12Histogram Matched Chest X-Rays Based Tuberculosis Detection Using CNN显示文摘Tuberculosis(TB)is a severe infection that mostly affects the lungs and kills millions of people’s lives every year.Tuberculosis can be diagnosed using chest X-rays(CXR)and data-driven deep learning(DL)approaches.Because of its better automated feature extraction capability,convolutional neural net-works(CNNs)trained on natural images are particularly effective in image cate-gorization.A combination of 3001 normal and 3001 TB CXR images was gathered for this study from different accessible public datasets.Ten different deep CNNs(Resnet50,Resnet101,Resnet152,InceptionV3,VGG16,VGG19,DenseNet121,DenseNet169,DenseNet201,MobileNet)are trained and tested for identifying TB and normal cases.This study presents a deep CNN approach based on histogram matched CXR images that does not require object segmenta-tion of interest,and this coupled methodology of histogram matching with the CXRs improves the accuracy and detection performance of CNN models for TB detection.Furthermore,this research contains two separate experiments that used CXR images with and without histogram matching to classify TB and non-TB CXRs using deep CNNs.It was able to accurately detect TB from CXR images using pre-processing,data augmentation,and deep CNN models.Without histogram matching the best accuracy,sensitivity,specificity,precision and F1-score in the detection of TB using CXR images among ten models are 99.25%,99.48%,99.52%,99.48%and 99.22%respectively.With histogram matching the best accuracy,sensitivity,specificity,precision and F1-score are 99.58%,99.82%,99.67%,99.65%and 99.56%respectively.The proposed meth-odology,which has cutting-edge performance,will be useful in computer-assisted TB diagnosis and aids in minimizing irregularities in TB detection in developing countries.Joe Louis Paul Ignatius Sasirekha Selvakumar Kavin Gabriel Joe Louis Paul Aadhithya B.Kailash S.Keertivaas S.A.J.Akarvin Raja Prajan 2023Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023,44,1:0
13INPHOVIS:Interactive visual analytics for smartphone-based digital phenotyping显示文摘Digital phenotyping is the characterization of human behavior patterns based on data from digital devices such as smartphones in order to gain insights into the users’state and especially to identify ailments.To support supervised machine learning,digital phenotyping requires gathering data from study participants’smartphones as they live their lives.Periodically,participants are then asked to provide ground truth labels about their health status.Analyzing such complex data is challenging due to limited contextual information and imperfect health/wellness labels.We propose INteractive PHOne-o-typing VISualization(INPHOVIS),an interactive visual framework for exploratory analysis of smartphone health data to study phone-o-types.Prior visualization work has focused on mobile health data with clear semantics such as steps or heart rate data collected using dedicated health devices and wearables such as smartwatches.However,unlike smartphones which are owned by over 85 percent of the US population,wearable devices are less prevalent thus reducing the number of people from whom such data can be collected.In contrast,the‘‘low-level'sensor data(e.g.,accelerometer or GPS data)supported by INPHOVIS can be easily collected using smartphones.Data visualizations are designed to provide the essential contextualization of such data and thus help analysts discover complex relationships between observed sensor values and health-predictive phone-o-types.To guide the design of INPHOVIS,we performed a hierarchical task analysis of phone-o-typing requirements with health domain experts.We then designed and implemented multiple innovative visualizations integral to INPHOVIS including stacked bar charts to show diurnal behavioral patterns,calendar views to visualize day-level data along with bar charts,and correlation views to visualize important wellness predictive data.We demonstrate the usefulness of INPHOVIS with walk-throughs of use cases.We also evaluated INPHOVIS with expert feedback and received encouraging responses.Hamid Mansoor Walter Gerych Abdulaziz Alajaji Luke Buquicchio Kavin Chandrasekaran Emmanuel Agu Elke Rundensteiner Angela Incollingo Rodriguez 2023Visual Informatics2023,7,2:0

16A Novel Eccentric Intrusion Detection Model Based on Recurrent Neural Networks with Leveraging LSTM显示文摘The extensive utilization of the Internet in everyday life can be attributed to the substantial accessibility of online services and the growing significance of the data transmitted via the Internet.Regrettably,this development has expanded the potential targets that hackers might exploit.Without adequate safeguards,data transmitted on the internet is significantly more susceptible to unauthorized access,theft,or alteration.The identification of unauthorised access attempts is a critical component of cybersecurity as it aids in the detection and prevention of malicious attacks.This research paper introduces a novel intrusion detection framework that utilizes Recurrent Neural Networks(RNN)integrated with Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)units.The proposed model can identify various types of cyberattacks,including conventional and distinctive forms.Recurrent networks,a specific kind of feedforward neural networks,possess an intrinsic memory component.Recurrent Neural Networks(RNNs)incorporating Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)mechanisms have demonstrated