Epoxy asphalt concrete paving on the deck of long-span steel bridges显示文摘It is the first systematic research in the world on the composition design of epoxy asphalt concrete as pav- ing material. Material characteristics and service perform- ance of mixture, fatigue resistance characteristics of epoxy asphalt concrete by the fatigue test of complex beam have also been described. This research indicates that epoxy as-phalt concrete is a good type of paving material. Research results have been applied successfully in the paving of steel deck of the Second Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge (SNYRB). It provides a new paving type for long-span steel bridges of China and has a bright application prospect. | HUANG Wei, QIAN Zhendong, CHEN Gang & YANG Jun Transportation College, Southeast University, Nanjing 210096, China Correspondence should be addressed to Huang Wei (e-mail: hwei@ seu.edu.cn) | 2003 | Chinese Science Bulletin2003,48,21: | 47
Regional patterns of particulate spectral absorption in the Pearl River estuary显示文摘Spectral absorption coefficients of the total particulate, ap(l ), nonalgal particulate, ad(l ), and phyto-plankton pigment, aph(l ), in the Pearl River estuary and its vicinity waters were determined using the quantitative filter technique. The particulate absorption ap(443) ranged from 0.04 to 1.82 m-1, with the corresponding aph(443) ranging from 0.016 to 0.484 m-1. Two typical spectral patterns are found for the total particulate absorption. For the first typi-cal spectral pattern, the total particulate absorption spectra are similar to that of nonalgal particulate, with values of absorption coefficient decreasing with wavelength. In con-trast, for the second spectral pattern the spectral absorptions by total particulate are very similar to that of phytoplankton pigment. The spectral dependency of absorption by nonalgal particulate follows an exponential increase toward short wavelengths, with an average slope of 0.012±0.002 nm-1. The nonalgal absorption and the fraction of the nonalgal particulate absorption to the total particulate absorption exhibit a distinct trend of decreasing with salinity of the sur-face water. Phytoplankton pigment absorption exhibits a clear trend of increasing nonlinearly with chlorophyll a con-centration. The relationships between the phytoplankton pigment absorption and chlorophyll a concentration can be described by power law, with the determination coefficient r2 of 0.82. But only weak relationships between ap(l ) and chlorophyll a concentration are observed, with the determination coefficient r2 of 0.42. The relatively large scatter around ap(443) versus chl-a relationship would be attributed to the effects of loading of the nonalgal particulate absorption. Our analysis indicated that such relationships similar to that for Case Ⅰ waters can be applicable to optically complex Case Ⅱ waters if the effects caused by nonalgal are corrected. The chlorophyll-specific absorption coefficients of phytoplankton pigment are not constant, it increases with decreasing chlorophyll a level. To improve the accuracy of bio-optical algorithms for remote sensing in coastal waters, further investigations on the variations of specific absorption of chlorophyll pigment must be made. | CAO Wenxi, YANG Yuezhong, XU Xiaoqiang, HUANG Liangmin & ZHANG Jianlin LED Laboratory, South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou 510301, China Correspondence should be addressed to Cao Wenxi (e-mail: wxcao@ scsio.ac.cn) | 2003 | Chinese Science Bulletin2003,48,21: | 24
Geospatial-temporal analysis of land-use changes in the Yellow River Delta during the last 40 years显示文摘Comprehensive study on land-use change of spatial pattern and temporal process is the key component in land use/land cover changes (LUCC) study nowadays. According to the theories and methods of Geo-information Tupu (Carto-methodology in Geo-information, CMGI) for geospatial and temporal analysis and integration models of spatial pattern and temporal processes in GIS, the paper puts forward Tupu methodology of land-use change and names the basic synthetic unit of spatial-temporal information Tupu unit. Tupu unit is the synthetic unit for geospatial-temporal analysis, which is synthesized by “space·attribute·process”features and composed of relatively homogeneous geographic unit and temporal unit. Based on the spatial features of 4 stages of land-use change in 1956, 1984, 1991, and 1996, a series of Tupu on land-use change in the Yellow River Delta (YRD) are created and studied in the paper, which includes 3 temporal units of spatial-temporal Tupu, process Tupu of land-use changes during the last 40 years, and reconstructions of a series of “arisen”Tupu, “arisen”process Tupu and pattern Tupu on land-use