Infectious diseases in the aftermath of monsoon flooding in Pakistan显示文摘Pakistan is ranked 9th in terms of flood-affected countries worldwide. In the summer of 2010,the northern province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa received more than 312 mm of rain in a 56 hour period. This resulted in over 1 600 deaths across the region. In addition, over 14 million people were directly affected by this record-breaking deluge.Flood affected regions serve as ideal breeding grounds for pathogens, leading to the spread of diseases. The poor standards of hygiene in camps set up for individuals displaced by the floods also contribute to this.It is essential that those involved in relief efforts are aware of the epidemiology of diseases that have historically seen a sudden upsurge after natural disasters.Keeping this in mind,we conducted a simple review of literature. An extensive literature search was conducted using the PubMed data base and online search engines.Articles published in the last 20 years were considered along with some historical articles where a background was required.Seven major diseases were identified to increase substantially in the aftermath of natural disasters. They were then classified into acute and sub-acute settings.Diarrhea, skin&eye infections and leptospirosis were identified in the acute setting while malaria, leishmaniasis, respiratory infections and hepatitis were identified in the sub-acute setting. | Maryam Baqir Zain A Sobani Amyn Bhamani Nida Shahab Bham Sidra Abid Javeria Farook M Asim Beg | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2012,2,1: | 2
Segmentation and Classification of Stomach Abnormalities Using Deep Learning显示文摘An automated system is proposed for the detection and classification of GI abnormalities. The proposed method operates under two pipeline procedures:(a)segmentation of the bleeding infection region and(b)classification of GI abnormalities by deep learning. The first bleeding region is segmented using a hybrid approach. The threshold is applied to each channel extracted from the original RGB image.Later, all channels are merged through mutual information and pixel-based techniques. As a result, the image is segmented.Texture and deep learning features are extracted in the proposed classification task. The transfer learning(TL)approach is used for the extraction of deep features. The Local Binary Pattern(LBP)method is used for texture features.Later,an entropy-based feature selection approach is implemented to select the best features of both deep learning and texture vectors. The selected optimal features are combined with a serial-based technique and the resulting vector is fed to the Ensemble Learning Classifier. The experimental process is evaluated on the basis of two datasets:Private and KVASIR.The accuracy achieved is 99.8 per cent for the private data set and 86.4 percent for the KVASIR data set.It can be confirmed that the proposed method is effective in detecting and classifying GI abnormalities and exceeds other methods of comparison. | Javeria Naz Muhammad Attique Khan Majed Alhaisoni Oh-Young Song Usman Tariq Seifedine Kadry | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,10: | 1
Heart failure in subjects with chronic kidney disease:Best management practices显示文摘Renal dysfunction is common in patients with heart failure(HF) and can complicate HF therapy.Treating patients with HF and kidney disease is difficult and requires careful assessment, monitoring and balancing of risk between potential benefits of treatment and adverse impact on renal function. In this review,we address the pathophysiological contexts and management options in this adversarial relation between the heart and the kidney, which exists in a substantial proportion of HF patients.Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors and β-blockers are associated with similar reductions in mortality in patients with and without renal insufficiency but usually are less often prescribed in patients with renal insufficiency.Careful monitoring of side effects and renal function should be done in all patients with renal insufficiency and prompt measures should be adopted to prevent further complications. | Farhan Aslam Attiya Haque Javeria Haque Jacob Joseph | 2010 | World Journal of Cardiology2010,2,5: | 1
Thermal Analysis of MHD Non-Newtonian Nanofluids over a Porous Media显示文摘In the present research,Tiwari and Das model are used for the impact of a magnetic field on non-Newtonian nanofluid flow in the presence of injection and suction. The PDEs are converted into ordinary differential equations(ODEs)using the similarity method. The obtained ordinary differential equations are solved numerically using shooting method along with RK-4.Part of the present study uses nanoparticles(NPs)like TiO_(2) andAl_(2)O_(3) and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC/water)is considered as a base fluid(BF).This study is conducted to find the influence of nanoparticles,Prandtl number, and magnetic field on velocity and temperature profile, however, the Nusselt number and coefficient of skin friction parameters are also presented in detail with the variation of nanoparticles and parameters. The obtained results of the present study are presented usingMATLAB.In addition to these, some simulations of partial differential equations are also shown using software for graphing surface plots of velocity profile and streamlines along with surface plots and isothermal contours of the temperature profile. | Asad Ejaz Imran Abbas Yasir Nawaz Muhammad Shoaib Arif Wasfi Shatanawi Javeria Nawaz Abbasi | 2020 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2020,,12: | 1

