| 1 | 3D finite elements analysis of vertically loaded composite piled raft显示文摘In recent years,a new type of foundation named composite piled raft foundation (also called long short composite piled raft) has been developed.Where designing shallow foundations would mean unacceptable settlement,or other environmental risks exist which could impair the structure in the future,composite piled raft foundations could be used.Finite element method was applied to study the behavior of this type of foundation subjected to vertical loading.In order to determine an optimal pile arrangement pattern which yields the minimum settlement,various pile arrangements under different vertical stress levels were investigated.Results show that with increasing the vertical stress on the raft,the effectiveness of the arrangements of short and long piles become more visible.In addition,a new factor named 'composite piled raft efficiency' (CPRE) has been defined which determines the efficiency of long short piles arrangement in a composite piled raft foundation.This factor will increase when short piles take more axial stresses and long piles take less axial stresses.In addition,it is found that the changes in settlements for different long short piles arrangement are in a well agreement with changes in values of CPRE ratio.Thus,CPRE ratio can be used as a factor to determine the efficiency of piles arrangements in composite piled raft foundation from the view point of reducing raft settlements. | Reza Ziaie Moayed Ehsan Izadi Mehrad Mirsepahi | 2013 | Journal of Central South University2013,20,6: | 7 |

The catalyst can be readily recovered using a magnet and reused several times without loss in activity or selectivity. | 3 | Long term performance of warm mix asphalt versus hot mix asphalt显示文摘The fatigue behavior, indirect tensile strength (ITS) and resilient modulus test results for warm mix asphalt (WMA) as well as hot mix asphalt (HMA) at different ageing levels were evaluated. Laboratory-prepared samples were aged artificially in the oven to simulate short-term and long term ageing in accordance with AASHTO R30 and then compared with unaged specimens. Beam fatigue testing was performed using beam specimens at 25℃ based on AASHTO T321 standard. Fatigue life, bending stiffness and dissipated energy for both unaged and aged mixtures were calculated using four-point beam fatigue test results. Three-point bending tests were performed using semi-circular bend (SCB) specimens at -10℃ and the critical mode I stress intensity factor K I was then calculated using the peak load obtained from the load-displacement curve. | 4 | Enhancement of simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorus removal using intermittent aeration mechanism显示文摘Biological nutrient removal grows into complicated scenario due to the microbial consortium shift and kinetic competition between phosphorus(P)-accumulating and nitrogen(N)-removing microorganisms.In this study,three sequential batch reactors with constant operational conditions except aeration patterns at 6 h cycle periods were tested.Intermittent aeration was applied to develop a robust nutrient removal system aimed to achieve high energy saving and removal efficiency.The results showed higher correspondence of Puptake,polymeric substance synthesis and glycogen degradation in intermittent-aeration with longer interval periods compared to continuous-aeration.Increasing the intermittentaeration duration from 25 to 50 min,resulted in higher process performance where the system exhibited approximately 30%higher nutrient removal.This study indicated that nutrient removal strongly depends on reaction phase configuration representing the importance of aeration pattern.The microbial community examined the variation in abundance of bacterial groups in suspended sludge,where the 50 min intermittent aeration,favored the growth of P-accumulating organisms and nitrogen removalmicrobial groups,indicating the complications related to nutrient removal systems.Successful intermittently aerated process with high capability of simple implementation to conventional systems by elemental retrofitting,is applicable for upgrading wastewater treatment plants.With aeration as a major operational cost,this process is a promising approach to potentially remove nutrients in high competence,in distinction to optimizing cost-efficacy of the system. | Parnian Izadi Parin Izadi Ahmed Eldyasti | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,11: | 5 |
| 5 | Effects of porous material on transient natural convection heat transfer of nano-fluids inside a triangular chamber显示文摘This study numerically investigates the impact of porous materials,nano-particle types,and their concentrations on transient natural convection heat transfer of nano-fluid inside a porous chamber with a triangular section.The governing equations of the two-phase mixture model are separated on the computational domain and solved using the Finite Volume Method,taking into account the Darcy–Brinkman model for porous medium.It was observed that convection heat transfer inside the triangular chamber consists of three stages named initial,transient,and semi-steady.The features of each step are provided in detail.The results suggested that the use of a hybrid nano-fluid(water/aluminum oxide-cooper)inside a porous glass material and an increase in volume fraction of nano-particles have adverse effects on heat transfer rate.In contrast,as the nano-particle volume fraction of the single nano-fluid(water/aluminum oxide)inside the chamber increased,convection heat transfer rate improved.At the same time,it was observed that the use of both nano-fluids(single and hybrid)in the porous environment of the aluminum foam could improve convection. | Mohsen Izadi | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,5: | 4 |
| 6 | Isolation of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia from clinical samples: An investigation of patterns motility and production of melanin pigment显示文摘Objectives: To investigate possible sources of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia(S. maltophilia) in the clinical environment.Methods: Different samples were collected from Amol City of Iran. Steps for the identification of S. maltophilia included culturing, biochemical tests, polymerase chain reaction(PCR) of 16 S r RNA gene and 23 S r RNA gene. In addition, production of melanin pigment and patterns of motility of the bacteria, were also investigated.Results: In our study, 20 S. maltophilia strains were isolated from clinical sources,oxygen manometer apparatus of hospitals were 7/110(6.36%), blood was 1/777(0.13%),sputum was 4/40(4%), urine was 1/2 947(0.03%), tap water was 1/240(0.42%) and dental suction was 6/120(5%). The isolated bacteria showed production of melanin pigment with rates of strong, moderate, weak, and lack of pigment. Types of motilities were seen in isolates.Conclusions: The highest percentage of bacteria is isolated of oxygen manometer system and dental suction, yet has not been reported from oxygen manometer system. | 7 | NeuroAid (MLC601) versus piracetam in the recovery of post-infarct homonymous hemianopsia显示文摘In the clinic,the natural recovery rate of homonymous hemianopsia caused by occipital lobe infarction is low.At present,ideal therapeutic effects of piracetam for improving visual field defects following homonymous hemianopsia do not exist.The present randomized,controlled study compared the effects of NeuroAid (MLC601) versus piracetam for improving visual field defects in post-infarct homonymous hemianopsia patients matched for age and sex.After 3 months of treatment with NeuroAid (MLC601) or piracetam,visual field defects were significantly improved,compared with prior to treatment (P < 0.001).After treatment with MLC601,relative reduction of right and left visual field defects was 45% and 45.7%,respectively,while relative reduction after treatment with piracetam was 32.7% and 30.3%,respectively.These findings suggested that MLC601 was superior to piracetam for reducing visual field defects in homonymous hemianopsia patients. | Kavian Ghandehari Zahra Izadi Mood Saeed Ebrahimzadeh David Picard Yue Zhang | 2011 | Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,6: | 3 |