changes in the last 40 years by remapping tables of a reclassifying system. There are 3 methods of Tupu analysis on land-use change that are used to disclose change processes of land-use spatial conversion in YRD, such as spatial query and statistics, order of Tupu units by area and land-use conversion matrixes. In order to reveal the spatial pattern of land-use change processes, we analyze spatial-temporal changes of each Tupu above in various temporal units and spatial difference of pattern Tupu in the last 40 years by dynamic Tupu units. Tupu analysis on regional land-use is a promising trial on the comprehensive research of “spatial pattern of dynamic process”and “temporal process of spatial pattern”in LUCC research. The geo-information Tupu methodology would be a powerful and efficient tool on integrated studies of spatial pattern and temporal process in geoscience. | YE Qinghua1,3,4,LIU Gaohuan2,TIAN Guoliang1,CHEN Shenliang3,HUANG Chong2,CHEN Shupeng1,2,LIU Qingshen2,CHANG Jun2 & SHI Yanan2 1.State Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing Science,Institute of Remote Sensing Applications(IRSA),Chinese Academy of Science(CAS),Beijing 100101,China 2.Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research,CAS,Beijing 100101,China 3.State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research,East China Normal University,Shanghai 200062,China 4.Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research(ITPR),CAS,Beijing 100085,China Correspondence should be addressed to Ye Qinghua(email: yeqh@itpcas.ac.cn) | 2004 | Science China Earth Sciences2004,47,11: | 22
Changed clinical aspects of primary liver cancer in China during the past 30 years显示文摘BACKGROUND: Primary liver cancer (PLC) is one of the most frequently seen tumors in China. Thirty years ago, patients with PLC were often detected at relatively late stage, with a palpable mass or marked clinical symptoms and poor prognosis. In the past 30 years, the diagnosis and treatment of PLC have been greatly improved with better prognosis. METHODS: In order to study the changes of PLC during the 30 years, the clinical data of 3250 patients with PLC from 10 medical institutions of China were collected, ana- lyzed , and compared with those of 3254 PLC patients be- fore the 30 years. RESULTS: In the 3250 patients aged 1-80 years, with an average age of 49.1 years, the male to female ratio (2.3:1) was lower than that before the 30 years. 73.5% of the 3250 patients sought medical advice within 3 months after the onset of the disease in contrast to 63.8% before the 30 years. Compared with those patients before the 30 years the symptoms and signs were alleviated generally. The HBsAg positive rate was 81.0%, but the HCV-Ab positive rate was 13.2%. The AFP level in 75% of patients was elevated, but in the remaining 25% was normal. 1912 patients (58.8%) were confirmed pathologically. Among them 1755 patients (91.8%) had hepatocellular carcinoma. The overall resec- tion rate was 46.3%. Those who had early, middle, late stage carcinoma accounted for 29.9%, 51.5%, and 18.6%respectively in contrast to 0.4%, 47.0%, and 52.6% repor- ted before the 30 years. The 1-, 3-, 5-year survival rates of the patients were 66.1%, 39.7%, and 32.5% respectively, whereas 93.5%, 70.1%, and 59.1% for the early stage pa- tients, and 65.3%, 30.5%, and 23.5% for the middle stage patients. The half and 1-year survival rates of the late stage patients were 52.5%, and 14.7%, respectively. CONCLUSION: Comparison with the clinical data before and after the 30 years show that PLC can be diagnosed ear- ly. More PLC patients tend to undergo resection while re- ceiving a better conservative treatment, which ensures a prognosis. | Bing-Hui Yang, Jing-Lin Xia, Li-Wen Huang, Zhao-You Tang, Ming-Shan Chen, Jin-Qing Li, An-Min Liang, Qin-Guo Mo, Hui-Shan Lu, Chao-Liu Dai, Lu-Nan Yan, Zhi-Jian Yu, Rong-Sheng Rao, Le-Qun Li, Zhi-Xiong Su, Zhuang-Wei Fang Shanghai, China Liver Cancer Institute & Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai 200032, China Tumor Hospital, Zhongshan University, Guangzhou 510000, China Tumor Hospital, Guangxi Medical Universi- ty, Nanning 530000, China Xiehe Hospital, Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou 350000, China Second Hos- pital, Chinese Medical University, Shenyang 110000, China Huaxi Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, China Hospital Affiliated to Nantong Medical University, Nantong 226000 , China Second Hospital, Jiangxi Medical University, Nanchang 330000 , China First Hospital Affiliated to Guangxi Medical University, Nanning 530000 , China People’s Hospital of Hainan Province, Haikou 570000, China | 2004 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2004,3,2: | 20