Urological manifestations and treatment of the primary systemic vasculitides显示文摘The primary systemic vasculitides(PSV) are a group of rare inflammatory disorders affecting blood vessels of varying size and multiple organs. Urological manifestations of PSV are uncommon. Testicular vasculitis is the most commonly reported finding and is associated with Polyarteritis Nodosa(PAN), Henoch-Sch?nleinPurpura(HSP), anti-neutrophil cytoplasm antibody associated Vasculitides(AAV), Giant Cell Arteritis(GCA) and Kawasaki disease. Prostatic vasculitis has been reported in association with GCA and AAV. Ureteric involvement has been noted in PAN, HSP and AAV. Other urogenital manifestations of PSV include genital ulceration and bladder dysfunction in Beh?ets Disease and haematuria which is commonly seen in many of the PSV. Finally, therapies used to treat the PSV, especially cyclophosphamide, are associated with urological sideeffects including haemorrhagic cystitis and urothelial malignancy. The aim of this review is to examine how the urological system is involved in the PSV. Each PSV is examined in turn, with a brief clinical description of the disease followed by a description of the urological manifestations and management. Identification of urological manifestations of PSV is important as in many cases symptoms may improve with immunosuppressive therapy, avoiding the need for invasive surgery. Additionally, patients who present with isolated urogenital PSV are at higher risk of developing subsequent systemic vasculitis and will need to be followed up closely. | Javeria Peracha Matthew David Morgan | 2015 | World Journal of Clinical Urology2015,4,1: | 0
Detection of Omicron Caused Pneumonia from Radiology Images Using Convolution Neural Network(CNN)显示文摘COVID-19 disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus has created social and economic disruption across theworld. The ability of the COVID-19 virus to quickly mutate and transfer has created serious concerns across the world. It is essential to detectCOVID-19 infection caused by different variants to take preventive measures accordingly. The existing method of detection of infections caused by COVID-19 and its variants is costly and time-consuming.The impacts of theCOVID-19 pandemic in developing countries are very drastic due to the unavailability of medical facilities and infrastructure to handle the pandemic.Pneumonia is the major symptom of COVID-19 infection. The radiology of the lungs in varies in the case of bacterial pneumonia as compared to COVID-19-caused pneumonia. The pattern of pneumonia in lungs in radiology images can also be used to identify the cause associated with pneumonia. In this paper,we propose the methodology of identifying the cause(either due to COVID-19 or other types of infections)of pneumonia from radiology images.Furthermore, because different variants of COVID-19 lead to different patterns of pneumonia, the proposed methodology identifies pneumonia, the COVID-19 caused pneumonia, and Omicron caused pneumonia from the radiology images. To fulfill the above-mentioned tasks,we have used three Convolution Neural Networks(CNNs)at each stage of the proposed methodology. The results unveil that the proposed step-by-step solution enhances the accuracy of pneumonia detection along with finding its cause, despite having a limited dataset. | Arfat Ahmad Khan Malik Muhammad Ali Shahid Rab Nawaz Bashir Salman Iqbal Arshad Shehzad Ahmad Shahid Javeria Maqbool Chitapong Wechtaisong | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,2: | 0
SARS-CoV-2: Has artificial intelligence stood the test of time显示文摘Artificial intelligence (AI) has proven time and time again to be a game-changer innovation in every walk of life, including medicine. Introduced by Dr. Gunn in 1976 to accurately diagnose acute abdominal pain and list potential differentials, AI has since come a long way. In particular, AI has been aiding in radiological diagnoses with good sensitivity and specificity by using machine learning algorithms. With the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, AI has proven to be more than just a tool to facilitate healthcare workers in decision making and limiting physician-patient contact during the pandemic. It has guided governments and key policymakers in formulating and implementing laws, such as lockdowns and travel restrictions, to curb the spread of this viral disease. This has been made possible by the use of social media to map severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 hotspots, laying the basis of the 'smart lockdown' strategy that has been adopted globally. However, these benefits might be accompanied with concerns regarding privacy and unconsented surveillance, necessitating authorities to develop sincere and ethical government–public relations. | Mir Ibrahim Sajid Shaheer Ahmed Usama Waqar Javeria Tariq Mohsin Chundrigarh Samira Shabbir Balouch Sajid Abaidullah | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,15: | 0
