3Clinical outcomes of tricuspid valve repair accompanying left-sided heart disease显示文摘AIM To determine whether the need for additional tricuspid valve repair is an independent risk factor when surgery is required for a left-sided heart disease.METHODS One hundred and eighty patients(68 ± 12 years,79 males) underwent tricuspid annuoplasty.Cox proportionalhazards regression model for multivariate analysis was performed for variables found significant in univariate analyses.RESULTS Tricuspid regurgitation etiology was functional in 154 cases(86%),organic in 16 cases(9%),and mixed in10 cases(6%),respectively.Postoperative mortality at 30 days was 11.7%.Mean follow-up was 51.7 mo with survival at 5 years of 73.5%.Risk factors for mortality were acute endocarditis [hazard ratio(HR) = 9.22(95%CI:2.87-29.62),P < 0.001],ischemic heart disease requiring myocardial revascularization [HR = 2.79(1.26-6.20),P = 0.012],and aortic valve stenosis [HR = 2.6(1.15-5.85),P = 0.021].Significant predictive factors from univariate analyses were double-valve replacement combined with tricuspid annuloplasty [HR = 2.21(1.11-4.39),P = 0.003] and preoperatively impaired ejection fraction [HR = 1.98(1.04-3.92),P = 0.044].However,successful mitral valve repair showed a protective effect [HR = 0.32(0.10-0.98),P = 0.046].Additionally,in instances where tricuspid regurgitation required the need for concomitant tricuspid valve repair,mortality predictor scores such as Euroscore 2 could be shortened to a simple Euroscore-tricuspid comprised of only 7 inputs.The explanation may lie in the fact that significant tricuspid regurgitation following leftsided heart disease represents an independent risk factor encompassing several other factors such as pulmonary arterial hypertension and dyspnea.CONCLUSION Tricuspid annuloplasty should be used more often as a concomitant procedure in the presence of relevant tricuspid regurgitation,although it usually reveals an overly delayed correction of a left-sided heart disease.Kasra Azarnoush Ahmad S Nadeemy Bruno Pereira Massoud A Leesar Céline Lambert Alaa Azhari Vedat Eljezi Nicolas Dauphin Etienne Geoffroy Lionel Camilleri 2017World Journal of Cardiology2017,9,10:4
4Transition from a maternal to external nitrogen source in maize seedlings显示文摘Maximizing NO_3^- uptake during seedling development is important as it has a major influence on plant growth and yield.However,little is known about the processes leading to,and involved in,the initiation of root NO_3^- uptake capacity in developing seedlings.This study examines the physiological processes involved in root NO_3^- uptake and metabolism,to gain an understanding of how the NO_3^- uptake system responds to meet demand as maize seedlings transition from seed N use to external N capture.The concentrations of seedderived free amino acids within root and shoot tissues are initially high,but decrease rapidly until stabilizing eight days after imbibition(DAI).Similarly,shoot N% decreases,but does not stabilize until 12–13 DAI.Following the decrease in free amino acid concentrations,root NO_3^- uptake capacity increases until shoot N%stabilizes.The increase in root NO_3^- uptake capacity corresponds with a rapid rise in transcript levels of putative NO_3^- transporters,Zm NRT2.1 and Zm NRT2.2.The processes underlying the increase in root NO_3^- uptake capacity to meet N demand provide an insight into the processes controlling N uptake.Kasra Sabermanesh Luke R. 5ASSESSMENT OF A CENTRAL DIFFERENCE FINITE VOLUME SCHEME FOR MODELING OF CAVITATING FLOWS USING PRECONDITIONED MULTIPHASE EULER EQUATIONS显示文摘A numerical treatment for the prediction of cavitating flows is presented and assessed.The algorithm uses the preconditioned multiphase Euler equations with appropriate mass transfer terms.A central difference finite volume scheme with suitable dissipation terms to account for density jumps across the cavity interface is shown to yield an effective method for solving the multiphase Euler equations.The Euler equations are utilized herein for the cavitation modeling,because some certain characteristics of cavitating flows can be obtained using the solution of this system of equations with relative low computational effort.In addition,the Euler equations are appropriate for the assessment of the numerical method used,because of the sensitivity of the solution to the numerical instabilities.For this reason,a sensitivity study is conducted to evaluate the effects of various parameters,such as numerical dissipation coefficients and grid size,on the accuracy and performance of the solution.The computations are performed for steady cavitating flows around the NACA 0012 and NACA 66(MOD) hydrofoils and also an axisymmetric hemispherical fore-body under different conditions and the results are compared with the available numerical and experimental data.The solution procedure presented is shown to be accurate and efficient for predicting steady sheet-and super-cavitation for 2D/axisymmetric geometries.HEJRANFAR Kazem FATTAH-HESARY Kasra 2011Journal of Hydrodynamics2011,23,3:2

19Optimization of electrochemically synthesized Cu3(BTC)2 by Taguchi method for CO2/N2 separation and data validation through artificial neural network modeling显示文摘Cu(BTC),a common type of metal organic framework(MOF),was synthesized through electrochemical route for CO capture and its separation from N.Taguchi method was employed for optimization of key parameters affecting the synthesis of Cu(BTC).The results indicated that the optimum synthesis conditions with the highest CO selectivity can be obtained using 1 g of ligand,applied voltage of 25 V,synthesis time of 2 h,and electrode length of 3 cm.The single gas sorption capacity of the synthetized microstructure Cu(BTC)for CO(at 298 K and 1 bar)was a considerable value of 4.40 mmol·g.The isosteric heat of adsorption of both gases was calculated by inserting temperature-dependent form of Langmuir isotherm model in the Clausius-Clapeyron equation.The adsorption of CO/N binary mixture with a concentration ratio of 15/85 vol-%was also studied experimentally and the result was in a good agreement with the predicted value of IAST method.Moreover,Cu(BTC)showed no considerable loss in CO adsorption after six sequential cycles.In addition,artificial neural networks(ANNs)were also applied to predict the separation behavior of CO/N mixture by MOFs and the results revealed that ANNs could serve as an appropriate tool to predict the adsorptive selectivity of the binary gas mixture in the absence of experimental data.Kasra Pirzadeh Ali Asghar Ghoreyshi Mostafa Rahimnejad Maedeh Mohammadi 2020Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2020,14,2:1