Molecular dynamics simulation of mechanical properties of TATB/fluorine-polymer PBXs along different surfaces显示文摘The mechanical properties of PBXs composed of the well-known insensitive explo-sive TATB (1,3,5-Triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene) crystal and four kinds of typical fluo-rine-polymers, i.e. poly (vinylidene difluoride) (PVDF), polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE), fluo-rine rubber (F2311) and fluorine resin (F2314) individually, have been simulated by molecular dy-namics (MD) method. The results show that the mechanical properties of TATB can be effectively improved by blending with a small amount of fluorine-polymers. Different mechanical properties of PBXs are obtained by putting fluorine-polymer binders parallel to different crystalline surfaces. The whole effect of improving mechanical properties is found to be (010)?(100)>(001). | XIAO Jijun1, HUANG Yucheng1, HU Yingjie1,2 & XIAO Heming1 1. | 6 | Theoretical analyses and numerical experiments of variational assimilation for one-dimensional ocean temperature model with techniques in inverse problems显示文摘In the present work, the data assimilation problem in meteorology and physical oceanography is re-examined using the variational optimal control approaches in combination with regularization techniques in inverse problem. Here the estimations of the initial condition, boundary condition and model parameters are performed simultaneously in the framework of variational data assimilation. To overcome the difficulty of ill-posedness, especially for the model parameters distributed in space and time, an additional term is added into the cost functional as a stabilized functional. Numerical experiments show that even with noisy observations the initial conditions and model parameters are recovered to an acceptable degree of accuracy. | HUANG Sixun1,2, HAN Wei1 & WU Rongsheng2 1. | 7 | Sorafenib inhibits growth and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma by blocking STAT3显示文摘AIM: To investigate the inhibitory role and the underlying mechanisms of sorafenib on signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) activity in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).METHODS: Human and rat HCC cell lines were treated with sorafenib. Proliferation and STAT3 dephosphorylation were assessed. Potential molecular mechanisms of STAT3 pathway inhibition by sorafenib were evaluated. In vivo antitumor action and STAT3 inhibition were investigated in an immunocompetent orthotopic rat HCC model.RESULTS: Sorafenib decreased STAT3 phosphorylationat the tyrosine and serine residues (Y705 and S727), but did not affect Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) and phosphatase shatterproof 2 (SHP2), which is associated with growth inhibition in HCC cells. Dephosphorylation of S727 was associated with attenuated extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) phosphorylation, similar to the effects of a mitogen-activated protein kinase (MEK) inhibitor U0126, suggesting that sorafenib induced S727 dephosphorylation by inhibiting MEK/ERK signaling. Meanwhile, sorafenib could also inhibit Akt phosphorylation, and both the phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitor LY294002 and Akt knockdown resulted in Y705 dephosphorylation, indicating that Y705 dephosphorylation by sorafenib was mediated by inhibiting the PI3K/Akt pathway. Finally, in the rat HCC model, sorafenib signifi cantly inhibited STAT3 activity, reducing tumor growth and metastasis.CONCLUSION: Sorafenib inhibits growth and metastasis of HCC in part by blocking the MEK/ERK/STAT3 and PI3K/Akt/STAT3 signaling pathways, but independent of JAK2 and SHP2 activation. | Fang-Ming Gu, Quan-Lin Li, Qiang Gao, Jia-Hao Jiang, Xiao-Yong Huang, Jin-Feng Pan, Jia Fan, Jian ZhouFang-Ming Gu, Quan-Lin Li, Qiang Gao, Jia-Hao Jiang, Xiao-Yong Huang, Jin-Feng Pan, Jia Fan, Jian Zhou, Liver Cancer Institute, Zhongshan Hospital and Shanghai Medical School, Fudan University, Shanghai 200032, China Author contributions: Gu FM, Li QL and Gao Q contributed equally to this work Gu FM and Li QL performed the experi- ments and interpretation of the data and statistical analysis Zhou J and Gao Q contributed to the conception and design of the study Gu FM, Gao Q, Li QL and Zhou J wrote the manuscript Jiang JH, Huang XY, Pan JF and Fan J made substantial contri- bution to the design and conception of the study and interpreta- tion of data all authors read and approved the f inal manuscript. | 2011 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,34: | 18
