1Comparison of different disinfection processes in the effective removal of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and genes显示文摘This study compared three different disinfection processes(chlorination, E-beam, and ozone) and the efficacy of three oxidants(H2O2, S2O-8, and peroxymonosulfate(MPS)) in removing antibiotic resistant bacteria(ARB) and antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs) in a synthetic wastewater. More than30 mg/L of chlorine was needed to remove over 90% of ARB and ARG. For the E-beam method, only1 dose(kGy) was needed to remove ARB and ARG, and ozone could reduce ARB and ARG by more than 90% even at 3 mg/L ozone concentration. In the ozone process, CT values(concentration × time)were compared for ozone alone and combined with different catalysts based on the 2-log removal of ARB and ARG. Ozone treatment yielded a value of 31 and 33(mg·min)/L for ARB and ARGs respectively. On the other hand, ozone with persulfate yielded 15.9 and 18.5(mg·min)/L while ozone with monopersulfate yielded a value of 12 and 14.5(mg·min)/L. 9Green Fabrication of Underwater Superoleophobic Biopolymeric Nanofibrous Membranes for Effective Oil-Water Separation显示文摘Currently,most of the materials for oil-water separation membranes are limited to fluorine-based polymers with low surface energy.However,it is not biodegradable and requires large amounts of organic and toxic solvents in the membrane manufacturing process.Therefore,interest in the development of a new eco-friendly oil-water separation membrane that does not cause secondary pollution and exhibits selective wettability characteristics in water or oil is increasing.The biopolymeric nanofibrous membranes inspired by fish skin can provide specific underwater oleophobicity,which is effective for excellent oil-water separation efficiency and prevention of secondary contamination.Fish gelatin,which is highly soluble in water and has a low gelation temperature,can be electrospun in an aqueous solution and has the same polar functional groups as the hydrophilic mucilage of fish skin.In addition,the micro/nanostructure of fish skin,which induces superoleophobicity in water,introduces a bead-on-string structure using the Rayleigh instability of electrospinning.The solubility of fish gelatin in water was removed using an eco-friendly crosslinking method using reducing sugars.Fish skin-mimicking materials successfully separated suspended oil and emulsified oil,with a maximum flux of 2086 Lm^(−2) h^(−1) and a separation efficiency of more than 99%.The proposed biopolymeric nanofibrous membranes use fish gelatin,which can be extracted from fish waste and has excellent biodegradability with excellent oil-water separation performance.In addition,polymer material processing,including membrane manufacturing and crosslinking,can be realized through eco-friendly processes.Therefore,fish skin-inspired biopolymeric membrane is expected to be a promising candidate for a sustainable and effective oil-water separation membrane in the future.Subin Oh Junsik Bang Hyoung‑Joon Jin Hyo Won Kwak 2023Advanced Fiber Materials2023,5,2:0
10The regulatory subunits of PI3K, p85α and p85β, differentially affect BRD7-mediated regulation of insulin signaling显示文摘Bromodomain-containing protein 7 (BRD7) has been shown to interact with the regulatory subunit of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K), p85, in the insulin signaling pathway. Here, we show that upregulation of hepatic BRD7 improves glucose homeostasiseven in the absence of either p85 isoform, p85a or p85b. However, BRD7 leads to differential activation of downstream effectorproteins in the insulin signaling pathway depending on which isoform of p85 is present. In the presence of only p85a, BRD7 overexpression increases phosphorylation of insulin receptor (IR) upon insulin stimulation, without increasing the recruitment of p85to IR substrate. Overexpression of BRD7 also increases activation of Akt in response to insulin, but does not affect basal phosphorylation levels of Akt. Meanwhile, the phosphorylation of glycogen synthase kinase 3b (GSK3b) is increased by overexpression ofBRD7. On the other hand, in the presence of only p85b, BRD7 overexpression does not affect phosphorylation levels of IR, and Aktphosphorylation is not affected by insulin stimulation following BRD7 upregulation. However, BRD7 overexpression leads to increased basal phosphorylation levels of Akt and GSK3b.
