Taiwan Bank Front, Zhe-Min Coastal Front and Zhang-Yun Ridge Front. The seasonal and monthly variations of these fronts were also studied. Generally, the SST fronts are stronger in winter but weaker in summer. | 3 | Relationship between ABO blood groups and carcinoma of esophagus and cardia in Chaoshan inhabitants of China显示文摘AIM To study the relationship between ABO blood groups and carcinoma of esophagus and cardia in Chaoshan inhebitants of China, which is a unique Littoral high-risk area of esophageal carcinoma in China. The poor communication and transportation in the psst has made Cheoshan a relatively closed area and kept its culture and costure of old China thousend years ago.``METHODS Data on age, sex, ABO blood type and X-rayor psthological diagnose of the pstients with carcinoma of esophagus or cardia were collected from the Tumor Hospital. First Affiliated Hospital, Second Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College; and the Central Hospital of Shantou and the Central Hospital of Jieyang. A total of 6685 pstients with esophageal carcinoma (EC) and 2 955 patients with cardiac cancer (CC) in Chaoshen district were retrospectively assessed for their association with ABO blood groups.``RESULTS The distribution of ABO blood groups in patients with EC or CC was similar to the norrnal local population in Chaoshen. However, blood group B in male patients with CC and in the pstients with carcinoma in the upper third esophagus was 2.3% and 4.7% higher than the corresponding controls. The relative risk B: O was 1. 1415 (P<0.05)and 1 .2696 (P<0.05), respectively. No relationship was found between ABO blood groups and tumor differentiation.``CONCLTUSION ABO blood group B is associated with the incidence of CC in male individuals and carcinona in the upper third esophagus. The distribution of ABO blood groups varies in the different geographical and ethnic groups. | 4 | Geochemistry of high-Mg andesites from the early Cretaceous Yixian Formation, western Liaoning: Implications for lower crustal delamination and Sr/Y variations显示文摘85 volcanic rocks of the Yixian Formation from the Sihetun type section were collected and analyzed for geochemical and isotopic compositions. Major element compositions indicate that the Sihetun volcanic rocks are high magnesium andesites with some basalts occurring at the bottom of section. The Sihetun high magnesium andesites (SiO2 = 52.82―59.31wt%, Al2O3 = 14.15―16.35wt%) show many characteristics of adakites such as depletion in heavy rare-earth elements (HREE; Yb = 1.03―1.88 μg/g) and Y(12―20 μg/g) and high Sr (620―1323 μg/g) and Sr/Y(32―88), with high LaN/YbN ratio (10―25). They share similar major and trace element characteristics to volcanic rocks from the Xinglonggou Formation except their lower Nd isotope ratios (143Nd/144Nd (130Ma) = 0.5118―0.5119, ε Nd (130Ma) = ?11.6―?13.8, 87Sr/86Sr (130 Ma) = 0.7058―0.7064. They were in- terpreted in a way that eclogite that formed at the base of thickened Archean lower crust of the North China craton foundered into the convecting mantle and subsequently melted and interacted with peridotite. However, compared to the Xinglonggou volcanic rocks, the source of the Sihetun magma contained more ancient continental crustal material in order to explain its evolved Nd isotopes. The age of the Sihetun Formation was 120 to 130 Ma, and this indicates that delamination lasted to the early Cretaceous period. The Sr contents and Sr/Y ratios of the Sihetun high-Mg andesites show sig- nificant negative correlations with SiO2 for samples with SiO2 > 56%. These suggest that the Sr and Sr/Y values were reduced due to fractional crystallization of plagioclase. | 7 | Orbit determination and prediction accuracy analysis for a regional tracking network显示文摘China's COMPASS satellite navigation system relies on a regional tracking network to provide navigation services. Limited by its geographic border,the regional network is able to cover only 30% of the medium-earth-orbits(MEO). Accuracy of determined and predicted orbits is not able to satisfy system requirements if the tracking data processing strategy for global tracking network processing is used for the regional network. Two major error sources for orbital prediction are accuracy of initial orbital elements and dynamical modeling. To achieve better prediction accuracy,we propose a two-step orbit determination and prediction strategy. For step 1,only solar radiation pressure(SRP) parameters are estimated along with the orbital elements and other parameters; for step 2,all parameters are estimated but the SRP parameters are tightly constrained to their step 1 estimates. | 9 | Denitrification in Chongming east tidal flat sediment, Yangtze estuary, China显示文摘From July 2003 to July 2004, samples were collected on Chongming Island east tidal flat every two months. The research showed that the nitrous oxide (N2O) production rate was very low in the water, Chongming east tidal flat (CM) sediment was the N2O source of the water. Sediment N2O natural production rate was between -0.08 and 1.74 μmolN·m-2·h-1. N2O natural production rate was higher in the summer. The difference of the N2O natural production rate in the different tidal flats, the correlation between the N2O natural production rate and the denitrification rate, and those with the temperature and DO indicate that middle tidal flat sediment denitrification was the main process of the N2O production, while in the low tidal flat sediment, the production of the N2O came from several processes of the nitrogen cycling. Tidal flat sediment denitrification reaction was stronger in summer and winter but relatively lower in the late autumn and early spring. Seasonal change of the sediment denitrification rate was wide, from 1.12 to 33.34 μmolN·m-2·h-1. | 10 | Orbit determination for geostationary satellites with the combination of transfer ranging and pseudorange data显示文摘Geostationary satellites(GEOs) play a significant role in the regional satellite navigation system.Simulation experiments show that the clock corrections could be mitigated through a single strategy or double differencing strategies for a navigation constellation,but for the mode of individual GEO orbit determination,high precision orbit and clock correction could not be obtained in the orbit determination based on the pseudorange data.A new GEO combined precise orbit determination(POD) strategy is studied in this paper,which combines pseudorange data and C-band transfer ranging data.This strategy overcomes the deficiency of C-band transfer