Cellular automata pedestrian movement model considering human behavior显示文摘The pedestrian movement is more complex than vehicular flow for the reason that people are more flexible and intelligent than car. Without the limit of 搇anes?pedestrian movement is loose and free. Furthermore, they are easily affected by other walkers as well as the environ-ment around. In this paper some special technique is intro-duced considering human behavior to make the rules more reasonable. By simulating the two-dimension pedestrian movement, the phase transition phenomena of pedestrian movement, including the up walkers moving from the bottom to the upper boundary and the right walkers moving from the left to the right boundary, are presented. Studying on the effect of the system size on the critical density shows that the critical density is independent of the system size in the scope studied in this paper. | YANG Lizhong, FANG Weifeng, LI Jian, HUANG Rui & FAN Weicheng State Key Laboratory of Fire Science, University of Science and Tech-nology of China, Hefei 230026, China Correspondence should be addressed to Yang Lizhong (e-mail:zxd@ustc. edu.cn) | 2003 | Chinese Science Bulletin2003,48,16: | 16
EXAFS study on arsenic species and transformation in arsenic hyperaccumulator显示文摘Synchrotron radiation extended X-ray absorption fine structure (SR EXAFS) was employed to study the transformation of coordination environment and the redox speciation of arsenic in a newly discovered arsenic hyperaccumulator, Cretan brake (Pteris cretica L. var ner-vosa Thunb). It showed that the arsenic in the plant mainly coordinated with oxygen, except that some arsenic coordinated with S as As-GSH in root. The complexation of arsenic with GSH might not be the predominant detoxification mechanism in Cretan brake. Although some arsenic in root presented as As(V) in Na2HAsO4 treatments, most of arsenic in plant presented as As(III)-O in both treatments, indicating that As(V) tended to be reduced to As(III) after it was taken up into the root, and arsenic was kept as As(III) when it was transported to the above-ground tissues. The reduction of As(V) primarily proceeded in the root. | HUANG Zechun1, CHEN Tongbin1, LEI Mei1, HU Tiandou2 & HUANG Qifei1 1. | 10 | A new prognostic histopathologic classification of nasopharyngeal carcinoma显示文摘Background:The current World Health Organization(WHO) classification of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) con?veys little prognostic information. This study aimed to propose an NPC histopathologic classification that can poten?tially be used to predict prognosis and treatment response. Methods:We initially developed a histopathologic classification based on the morphologic traits and cell differentia?tion of tumors of 2716 NPC patients who were identified at Sun Yat?sen University Cancer Center(SYSUCC)(training cohort). Then, the proposed classification was applied to 1702 patients(retrospective validation cohort) from hospitals outside SYSUCC and 1613 patients(prospective validation cohort) from SYSUCC.The efficacy of radiochemotherapy and radiotherapy modalities was compared between the proposed subtypes. We used Cox proportional hazards models to estimate hazard ratios(HRs) with 95% confidence intervals(CI) for overall survival(OS).Results:The 5?year OS rates for all NPC patients who were diagnosed with epithelial carcinoma(EC;3708 patients),mixed sarcomatoid?epithelial carcinoma(MSEC;1247 patients),sarcomatoid carcinoma(SC;823 patients),and squamous cell carcinoma(SCC;253 patients) were 79.4%,70.5%,59.6%,and 42.6%,respectively(P < 0.001).In mul?tivariate models, patients with MSEC had a shorter OS than patients with EC(HR = 1.44,95% CI = 1.27–1.62),SC(HR = 2.00,95% CI = 1.76–2.28),or SCC(HR = 4.23,95% CI = 3.34–5.38).Radiochemotherapy significantly improved survival compared with radiotherapy alone for patients with EC(HR 49–0.75),and possibly for those with SCC(HR = 0.67,95% CI = 0.56–0.80),MSEC(HR = 0.58,95% CI = 0..74–1.28).= 0.63;95% CI = 0.40–0.98),but not for patients with SC(HR = 0.97,95% CI = 0Conclusions:The proposed classification offers more information for the prediction of NPC prognosis compared with the WHO classification and might be a valuable tool to guide treatment decisions for subtypes that are associ?ated with a poor prognosis. | Hai-Yun Wang Yih-Leong Chang Ka-Fai To Jacqueline S.G.Hwang Hai-Qiang Mai Yan-Fen Feng Ellen T.Chang Chen-Ping Wang Michael Koon Ming Kam Shie-Lee Cheah Ming Lee Li Gao Hui-Zhong Zhang Jie-Hua He Hao Jiang Pei-Qing Ma Xiao-Dong Zhu Liang Zeng Chun-Yan Chen Gang Chen Ma-Yan Huang Sha Fu Qiong Shao An-Jia Han Hai-Gang Li Chun-Kui Shao Pei-Yu Huang Chao-Nan Qian Tai-Xiang Lu Jin-Tian Li Weimin Ye Ingemar Ernberg Ho Keung Ng Joseph T.S.Wee Yi-Xin Zeng Hans-Olov Adami Anthony T.C.Chan Jian-Yong Shao | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2016,35,6: | 10
