A preliminary study of chronology for a newly-discovered ancient city and five archaeological sites in Lop Nor, China显示文摘In the past century, it has long been debated in the archeological, historical, geographical, and many other related communities where the capital of the Luolan and Shanshan states was in the Lop Nor region. This paper presents three AMS radiocarbon ages from a newly-discovered ancient city at about 6.3 km to the northwest of the Xiaohe Graveyard, and fifteen new radiocarbon ages from the Loulan (LA), LE, Qieerqiduke, Milan, and Tuyin sites in Lop Nor. The new investigation shows that the age of newly-discovered ancient city is at ca. 440–500 AD, belonging to the Northern Wei Dynasty (386–534 AD). This is about 100–300 years younger than Loulan (ca. 100–230 AD), LE (ca. 230–300 AD), Qieerqiduke (ca. 200 AD), and Tuyin (ca. 100 AD). A wooden beam from Milan fortress is dated to ca. 370 AD, while the age on north wall at west gate of the fortress is younger, around 770 AD, suggesting that its construction time might be at the Tang Dynasty. According to 14C ages, cultural relic style, and the geographical location, the newly-discovered ancient city is probably attributed to 'Zhubin City', as documented in the historical literature. Temporally, we name the city 'ancient Zhubin River City'. However, the characteristics and functions of this ancient city are largely unknown and need more detailed archaeological excavation and investigation in the future. Given its location near the ancient postal relay of Alagan on the crossroad, there is no doubt that the newly-discovered city was at an important geographical position on the Silk Road, no matter whether it was called 'Zhubin City', or 'Lielo City', or the capital of Loulan state–'Yuni City'. Our findings provide new evidence for the temporal and spatial distribution of ancient relic sites and the development of civilization in western China, thus contributing to our understanding of the relationship between human activities and environmental change in the Lop Nor region.LU HouYuan XIA XunCheng LIU JiaQi QIN XiaoGuang WANG FuBao YIDILISI Abuduresule ZHOU Li Ping MU GuiJin JIAO YingXin LI JingZhi 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,1:8
Changes in sediment discharge in a sediment-rich region of the Yellow River from 1955 to 2010: implications for further soil erosion control显示文摘The well-documented decrease in the discharge of sediment into the Yellow River has attracted considerable attention in recent years. The present study analyzed the spatial and temporal variation of sediment yield based on data from 46 hydrological stations in the sediment-rich region of the Yellow River from 1955 to 2010. The results showed that since 1970 sediment yield in the region has clearly decreased at different rates in the 45 sub-areas controlled by hydrological stations. The decrease in sediment yield was closely related to the intensity and extent of soil erosion control measures and rainstorms that occurred in different periods and sub-areas. The average sediment delivery modulus(SDM) in the study area decreased from 7,767.4 t/(km2?a) in 1951–1969 to 980.5 t/(km2?a) in 2000–2010. Our study suggested that 65.5% of the study area with the SDM below 1,000 t/(km2?a) is still necessary to control soil deterioration caused by erosion, and soil erosion control measures should be further strengthened in the areas with the SDM above 1,000 t/(km2?a).JuYing JIAO ZhiJie WANG GuangJu ZHAO WanZhong WANG XingMin MU 2014Journal of Arid Land2014,6,5:7
Exosomes rewire the cartilage microenvironment in osteoarthritis:from intercellular communication to therapeutic strategies显示文摘Osteoarthritis(OA)is a prevalent degenerative joint disease characterized by cartilage loss and accounts for a major source of pain and disability worldwide. However, effective strategies for cartilage repair are lacking, and patients with advanced OA usually need joint replacement.Better comprehending OA pathogenesis may lead to transformative therapeutics.Recently studies have reported that exosomes act as a new means of cell-to-cell communication by delivering multiple bioactive molecules to create a particular microenvironment that tunes cartilage behavior.Specifically, exosome cargos, such as noncoding RNAs(ncRNAs)and proteins, play a crucial role in OA progression by regulating the proliferation, apoptosis, autophagy, and inflammatory response of joint cells, rendering them promising candidates for OA monitoring and treatment. This review systematically summarizes the current insight regarding the biogenesis and function of exosomes and their potential as therapeutic tools targeting cell-to-cell communication in OA,suggesting new realms to improve OA management.Yuangang Wu Jiao Li Yi Zeng Wenchen Pu Xiaoyu Mu Kaibo Sun Yong Peng Bin Shen 2022International Journal of Oral Science2022,14,3:4

High electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution activity on a coupled Ru and CoO hybrid electrocatalyst显示文摘Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is an essential step in converting renewable energy to clean hydrogen fuel. Exploring highly efficient, stable and cost-effective electrocatalysts is of crucial significance for sustainable HER. Here, we report the design of a coupled ruthenium/cobalt oxide (Ru/CoO) hybrid electrocatalyst for alkaline HER. In this hybrid metal/oxide system, the complicated alkaline HER pathways are overall facilitated;oxygen (O)-vacancy-abundant oxide enhances water splitting and Ru promotes successive hydrogen intermediates to generate hydrogen. The resulting Ru/CoO hybrid electrocatalyst exhibits significantly promoted catalytic activity compared with benchmark Ru catalyst, displaying an overpotential of 55 mV to generate a HER current density of 10 mA cm^-2, comparable with the state-of-the-art Pt/C catalyst and the most efficient alkaline HER electrocatalysts. Furthermore, the strong interaction of Ru nanoparticles with oxide support and the in-situ growth of oxide support on conductive substrate guarantee the long-term stability of as-fabricated Ru/CoO hybrid electrocatalyst. This newly designed hybrid catalyst with abundant metal/oxide interfaces may pave a new pathway for exploring efficient and stable HER electrocatalysts.Jia-Xin Guo Dong-Yang Yan Kang-Wen Qiu Chuan Mu Dian Jiao Jing Mao Hui Wang Tao Ling 2019Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,10:3

Human activity during the late Pleistocene in the Lop Nur region, northwest China: Evidence from a buried stone artifact显示文摘The Lop Nur region, in the east part of Tarim Basin, was an important transportation junction between west and east, north and south Eurasia. However, previous studies on prehistoric human activity have concentrated mostly on the Bronze Age,whereas that during the Stone Age remains largely unresearched. Here, we present a new direct evidence of human activity in the late Pleistocene, recorded on a grinding stone buried in a lacustrine sediment section of the Lop Nur region. The grain size distribution of the sediment section indicates that the site was probably in the center of a lake with weak hydrodynamic environment. Therefore, the stone artifact can only be carried to here by people instead of river and it was never move as soon as left here. Results of radiocarbon dating, the evident stratigraphic relations between the stone artifact and the sedimentary formation, indicate that the human activity could extend to approximately 13 ka BP. Furthermore, the results of starch-grain and use-wear analyses suggest that ancient humans gathered seeds of Triticeae, roots, and tubers and used the grinding stone to simply process selected plant as plant foodstuffs during this period. It implies that the environmental conditions in the river delta of the Lop Nur were inhabitable during the late Pleistocene.Kangkang LI Xiaoguang QIN Xiaoyan YANG Bing XU Lei ZHANG Guijin MU Dong WEI Chunxue WANG Yong WU Xiaohong TIAN Yongchong LIN Wen LI Jiaqi LIU Yinxin JIAO 2018Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,11:1
Lowering the Error Floor of ADMM Penalized Decoder for LDPC Codes显示文摘Decoding by alternating direction method of multipliers(ADMM) is a promising linear programming decoder for low-density parity-check(LDPC) codes. In this paper, we propose a two-step scheme to lower the error floor of LDPC codes with ADMM penalized decoder. For the undetected errors that cannot be avoided at the decoder side, we modify the code structure slightly to eliminate low-weight code words. For the detected errors induced by small error-prone structures, we propose a post-processing method for the ADMM penalized decoder. Simulation results show that the error floor can be reduced significantly over three illustrated LDPC codes by the proposed two-step scheme.Jiao Xiaopeng Mu Jianjun 2016China Communications2016,13,8:1