A Finite Difference Method and Effective Modification of Gradient Descent Optimization Algorithm for MHD Fluid Flow Over a Linearly Stretching Surface显示文摘Present contribution is concerned with the construction and application of a numerical method for the fluid flow problem over a linearly stretching surface with the modification of standard Gradient descent Algorithm to solve the resulted difference equation. The flow problem is constructed using continuity, and Navier Stoke equations and these PDEs are further converted into boundary value problem by applying suitable similarity transformations.A central finite difference method is proposed that gives third-order accuracy using three grid points. The stability conditions of the present proposed method using a Gauss-Seidel iterative procedure is found using Von-Neumann stability criteria and order of the finite difference method is proved by applying the Taylor series on the discretised equation. The comparison of the presently modified optimisation algorithm with the Gauss-Seidel iterative method and standard Newton’s method in optimisation is also made.It can be concluded that the presently modified optimisation Algorithm takes a few iterations to converge with a small value of the parameter contained in it compared with the standard descent algorithm that may take millions of iterations to converge. The present modification of the steepest descent method converges faster than Gauss-Seidel method and standard steepest descent method, and it may also overcome the deficiency of singular hessian arise in Newton’s method for some of the cases that may arise in optimisation problem(s). | Yasir Nawaz Muhammad Shoaib Arif Mairaj Bibi Javeria Nawaz Abbasi Umer Javed Amna Nazeer | 2020 | Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,2: | 0
Numerical Treatment for Stochastic Computer Virus Model显示文摘This writing is an attempt to explain a reliable numerical treatment for stochastic computer virus model. We are comparing the solutions of stochastic and deterministic computer virus models. This paper reveals that a stochastic computer virus paradigm is pragmatic in contrast to the deterministic computer virus model.Outcomes of threshold number C^?hold in stochastic computer virus model. If C^?<1 then in such a condition virus controlled in the computer population while C^?>1 shows virus persists in the computer population.Unfortunately, stochastic numerical methods fail to cope with large step sizes of time. The suggested structure of the stochastic non-standard finite difference scheme(SNSFD)maintains all diverse characteristics such as dynamical consistency, boundedness and positivity as defined by Mickens. The numerical treatment for the stochastic computer virus model manifested that increasing the antivirus ability ultimates small virus dominance in a computer community. | Ali Raza Muhammad Shoaib Arif Muhammad Rafiq Mairaj Bibi Muhammad Naveed Muhammad Usman Iqbal Zubair Butt Hafiza Anum Naseem Javeria Nawaz Abbasi | 2019 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2019,,8: | 0
Numerical Simulations for Stochastic Computer Virus Propagation Model显示文摘We are presenting the numerical simulations for the stochastic computer virus propagation model in this manuscript. We are comparing the solutions of stochastic and deterministic computer virus models.Outcomes of a threshold number R0 hold in stochastic computer virus model. If R_(0)<1 then in such a condition virus controlled in the computer population while R_(0)>1 shows virus rapidly spread in the computer population.Unfortunately, stochastic numerical techniques fail to cope with large step sizes of time. The suggested structure of the stochastic non-standard finite difference technique can never violate the dynamical properties. On this basis,we can suggest a collection of strategies for removing virus’s propagation in the computer population. | Muhammad Shoaib Arif Ali Raza Muhammad Rafiq Mairaj Bibi Javeria Nawaz Abbasi Amna Nazeer Umer Javed | 2020 | Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,1: | 0
Face Mask and Social Distance Monitoring via Computer Vision and Deployable System Architecture显示文摘The coronavirus(COVID-19)is a lethal virus causing a rapidly infec-tious disease throughout the globe.Spreading awareness, taking preventive mea-sures,imposing strict restrictions on public gatherings, wearing facial masks, and maintaining safe social distancing have become crucial factors in keeping the virus at bay.Even though the world has spent a whole year preventing and curing the disease caused by the COVID-19 virus, the statistics show that the virus can cause an outbreak at any time on a large scale if thorough preventive measures are not maintained accordingly.Tofight the spread of this virus, technologically developed systems have become very useful. However, the implementation of an automatic, robust, continuous, and lightweight monitoring system that can be efficiently deployed on an embedded device still has not become prevalent in the mass community. This paper aims to develop an automatic system to simul-taneously detect social distance and face