1Sustainable Practice in Pavement Engineering through Value-Added Collective Recycling of Waste Plastic and Waste Tyre Rubber显示文摘Waste plastics,such as waste polyethylene terephthalate(PET)beverage bottles and waste rubber tyres are major municipal solid wastes,which may lead to various environmental problems if they are not appropriately recycled.In this study,the feasibility of collectively recycling the two types of waste into performance-increasing modifiers for asphalt pavements was analyzed.This study aimed to investigate the recycling mechanisms of waste PET-derived additives under the treatment of two amines,triethylenetetramine(TETA)and ethanolamine(EA),and characterize the performances of these additives in modifying rubberized bitumen,a bitumen modified by waste tyre rubber.To this end,infrared spectroscopy and thermal analyses were carried out on the two PET-derived additives(PET–TETA and PET–EA).In addition,infrared spectroscopy,viscosity,dynamic shear rheology,and multiple stress creep recovery tests were performed on the rubberized bitumen samples modified by the two PET-derived additives.We concluded that waste PET can be chemically upcycled into functional additives,which can increase the overall performance of the rubberized bitumen.The recycling method developed in this study not only helps alleviate the landfilling problems of both waste PET plastic and scrap tyres,but also turns these wastes into value-added new materials for building durable pavements.Xiong Xu Zhen Leng Jingting Lan Wei Wang Jiangmiao Yu Yawei Bai Anand Sreeram Jing Hu 2021Engineering2021,7,6:7
2A state-of-the-art review of asphalt pavement surface texture and its measurement techniques显示文摘To understand the research status of asphalt pavement texture,the related achievements and progress of pavement surface texture were systematically sorted out from three aspects:the characterization of pavement surface texture,the texture measurement and evaluation,and the relationship between texture and the skid resistance.Based on the statistical geometric characteristics,the spectral characteristics,the fractal characteristics and the multifractal characteristics,the characteristics of pavement texture were discussed.The test methods of pavement texture were divided into two categories:direct measurement methods and indirect measurement methods.The advantages and disadvantages of each measurement method were summarized.The effects of macro-texture and micro-texture on asphalt pavement were discussed,respectively.The relationship between texture and skid resistance was studied.This review shows that multifractal theory should be further studied from the aspect of road engineering.High-precision non-contact integrated detection technology should be further studied to meet the needs of complex testing environments.The method of finite element numerical simulation has potential for the analysis of pavement skid resistance.In addition,methods such as big data analysis,neural network,and deep learning should be studied to achieve the intelligent perception and management of the whole state of skid resistance prediction.Siyu Chen Xiyin Liu Haoyuan Luo Jiangmiao Yu Fuda Chen Yang Zhang Tao Ma Xiaoming Huang 2022Journal of Road Engineering2022,2,2:3

4Comparative Analysis of Rheological Properties and Modification Mechanism of SBS-Graphene Composite Modified Binder显示文摘SBS(styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer)has been widely used in pavement industry as an asphalt modifier.Nanomaterials can further enhance the performance of SBS modified asphalt.However,rare studies investigate the feasibility of using graphene as a performance enhancer of SBS modified asphalt.To fill this gap,comprehensive experimental tests including chemical and mechanical test were carried out on SBS-graphene modified asphalt and SEBS(styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block copolymer,which is a hydrogenated polymer of SBS)modified asphalt.Graphene with different dimensions and contents was taken into consideration in this study.Based on the experimental work,it can be concluded that graphene improves the mid-temperature performance of SBS modified asphalt.Compared with two-dimensional graphene,three-dimensional graphene has a greater advantage and the enhancement effect increases with the increase of its dosage.In addition,the cross-linked structure of SBS-graphene composite improves the distribution of SBS in asphalt,which improves the overall performance of SBS modified asphalt.Jiangmiao YU Nikun YANG Huayang YU Svetlana Shekhovtsova Evgenii Korolev 2020Research and Application of Materials Science2020,2,1:1
5Treatment on Crumb Rubber Modifier towards Enhanced Storage Stability of Asphalt Rubber显示文摘Breaking waste tires into crumb and adding it to asphalt as modifier to prepare asphalt rubber (AR) is an effective method to solve the waste tire problem and improve the performance of matrix asphalt. The modified asphalt has better high and low temperature performance. However, the segregation of the crumb rubber modifier (CRM) causes storage instability of the AR. At present, studies have been conducted that improving the solubility of the CRM or adding some macromolecular polymer can improve the storage stability of the AR. However, the structure and polarity of the CRM surface are rarely explored for its correlation with the storage stability of AR. In this paper, the surface structure and polarity of the CRMs was changed by four different reagents, and the properties of the ARs prepared by the CRM were measured to analyze the adhesion between the CRM and the asphalt. It is concluded that the CRM with rough porous and non-polar surface has higher storage stability due to the better interfacial adhesion, which provides a research direction for improving the storage stability of rubber asphalt.Guocheng Su Jiangmiao Yu Mijash Vaidya 2019智能城市应用2019,2,5:0
6Long-term performance of recycled asphalt mixtures containing high RAP and RAS显示文摘The application of reclaimed asphalt pavement(RAP)and reclaimed asphalt shingles(RAS)on asphalt pavement can reduce the asphalt paving cost,conserve energy and protect the environment.However,the use of high contents of RAP and RAS in asphalt pavement may lead to durability issues,especially the fatigue cracking and thermal cracking.It is necessary to conduct a series of analyses on asphalt mixtures containing high RAP and RAS,and seek methods to enhance their long-term performance.This paper provides a comprehensive over-view of the long-term performance of recycled asphalt mixtures containing high contents of RAP and RAS.The findings in this research show that rutting resistance of high recycled asphalt mixtures is not a concern,whereas their resistance to fatigue and thermal cracking is not conclusive.Recycling agents can be used to improve the thermal cracking resistance of high recycled asphalt mixtures.An optimum decision on recycling agents will improve the durability properties of high recycled asphalt mixtures.It is recommended that to use a balanced mixture design approach with testing of the blended asphalt binders will provide better understanding of long-term performance of recycled asphalt mixtures containing high RAP and RAS.Jiangmiao Yu Zengyao Lin Guilian Zou Huayang Yu Zhen Leng Yuan Zhang 2024Journal of Road Engineering2024,4,1:0
