1Polymorphism-Dependent Dynamic Ultralong Organic Phosphorescence显示文摘Developing ultralong organic phosphorescence(UOP)materials with smart response to external stimuli is of great interest in photonics applications,whereas the manipulation of molecular stacking on tuning such dynamic UOP is still a formidable challenge.Herein,we have reported two polymorphs with distinct photoactivated dynamic UOP behavior based on a pyridine derivative for the first time.Our experiment revealed that the dynamic UOP behavior including photoactivation and deactivation feature is highly dependent on irradiation intensity and environmental atmosphere.Additionally,given the unique dynamic UOP feature,these phosphors have been successfully applied to phosphorescence-dependent molecular logic gate and timing data storage.This result not only paves a way to design smart functional materials but also expands the scope of the applications on organic phosphorescence materials.Mingxing Gu Huifang Shi Kun Ling Anqi Lv Kaiwei Huang Manjeet Singh He Wang Long Gu Wei Yao Zhongfu An Huili Ma Wei Huang 2020Research2020,,1:5

8Operando monitoring of dendrite formation in lithium metal batteries via ultrasensitive tilted fiber Bragg grating sensors显示文摘Lithium(Li)dendrite growth significantly deteriorates the performance and shortens the operation life of lithium metal batteries.Capturing the intricate dynamics of surface localized and rapid mass transport at the electrolyte–electrode interface of lithium metal is essential for the understanding of the dendrite growth process,and the evaluation of the solutions mitigating the dendrite growth issue.Here we demonstrate an approach based on an ultrasensitive tilted fiber Bragg grating(TFBG)sensor which is inserted close to the electrode surface in a working lithium metal battery,without disturbing its operation.Thanks to the superfine optical resonances of the TFBG,in situ and rapid monitoring of mass transport kinetics and lithium dendrite growth at the nanoscale interface of lithium anodes have been achieved.Reliable correlations between the performance of different natural/artificial solid electrolyte interphases(SEIs)and the time-resolved optical responses have been observed and quantified,enabling us to link the nanoscale ion and SEI behavior with the macroscopic battery performance.This new operando tool will provide additional capabilities for parametrization of the batteries’electrochemistry and help identify the optimal interphases of lithium metal batteries to enhance battery performance and its safety.Xile Han Hai Zhong Kaiwei Li Xiaobin Xue Wen Wu Nan Hu Xihong Lu Jiaqiang Huang Gaozhi Xiao Yaohua Mai Tuan Guo 2024Light(Science & Applications)2024,13,1:0
9Nanostructured Conductive Polypyrrole for Antibacterial Components in Flexible Wearable Devices显示文摘The power generated by flexible wearable devices(FWDs)is normally insufficient to eradicate bacteria,and many conventional antibacterial strategies are also not suitable for flexible and wearable applications because of the strict mechanical and electrical requirements.Here,polypyrrole(PPy),a conductive polymer with a high mass density,is used to form a nanostructured surface on FWDs for antibacterial purposes.The conductive films with PPy nanorods(PNRs)are found to sterilize 98.2±1.6%of Staphylococcus aureus and 99.6±0.2%of Escherichia coli upon mild electrification(1 V).Bacteria killing stems from membrane stress produced by the PNRs and membrane depolarization caused by electrical neutralization.Additionally,the PNR films exhibit excellent biosafety and electrical stability.The results represent pioneering work in fabricating antibacterial components for FWDs by comprehensively taking into consideration the required conductivity,mechanical properties,and biosafety.Yuzheng Wu Dezhi Xiao Pei Liu Qing Liao Qingdong Ruan Chao Huang Liangliang Liu Dan Li Xiaolin Zhang Wei Li Kaiwei Tang Zhengwei Wu Guomin Wang Huaiyu Wang Paul K.Chu 2023Research2023,,4:0

11Elastic organic crystals with ultralong phosphorescence for flexible anti-counterfeiting显示文摘Ultralong organic phosphorescence(UOP)crystals have attracted increased attention due to the distinct photophysical property of a long-lived lifetime.However,organic crystals are generally brittle,leading to a serious problem for their application in flexible technology.Herein,we report three types of elastic organic crystals(EOCs)with ultralong phosphorescence via introducing halogen atoms(Cl,Br,I)intoπ-conjugated phosphorescent molecules.Especially,the crystal containing iodine atoms displayed both excellent elasticity(ε=3.01%)and high phosphorescent efficiency(Φ_(Ph)=19.1%)owing to the strong halogen bonds.Taking advantage of its highly efficient UOP and excellent elasticity,we successfully used a DCz4I crystal for anti-counterfeiting application.These findings may provide guidance for the development of elastic crystals with afterglow and expand the scope of potential applications on flexible materials.Kaiwei Huang Lulu Song Kun Liu Anqi Lv Manjeet Singh Kang Shen Jing Shen Jiamin Wang Hongchen Wang Huifang Shi Huili Ma Mingxing Gu Gengzhi Sun Wei Yao Zhongfu An Wei Huang 2021npj Flexible Electronics2021,5,1:0
