| 1 | Utilization of Swertia chirayita Plant Extracts for Management of Diabetes and Associated Disorders: Present Status, Future Prospects and Limitations显示文摘Diabetes mellitus is referred as common metabolic abnormalities characterized as hyperglycemia,mainly caused due to insufficient production of insulin at cellular level or/and defects in insulin action.Such an endocrine disorder is responsible for serious health problems and its worldwide prevalence is rapidly increasing.Common management of diabetes by oral administration of drugs without creating any side effects is still considered a challenging task and increasing cost of con-ventional medicine in developing countries is another matter of concern.To address these issues,traditional preparations of herbal plant extracts in the form of medicines already gained immense attention.Swertia chirayita is one among such plants which is known for its hypoglycemic potential.Numerous chemical constituents with promising pharmacological properties have been identified from such plant extracts but still,such compounds have not been well characterized,specifically against human application.Hence,more research efforts are necessitated to understand exact mechanism of such compounds and to develop overall safety of such plant formulations.Present review clearly represents antidiabetic properties of Swertia chirayita extract,strategies to be taken to strengthen its safety application on humans and biotechnological interventions that ensure conservation of such endangered species to promote its future application in modern medicine. | Pinaki Dey Joginder Singh Jagadish Kumar Suluvoy Kevin Joseph Dilip Jayato Nayak | 2020 | Natural Products and Bioprospecting2020,10,6: | 2 |

| 6 | Stress Ameliorative Effects of Indole Acetic Acid on Hordeum vulgare L. Seedlings Subjected to Zinc Toxicity显示文摘The heavy metals present in the environment accumulate in the plants and affect their productivity and yield.By entering the food chain,metals cause several serious health problems in human beings as well as in other organisms.Indole acetic acid(IAA)is known to act as a signaling molecule between symbiotic association of metal accumulating plants and plant growth promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR).Present study demonstrated a protective role of IAA against surplus Zinc(Zn)-induced toxicity to Hordeum vulgare seedlings.Elevated Zn concentrations suppressed the plant growth,caused a reduction in leaf relative water contents(RWC)and elevated free proline and non-protein thiols(NPT)accumulation.Zinc treatment also led to enhanced lipid peroxidation(MDA contents)as well as the activity of ascorbate peroxidase(APX),showing the involvement of antioxidative defense mechanism to reduce Zn induced toxicity.IAA oxidase activity was also observed to increase due to Zn treatment.IAA pretreatment of H.vulgare caryopsis could partly revert the Zn-induced toxicity in seedlings. | Monika Sood Shanti S.Sharma Joginder Singh Ram Prasad Dhriti Kapoor | 2020 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2020,89,1: | 0 |

| 9 | Convective stability analysis of a micropolar fluid layer by variational method显示文摘This paper studies Rayleigh-B'enard convection of micropolar fluid layer heated from below with realistic boundary conditions.A specific approach for stability analysis of a convective problem based on variational principle is applied to characterize the Rayleigh number for quite general nature of bounding surfaces.The analysis consists of replacing the set of field equations by a variational principle and the expressions for Rayleigh number are then obtained by using trial function satisfying the essential boundary conditions.Further,the values of the Rayleigh number for particular cases of large and small values of the microrotation coefficient have been obtained.The effects of wave number and micropolar parameter on the Rayleigh numbers for onset of stationary instability for each possible combination of the bounding surfaces are discussed and illustrated graphically.The present analysis establishes that the nature of bounding surfaces combination and microrotation have significant effect on the onset of convection. | Joginder S.Dhiman Praveen K.Sharma Gurdeep Singh | 2011 | Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2011,1,4: | 0 |
| 10 | Folate-producing rhizobacteria of Hippophae rhamnoides L.from Indian trans-Himalaya low atmospheric zone显示文摘Hippophae rhamnoides L.is a plant of immense ethnopharmacological importance and is a known source for various valuable biochemicals and nutraceuticals.The production of folate,a vitamin involved in several vital functions,in this plant is rather poorly understood.Herein,we investigate the hypothesis that rhizobial bacteria serve the plant in this essential vitamin’s biosynthesis.Bacterial strains of Bacillus,Azorhizobium,Frankia,Paenibacillus,Brevibacillus and Pseudomonas,were isolated from the rhizosphere of the plant.HPLC and LCMS were used to trace the production of intra and extra-cellular folate by representative rhizospheric bacterial strains in vitro.From the seventeen functionally characterized bacterial strains of the plant’s rhizosphere,thirteen produced significant amounts of folate.Azorhizobium BR5401 produced the maximum amount of folic acid(424μg/mL),and Bacillus GY779 was the only strain capable of producing both intracellular and extra-cellular folic acid.The Open Reading Frame coding for dihydroneopterin aldolase,an enzyme involved in folate biosynthesis,was found in one of the representative isolates.Our experimental findings help us to suggest that the folate synthesized by rhizobial bacteria is transported to the plant,highlighting a significant benefit of coexistence. | POOJA BHADRECHA MADHU BALA VIKAS KAUSHIK NASEEM A.GAUR SIMRANJEET SINGH JOGINDER SINGH MANOJ KUMAR | 2021 | BIOCELL2021,45,2: | 0 |