The 3-D non-axisymmetrical Lamb's problem in transversely isotropic saturated poroelastic media显示文摘Based on Biots theory on fluid-saturated porous media, the displacement functions are adopted to convert the 3-D Biots wave equations in the cylindrical coordinate for transversely isotropic saturated poroelastic media into two棗one 6-order and one 2-order棗uncoupling differential governing equations. Then, the differential equations are solved by the Fourier expanding and Hankel integral transform method. Integral solutions of soil skeleton displacements and pore pressure as well as the total stresses for poroelastic media are obtained. Furthermore, the systematic study on Lambs problems for the transversely isotropic saturated poroelastic media is performed. Integral solutions for surface radial, vertical and circumferential displacements are obtained in both cases of drained surface and undrained surface under the vertical and horizontal harmonic excitation force. In the end of this paper, the numerical examples are presented. The calculation results indicate that the difference between the model of isotropic saturated poroelastic media and that of transversely isotropic saturated poroelastic media is obvious. | HUANG Yi1 & WANG Xiaogang1,2 1. | 12 | Current progress in epigenetic research for hepato-carcinomagenesis显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma is the main type of primary liver cancer, and also one of the most malignant tumors. At present, the pathogenesis mechanisms of liver cancer are not entirely clear. It has been shown that inactivation of tumor suppressor genes and activation of oncogenes play a significant role in carcinogenesis, caused by the genetic and epigenetic aberrance. In the past, people generally thought that genetic mutation is a key event of tumor pathogenesis, and somatic mutation of tumor suppressor genes is in particular closely associated with oncogenesis. With deeper understanding of tumors in recent years, increasing evidence has shown that epigenetic silencing of those genes,as a result of aberrant hypermethylation of CpG islands in promoters and histone modification,is essential to carcinogenesis and metastasis. The term epigenetics refers to heritable changes in gene expression caused by regulation mechanisms, other than changes in the underlying DNA sequence.Specific epigenetic processes include DNA methylation, genome imprinting, chromotin remodeling, histone modification and microRNA regulations. This paper reviews recent epigenetics research progress in the hepatocellular carcinoma study, and tries to depict the relationships between hepatocellular carcinomagenesis and DNA methylation as well as microRNA regulation. | HUANG Jian National Human Genome Research Center at Shanghai-Ministry of Science and Technology to build a healthy and disease Ge-nomics Laboratory,Shanghai 201203,China | 2009 | Science China(Life Sciences)2009,52,1: | 9
Interface and properties of epoxy resin modified by elastomeric nano-particles显示文摘Study on a new composite of epoxy resin/elastomeric nano-particles (ENP) is re- ported in this paper, which shows that, in comparison with pure epoxy resin and epoxy toughened with CTBN, the composites of epoxy resin/carboxylic nitrile-butadiene ENP and epoxy resin/styrene butadiene vinyl-pyridine ENP possess both higher toughness and heat resistance. Both ENPs used in the study have an average size of less than 100 nm. Study on the epoxy network’s morphology and interface properties suggests that due to the chemical reaction be- tween ENP and epoxy resin and more hydrogen bonds between nitrile groups of the rubber and hydroxyl groups of the epoxy resin, stronger interaction at the larger interface may lead to the observed excellent properties of the epoxy resin toughened with ENP. | HUANG Fan1, LIU Yiqun1, ZHANG Xiaohong1, GAO Jianming1, SONG Zhihai1, TANG Banghui1, WEI Genshuan2 & QIAO Jinliang1 1. | 14 | The input/removal rates of size-fractionated ^210Po in the Jiulongjiang estuary and its implications显示文摘The geochemical behaviors of dissolved (<0.4 mm), low molecular weight (<10 kDa) and colloidal (10 kDa- 0.4 mm) 210Po in surface waters from the Jiulongjiang estuary were examined and the input/removal rates of different 210Po species were estimated. Both dissolved and low molecular weight 210Po were considerably removed during estuarine mixing. However, colloidal 210Po was removed only at low salinity regions (S <15) but had input behavior at high salin-ity surface waters (S >15). The input/removal rates of three species indicate that 210Po was removed rapidly in the Jiu-longjiang estuary. The discrepancy of input/removal rates between 210Po species suggests different geochemical be-havior and a dynamic transformation between 210Po species. Low molecular weight 210Po may be more appropriate for characterizing the 210Po behavior in estuary zone than the traditional dissolved 210Po. | YANG Weifeng, CHEN Min, HUANG Yipu, QIU Yusheng, ZHANG Lei, XING Na & LI Yanping Department of Oceanography, Xiamen University, Xiamen 361005, China Correspondence should be addressed to Huang Yipu (e-mail: yphuang@ jingxina.xmu.edu.cn) | 2003 | Chinese Science Bulletin2003,48,21: | 8
