1Discovery of high-entropy ceramics via machine learning显示文摘Although high-entropy materials are attracting considerable interest due to a combination of useful properties and promising applications, predicting their formation remains a hindrance for rational discovery of new systems.Experimental approaches are based on physical intuition and/or expensive trial and error strategies. Most computational methods rely on the availability of sufficient experimental data and computational power.Machine learning(ML)applied to materials science can accelerate development and reduce costs. In this study,we propose an ML method, leveraging thermodynamic and compositional attributes of a given material for predicting the synthesizability(i.e.,entropy-forming ability)of disordered metal carbides.Kevin Kaufmann Daniel Maryanovsky William M.Mellor Chaoyi Zhu Alexander S.Rosengarten Tyler J.Harrington Corey Oses Cormac Toher Stefano Curtarolo Kenneth S.Vecchio 2020npj Computational Materials2020,,1:5
2A phylum level analysis reveals lipoprotein biosynthesis to be a fundamental property of bacteria显示文摘Bacterial lipoproteins are proteins that are post-trans-lationally modified with a diacylglyceride at an N-terminal cysteine, which serves to tether these proteins to the outer face of the plasma membrane or to the outer membrane. This paper reviews recent insights into the enzymology of bacterial lipoprotein biosynthe-sis and localization. Moreover,we use bioinformatic analyses of bacterial lipoprotein signal peptide features and of the key biosynthetic enzymes to consider the distribution of lipoprotein biosynthesis at the phylum level.Iain C.Sutcliffe Dean J.Harrington Matthew I.Hutchings 2012Protein & Cell2012,3,3:3
3Analysis of the pressure at a vertical barrier due to extreme wave run-up over variable bathymetry显示文摘The pressure load at a vertical barrier caused by extreme wave run-up is analysed numerically, using the conformal mapping method to solve the two-dimensional free surface Euler equations in a pseudospectral model. Previously this problem has been examined in the case of a flat-bottomed geometry. Here, the model is extended to consider a varying bathymetry. Numerical experiments show that an increasing step-like bottom profile may enhance the extreme run-up of long waves but result in a reduced pressure load.J.Brennan C.Clancy J.Harrington R.Cox F.Dias 2017Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2017,7,5:0