Regional characteristics of sea ice thickness in Canadian shelf and Arctic Archipelago measured by Ground Penetrating Radar显示文摘Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) measurements of sea ice thickness including undeformed ice and ridged ice were carried out in the central north Canadian Archipelago in spring 2010. Results have shown a significant spatial heterogeneity of sea ice thickness across the shelf. The undeformed multi-year fast ice of(2.05±0.09) m thick was investigated southern inshore zone of Borden island located at middle of the observational section, which was the observed maximum thickness in the field work. The less thick sea ice was sampled across a flaw lead with the thicknesses of(1.05±0.11) m for the pack ice and(1.24±0.13) m for the fast ice. At the northernmost spot of the section, the undeformed multi-year pack ice was(1.54±0.22) m thick with a ridged ice of 2.5 to 3 m,comparing to the multi-year fast ice with the thickness of(1.67±0.16) m at the southernmost station in the Prince Gustaf Adolf Sea.LI Tao ZHAO Jinping JIAO Yutian HOU Jiaqiang MU Longjiang 2015Acta Oceanologica Sinica2015,34,5:1

Understanding the roles of carbon in carbon/g-C_(3)N_(4)based photocatalysts for H2 evolution显示文摘Coupling graphitic carbon nitride(CN)with carbonaceous materials is an effective strategy to improve photocatalytic performance, but the contributions of carbonaceous materials are not fully understood.Herein,a new type of carbon/CN(CCN)complex photocatalyst is synthesized with a 6-fold enhancement of H2 evolution rate compared to that of pristine CN.The role of carbon in photocatalytic H2 evolution reaction is systemically studied and it is experimentally and theoretically revealed that carbon mainly contributes to the improved capability of exciton dissociation and enhanced electric conductivity for charge transfer, leading to an increased population of photo-carriers for photocatalytic reactions.Interestingly, the enhanced light absorption originated from carbon barely generates charge carriers for H2 evolution activity. These new findings will inspire the rational design of carbon-based photocatalysts for efficient solar fuel production.Mu Xiao Yalong Jiao Bin Luo Songcan Wang Peng Chen Miaoqiang Lyu Aijun Du Lianzhou Wang 2023Nano Research2023,16,4:0
Modeling the neuro-protection of theaflavic acid from black tea and its synergy with nimodipine via mitochondria apoptotic pathway显示文摘Ischemic stroke presents a leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide.Theaflavic acid(TFA)is a theaflavin isolated from black tea that exerts a potentially neuro-protective effect. However, the dynamic properties of TFA-mediated protection remain largely unknown. In the current study,we evaluated the function of TFA in the mitochondria apoptotic pathway using mathematical modeling. We found that TFA-enhanced B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl-2)overexpression can theoretically give rise to bistability. The bistability is highly robust against parametric stochasticity while also conferring considerable variability in survival threshold.Stochastic simulations faithfully match the TFA dose response pattern seen in experimental studies. In addition,we identified a dose-and time-dependent synergy between TFA and nimodipine,a clinically used neuro-protective drug. This synergistic effect was enhanced by bistability independent of temporal factors.Precise application of pulsed doses of TFA can also promote survival compared with sustained TFA treatment. These data collectively demonstrate that TFA treatment can give rise to bistability and that synergy between TFA and nimodipine may offer a promising strategy for developing therapeutic neuro-protection against ischemic stroke.Dan MU Huaguang QIN Mengjie JIAO Shaogui HUA Tingzhe SUN 2021Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,2:0
Feeding Effect of Growing-Finishing Pigs under Fine Division of Feeding Stages显示文摘In order to study the feeding effect of fine division of feeding stages on the growing-finishing pigs,96 healthy Duroc × Landrace ×Yorkshire hybrid commercial pigs with similar age in days, size, and body weight about 15 kg,half boars and half sows, randomly divided into3 treatments( each treatment repeated 4 times, and each repetition 8 pigs). According to the body weight division standard, three stages, four stages, and five stages of feeding were adopted separately.