The impact of vegetation restoration on erosion-induced sediment yield in the middle Yellow River and management prospect显示文摘According to the characteristics of water and erosion environments of different natural zones on the Loess Plateau, this paper studies changes of vegetation types, distribution boundaries of forest and grass as well as restoration capacity of vegetation in different natural zones in the middle Yellow River. The annual precipitation of 530 mm is the critical annual pre-cipitation for forest and grass distribution in the middle Yellow River. Among the zonal and azonal environmental factors affecting watershed sediment yield, the intermediate diameter D50 (mm) of suspended load and forest coverage (V, %) play the leading role. Of them the effect weight of forest coverage (V, %) on catchments sediment yield is only 3.4% less than the role of the intermediate diameter (D50, mm), they are almost the same. To effectively control soil erosion in semiarid, especially in hilly-gullied areas and make sediment transport modulus reduce to less than 6000 t/km2, it is rather difficult by merely relying on natural restoration of forest. In the process of cultivated land conversion into forest land and grassland, measures suiting local conditions should be adopted in tree species selection and artificial afforestation (grass planting) based on management with biological measures for slopeland and engineering measures for hilly-gullied areas, so that watershed forest coverage in key counties can reach at least over 30%.Compared with the standard period of precipitation prior to the 1960s, with the decrease of an-nual precipitation at various periods, plant productivities decline to different degrees under natural conditions. The main reason accountable for the low survival rate of new seedlings and grass over years is due to precipitation decrease. In light with regression models of annual pre-cipitation and natural vegetation productivities, it is possible to obtain estimated values of wa-tershed natural vegetation productivity and eco-water consumption needed for the restoration to the standard period respectively for the present time or arbitrary period since the 1970s, thus providing a scientific basis for forest and grassland restoration in the middle Yellow River and the management prospect. | CHEN Hao1, ZHOU Jinxing2, CAI Qiangguo1, YUE Zhongqi3, LU Zhongchen4, LIANG Guanglin1& HUANG Jianguo5 1. | 17 | A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. | 19 | Ribozyme probe based on molecular beacon for real time monitoring of enzymatic cleavage process显示文摘Ribozyme probe based on molecular beacon (MBR) for monitoring enzymatic cleavage process in real time is designed and studied. The approach relies on ri-bozyme substrates modified at the two arms, with a fluores-cent moiety attached to the end of one arm and a non-fluorescent quenching moiety attached to the end of the other arm. MBR is employed to directly convert the cleavage information into fluorescence signal in real time. Compared with traditional approach, this method provides a no-radiolabeling, sensitive and effective way to research on the ribozyme activity, enzymatic dynamic process and ri-bozyme function during gene therapy. The activity of the ribozyme against hepatitis C virus RNA (HCV-RNA) is stud-ied based on this assay. | MENG Xiangxian, WANG Kemin, TAN Weihong, LI Jun, TANG Zhiwen, GUO Qiuping, HUANG Shasheng & LI Du State Key Laboratory of Chemo/Biosensing and Chemometrics, Institute of Biological Technology, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engi-neering, Hunan University, Changsha 410082, China Correspondence should be addressed to Wang Kemin (e-mail: kmwang @hnu.net.cn) | 2003 | Chinese Science Bulletin2003,48,23: | 3
| 20 | Reflection of plane electromagnetic waves from the surface of a perfect conductor moving in an arbitrary direction显示文摘The reflection of plane electromagnetic waves (TE wave and TM wave) from a perfect conductor which moves in an arbitrary direction is investigated. Based on Maxwell’s equations and the boundary conditions for moving boundary, the relation between the field vectors of reflected and incident waves, and the reflection coefficient are derived. The energy balance between incident and reflected waves, the force exerted by electromagnetic waves to the moving conductor are also discussed and some new conclusions are suggested for notice. | HE Qicai & HUANG Yaoxiong1.
