| 1 | Hepatic macrophages in liver homeostasis and diseasesdiversity,plasticity and therapeutic opportunities显示文摘Macrophages,which are key cellular components of the liver,have emerged as essential players in the maintenance of hepatic homeostasis and in injury and repair processes in acute and chronic liver diseases.Upon liver injury,resident Kupffer cells(KCs)sense disturbances in homeostasis,interact with hepatic cell populations and release chemokines to recruit circulating leukocytes,including monocytes,which subsequently differentiate into monocyte-derived macrophages(MoMφs)in the liver.Both KCs and MoMφs contribute to both the progression and resolution of tissue inflammation and injury in various liver diseases.The diversity of hepatic macrophage subsets and their plasticity explain their different functional responses in distinct liver diseases.In this review,we highlight novel findings regarding the origins and functions of hepatic macrophages and discuss the potential of targeting macrophages as a therapeutic strategy for liver disease. | Yankai Wen Joeri Lambrecht Cynthia Ju Frank Tacke | 2021 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,1: | 21 |

| 3 | Phosphorus Use Efficiency of Bio-Based Fertilizers:Bioavailability and Fractionation显示文摘Although to date some technologies producing bio-based phosphorus(P) fertilizers have been proposed and implemented, the efficient use of the recovered products is still limited due to legislative constraints and lack of insights in the P release with time and in the corresponding mechanisms. The aim of this work was to evaluate the fertilizer performance in terms of P release and use efficiency of recovered struvite, FePO_4-sludge, digestate, and animal manure as compared to fossil reserve-based mineral triple superphosphate(TSP). First, product physicochemical characteristics and P fractions in the context of European fertilizer legislation were assessed. Next, a controlled greenhouse experiment was set up to evaluate plant reactions as well as changes of P availability in a sandy soil with high P status and a Rheinsand soil with low P status. Soil P fractions were determined in the extracts with water, ammonium lactate and CaCl_2, and in soil solution sampled with Rhizon soil moisture samplers. Based on all results, it is worth conducting long-term field trials to evaluate the P release effect of struvite and digestate as compared to animal manure and TSP on different soil types with varying P status. These products showed promise as sustainable substitutes for conventional P fertilizers and could contribute to a more efficient use of P in agriculture. A refined classification of P application standards/recommendations in terms of soil P status, soil texture, and fertilizer characteristics, next to the crop P demand, is recommended. | 5 | Linking the electron donation capacity to the molecular composition of soil dissolved organic matter from the Three Gorges Reservoir areas,China显示文摘Soil dissolved organic matter(DOM)plays an essential role in the Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR)as a linkage between terrestrial and aquatic systems.In particular,the reducing capacities of soil DOM influence the geochemistry of contaminants such as mercury(Hg).However,few studies have investigated the molecular information of soil DOM and its relationship with relevant geochemic al reactivities,including redox properties.We collected samples from eight sites in the TGR areas and studied the link between the molecular characteristics of DOM and their electron donation capacities(EDCs)toward Hg(II).The average kinetic rate and EDC of soil DOM in TGR areas were(0.004±0.001)hr-1 and(2.88±1.39)nmol e-/mg DOMbulk,respectively.Results suggest that higher EDCs and relatively rapid kinetics were related to the greater electron donating components of ligninderived and perhaps pyrogenic DOM,which are the aromatic constituents that influenced the reducing capacities of DOM in the present study.Molecular details revealed that even the typical autochthonous markers are important for the EDCs of DOM as well,in contrast to what is generally assumed.More studies identifying specific DOM molecular components involved in the abiotic reduction of Hg(II)are required to further understand the relations between DOM sources and their redox roles in the environmental fate of contaminants. | Tao Jiang Joeri Kaal Jiang Liu Jian Liang Yaoling Zhang Dingyong Wang | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,4: | 2 |
