| 1 | The 3-D non-axisymmetrical Lamb's problem in transversely isotropic saturated poroelastic media显示文摘Based on Biots theory on fluid-saturated porous media, the displacement functions are adopted to convert the 3-D Biots wave equations in the cylindrical coordinate for transversely isotropic saturated poroelastic media into two棗one 6-order and one 2-order棗uncoupling differential governing equations. Then, the differential equations are solved by the Fourier expanding and Hankel integral transform method. Integral solutions of soil skeleton displacements and pore pressure as well as the total stresses for poroelastic media are obtained. Furthermore, the systematic study on Lambs problems for the transversely isotropic saturated poroelastic media is performed. Integral solutions for surface radial, vertical and circumferential displacements are obtained in both cases of drained surface and undrained surface under the vertical and horizontal harmonic excitation force. In the end of this paper, the numerical examples are presented. The calculation results indicate that the difference between the model of isotropic saturated poroelastic media and that of transversely isotropic saturated poroelastic media is obvious. | HUANG Yi1 & WANG Xiaogang1,2 1. | 2 | Sieving characteristics of cytokine-and peroxide-induced epithelial barrier leak:Inhibition by berberine显示文摘AIM:To study whether the inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)colon which exhibits varying severity and cytokine levels across its mucosa create varying types of transepithelial leak.METHODS:We examined the effects of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interferon-γ(IFN-γ),interleukin-1-β(IL1β)and hydrogen peroxide(H_2O_2)-singly and in combinations-on barrier function of CACO-2 cell layers.Our focus was on the type(not simply the magnitude)of transepithelial leak generated by these agents as measured by transepithelial electrical resistance(TER)and transepithelial flux of ^(14)C-D-mannitol,3H-Lactulose and ^(14)C-Polyethylene glycol as radiolabeled probe molecules.The isoquinoline alkaloid,berberine,was then examined for its ability to reduce specific types of transepithelial leak.RESULTS:Exposure to TNF-α alone(200 ng/mL;48 h)induced a 50% decrease in TER,i.e.,increased leak of Na^+ and Cl--with only a marginal but statistically significant increase in transepithelial leak of ^(14)C-mannitol(Jm).Exposure to TNF-α + IFN-γ(200 ng/mL;48 h)+ IL1β(50 ng/mL;48 h)did not increase the TER change(from TNF-α alone),but there was now a 100% increase in J_m.There however was no increase in transepithelial leak of two larger probe molecules,~3H-lactulose and ^(14)C-polyethylene glycol(PEG).However,exposure to TNF-α + IFN-γ + IL1β followed by a 5 h exposure to2 mmol/L H_2O_2 resulted in a 500% increase in ^(14)C-PEG leak as well as leak to the luminal mitogen,epidermal growth factor.CONCLUSION:This model of graded transepithelial leak is useful in evaluating therapeutic agents reducing IBD morbidity by reducing barrier leak to various luminal substances. | Katherine M DiGuilio Christina M Mercogliano Jillian Born Brendan Ferraro Julie To Brittany Mixson Allison Smith Mary Carmen Valenzano James M Mullin | 2016 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Pathophysiology2016，7，2： | 6 |
| 3 | Spectral anomalies and spectral switches of partially coherent and polychromatic light diffracted at an aperture显示文摘Based on the propagation theory of partially coherent light in the space-frequency domain, the anomalous spectral behavior and spectral switches in the far field of partially coherent and polychromatic light diffracted at an aperture are studied. It is shown that, as compared with spatially fully coherent and polychromatic light whose spectral anomalies are induced only by aperture diffraction, the spectral anomalies and spectral switches of partially coherent and polychromatic light depend on the aperture diffraction, spatial correlation b and bandwidth of the original spectrum. Detailed numerical calculations are made to illustrate the behavior of spectral switches of partially coherent and polychromatic light, and the results for spatially fully coherent and polychromatic light are treated as a special case of b =1 and included in our theory. | Lü Baida1, 3 & PAN Liuzhan1, 2 1. | 4 | Experimental study of composite medium with simultaneously negative permeability and permittivity显示文摘This paper focuses on a composite medium structure that exhibits simultan- eously negative values of effective permeability and permittivity, and our experimental study in an anechoic chamber.