mask violation in real-time that has been deployed in an embedded system.A modified version of a convolutional neural network, the ResNet50 model, has been utilized to identify masked faces in peo-ple.You Only Look Once(YOLOv3)approach is applied for object detection and the DeepSORT technique is used to measure the social distance. The efficiency of the proposed model is tested on real-time video sequences taken from a video streaming source from an embedded system,Jetson Nano edge computing device, and smartphones,Android and iOS applications.Empirical results show that the implemented model can efficiently detect facial masks and social distance viola-tions with acceptable accuracy and precision scores. | Meherab Mamun Ratul Kazi Ayesha Rahman Javeria Fazal Naimur Rahman Abanto Riasat Khan | 2023 | Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,,3: | 0

Exploring the Advantages and Disadvantages of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement显示文摘This paper explores whether the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement(FTA),which entered into ejfect in 2007,has led to advantages or disadvantages for the participating countries. It assesses the gains and losses associated with the agreement rigorously using two different approaches.First, the revealed comparative advantage index is calculated for 10 commodity groups. This identifies the commodity groups in which the participating countries have a comparative advantage.Second, trade creation and trade diversion are estimated for overall imports and for the commodity-group level imports. This analysis provides useful information about the commodity groups in which a particular party to the FTA is experiencing an advantage or a disadvantage. The findings of the study show that China has an advantage in producing capital-intensive goods whereas Pakistan has a comparative advantage in the production of primary and semimanufactured goods. The empirical findings also indicate that, overall, the formation of the bilateral free trade agreement between Pakistan and China enhances trade with member countries as well as with nonparticipating countries. | Mirajul Haq Javeria Saeed Muhammad Akram | 2021 | China & World Economy2021,29,3: | 0
Cognitive Skill Enhancement System Using Neuro-Feedback for ADHD Patients显示文摘The National Health Interview Survey(NHIS)shows that there are 13.2%of children at the age of 11 to 17 who are suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD),globally. The treatment methods for ADHD are either psycho-stimulant medications or cognitive therapy. These traditional methods, namely therapy, need a large number of visits to hospitals and include medication.Neurogames could be used for the effective treatment of ADHD.It could be a helpful tool in improving children and ADHD patients’cognitive skills by using Brain–Computer Interfaces(BCI).BCI enables the user to interact with the computer through brain activity using Electroencephalography(EEG),which can be used to control different computer applications by processing acquired brain signals. This paper proposes a system based on neurofeedback that can improve cognitive skills such as attention level, mediation level, and spatial memory. The proposed system consists of a puzzle game where its complexity increases with each level.EEG signals were acquired using the Neurosky headset;then sent the signals to the designed gaming environment. This neurofeedback system was tested on 10 different subjects, and their performance was calculated using different evaluation measures. The results show that this game improves player overall performance from 74%to 98%by playing each game level. | Muhammad Usman Ghani Khan Zubaira Naz Javeria Khan Tanzila Saba Ibrahim Abunadi Amjad Rehman Usman Tariq | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,8: | 0
Structure-Preserving Dynamics of Stochastic Epidemic Model with the Saturated Incidence Rate显示文摘The structure-preserving features of the nonlinear stochastic models are positivity, dynamical consistency and boundedness. These features have a significant role in different fields of computational biology and many more.Unfortunately, the existing stochastic approaches in literature do not restore aforesaid structure-preserving features, particularly for the stochastic models. Therefore, these gaps should be occupied up in literature,by constructing the structure-preserving features preserving numerical approach. This writing aims to describe the structure-preserving dynamics of the stochastic model. We have analysed the effect of reproduction number in stochastic modelling the same as described in the literature for deterministic modelling. The usual explicit stochastic numerical approaches are time-dependent.We have developed the implicitly driven explicit approach for the stochastic epidemic model. We have proved that the newly developed approach is preserving the structural, dynamical properties as positivity, boundedness and dynamical consistency. Finally, convergence analysis of a newly developed approach and graphically illustration is also presented. | Wasfi Shatanawi Muhammad Shoaib Arif Ali Raza Muhammad Rafiq Mairaj Bibi Javeria Nawaz Abbasi | 2020 | Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,8: | 0