ranging caused by limited stations and tracking time available.With the combination of transfer ranging and pseudorange data,clock corrections between the GEO and the stations can be estimated simultaneously along with orbital parameters,maintaining self-consistency between the satellite ephemeris and clock correction parameters.The error covariance analysis is conducted to illuminate the contributions from the transfer ranging data and the psudoranging data.Using data collected for a Chinese GEO satellite with 3 C-band transfer ranging stations and 4 L-band pseudorange tracking stations,POD experiments indicate that a meter-level accuracy is achievable.The root-mean-square(RMS) of the post-fit C-band ranging data is about 0.203 m,and the RMS of the post-fit pseudorange is 0.408 m.Radial component errors of the POD experiments are independently evaluated with the satellite laser ranging(SLR) data from a station in Beijing,with the residual RMS of 0.076 m.The SLR evaluation also suggests that for 2-h orbital predication,the predicted radial error is about 0.404 m,and the clock correction error is about 1.38 ns.Even for the combination of one C-band transfer ranging station and 4 pseudorange stations,POD is able to achieve a reasonable accuracy with the radial error of 0.280 m and the 2-h predicted radial error of 0.888 m.Clock synchronization between the GEO and tracking stations is achieved with an estimated accuracy of about 1.55 ns,meeting the navigation service requirements. | GUO Rui1,2,3,4,HU XiaoGong2,4,LIU Li1,WU XiaoLi1,HUANG Yong2,4 & HE Feng1 1 Beijing Global Information Application and Development Center,Beijing 100094,China 2 Shanghai Astronomical Observatory,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Shanghai 200030,China 3 Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing 100049,China 4 Space Navigation and Positioning Technology,Laboratory of Shanghai Municipal,Shanghai 200030,China | 2010 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,9: | 13 |
| 11 | An improvement on summer regional climate simulation over East China: Importance of data assimilation of soil moisture显示文摘The Newtonian relaxation is used to assimilate data from the Second Global Soil Wetness Project (GSWP2) into the initial field for soil moisture in a regional climate model (i.e., BCC_RegCM 1.0, hereinafter called RegCM). The results show that different nudging parameters can improve the simulation of the air temperature and the precipitation to some extent in summertime season over East China. When the nudging intensity is 0.5 and nudging duration is 5 days, the result is desirable. Introducing the data assimilation of soil moisture into RegCM, the amelioration is not only in the spatial distribution pattern but also in the magnitude of the temperature and the precipitation. More specifically, the assimilation experiments have corrected the systematical cold bias of the air temperature and the precipitation on the low side, which is much closer to the observation compared with the control experiment. On the whole, the assimilation experiments shed light on the fact that the simulated bias in the original RegCM may be affected by the description of soil moisture in the land surface process. | 13 | The study of neighboring nucleotide composition and transition/transversion bias显示文摘Base substitution is one of the raw fuels that produce genetic variation and drive evolu-tion. Recent studies have shown that the genome components affect mutation patterns to some extent. In order to infer the correlation between the Transition/Transversion ratio (Ts/Tv) and the number of immediately adjacent A&T nucleotides, we investigated 3611007 Oryza sativa SNPs (including 45462 coding SNPs, and 242811 intronic SNPs) and 32019 Arabidopsis SNPs. The results show that Ts/Tv is negatively correlated with the number of immediately adjacent A&T in O. sativa and Arabidopsis. We further calculated AT2 (the number of SNPs whose immediately adjacent nucleotides are either A or T) and AT0 (the number of SNPs whose immediately adjacent nucleotides are either C or G) for all 6 types of SNPs. C/G SNP of O. sativa and Arabidopsis has the highest AT2/AT0, which denotes C/G SNP may be influenced by the adjacent A&T nucleotides mostly. | 16 | Identification of in vivo induced protein antigens of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi during human infection显示文摘During infectious disease episodes, pathogens express distinct subsets of virulence factors which allow them to adapt to different environments. Hence, genes that are expressed or upregulated in vivo are implicated in pathogenesis. We used in vivo induced antigen technology (IVIAT) to identify antigens which are expressed during infection with Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi. We identified 7 in vivo induced (IVI) antigens, which included BcfD (a fimbrial structural subunit), GrxC (a glutaredoxin 3), SapB (an ABC-type transport system), T3663 (an ABC-type uncharacterized transport system), T3816 (a putative rhodanese-related sulfurtransferase), T1497 (a probable TonB-dependent receptor) and T3689 (unknown function). Of the 7 identified antigens, 5 antigens had no cross-immunoreactivity in adsorbed control sera from healthy subjects. These 5 included BcfD, GrxC, SapB, T3663 and T3689. | 20 | Ternary geochemical-tracing system in natural gas accumulation显示文摘The establishment of geochemical-tracing system of gas generation and accumulation is helpful to re-elucidating the gas migration and accumulation in time and space. To deduce the complex process of gas accumulation, a ternary geochemical-tracing system is set up, according to stable isotope inheritance of source rocks, kinetic fractionation of stable isotopes, time-accumulating effect of noble gas isotopes, mantle-derived volatile inheritance, and organic molecule inheritance of light hydrocarbons and thermally kinetic fractionation in their generation, in combination with the previous achievements of gas geochemistry and geochemical parameters of gas-source correlation. There are tight interactions for the geochemical parameters with much information about parent inheritance and special biomarkers, in which they are confirmed each other, reciprocally associated and preferentially used for the requirement so that we can use these geochemical parameters to effectively demonstrate the sources of natural gas, sedimentary environments and thermal evolution of source rocks, migration and accumulation of natural gas, and rearrangement of natural gas reservoirs.