greater capabilities in retaining and utilizing data dependencies over extended periods.Metrics such as data types,training duration,accuracy,number of false positives,and number of false negatives are among the parameters employed to assess the effectiveness of these models in identifying both common and unusual cyberattacks.RNNs are utilised in conjunction with LSTM to support human analysts in identifying possible intrusion events,hence enhancing their decision-making capabilities.A potential solution to address the limitations of Shallow learning is the introduction of the Eccentric Intrusion Detection Model.This model utilises Recurrent Neural Networks,specifically exploiting LSTM techniques.The proposed model achieves detection accuracy(99.5%),generalisation(99%),and false-positive rate(0.72%),the parameters findings reveal that it is superior to state-of-the-art techniques.Navaneetha Krishnan Muthunambu Senthil Prabakaran Balasubramanian Prabhu Kavin Kishore Senthil Siruvangur Kavitha Chinnadurai Jehad Ali 2024Computers, Materials & Continua2024,78,3:0
17Repeated praziquantel treatment and Opisthorchis viverrini infection:a population-based cross-sectional study in northeast Thailand显示文摘Background:Opisthorchis viverrini infection is highly prevalent in northeast Thailand.This liver fluke is classified as a carcinogen due to its causal links with cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)development.Although treatment with praziquantel(PZQ)effectively cures O.viverrini infection,the prevalence remains high due to the traditional consumption of raw fish.Therefore,re-infection is common in the endemic community,leading to severe hepatobiliary morbidities including the fatal CCA.In this study,we evaluate the association between the frequency of previous PZQ treatment and current O.viverrini infections among Thai adults living in the endemic area of northeast Thailand.Methods:This study includes all participants who were screened for O.viverrini infection in the Cholangiocarcinoma Screening and Care Program(CASCAP),northeast Thailand.History of PZQ treatment was recorded using a health questionnaire.O.viverrini infections were diagnosed using urine antigen detection.Associations between PZQ and O.viverrini were determined by adjusted odds ratio(aOR)and 95%confidence interval(CI)using multiple logistic regression.Results:Among participants,27.7%had previously been treated once with PZQ,8.2%twice,2.8%three times,and 3.5%more than three times.Current O.viverrini prevalence was 17%(n=524).Compared with participants who never used PZQ,the aOR for infection among those who used the drug once was 1.09(95%CI:0.88-1.37),twice was 1.19(95%CI:0.85-1.68),three times was 1.28(95%C/:0.74-2.21),and more than three times was 1.86(95%C/:1.18-2.93;P=0.007).Conclusions:The population with a frequent history of PZQ use and still continued raw fish consumption showed high levels of repeated reinfection with O.viverrini.They were infected,treated and re-infected repeatedly.These findings suggest that certain participants continue raw fish consumption even after previous infection.This is a particular problem in highly endemic areas for O.viverrni and increases the risk of CCA.Kavin Thinkhamrop Narong Khuntikeo Paiboon Sithithaworn Wilaiphorn Thinkhamrop Kinley Wangdi Matthew J.Kelly Apiporn T.Suwannatrai Darren J.Gray 2019Infectious Diseases of Poverty2019,8,2:0

19ARGUS: Interactive visual analysis of disruptions in smartphone-detected Bio-Behavioral Rhythms显示文摘Human Bio-Behavioral Rhythms(HBRs)such as sleep-wake cycles(Circadian Rhythms),and the degree of regularity of sleep and physical activity have important health ramifications.Ubiquitous devices such as smartphones can sense HBRs by continuously analyzing data gathered passively by built-in sensors to discover important clues about the degree of regularity and disruptions in behavioral patterns.As human behavior is complex and smartphone data is voluminous with many channels(sensor types),it can be challenging to make meaningful observations,detect unhealthy HBR deviations and most importantly pin-point the causes of disruptions.Prior work has largely utilized computational methods such as machine and deep learning approaches,which while accurate,are often not explainable and present few actionable insights on HBR patterns or causes.To assist analysts in the discovery and understanding of HBR patterns,disruptions and causes,we propose ARGUS,an interactive visual analytics framework.As a foundation of ARGUS,we design an intuitive Rhythm Deviation Score(RDS)that analyzes users’smartphone sensor data,extracts underlying twenty-four-hour rhythms and quantifies their degree of irregularity.This score is then visualized using a glyph that makes it easy to recognize disruptions in the regularity of HBRs.ARGUS also facilitates deeper HBR insights and understanding of causes by linking multiple visualization panes that are overlaid with objective sensor information such as geo-locations and phone state(screen locked,charging),and user-provided or smartphone-inferred ground truth information.This array of visualization overlays in ARGUS enables analysts to gain a more comprehensive picture of HBRs,behavioral patterns and deviations from regularity.The design of ARGUS was guided by a goal and task analysis study involving an expert versed in HBR and smartphone sensing.To demonstrate its utility and generalizability,two different datasets were explored using ARGUS and our use cases and designs were strongly validated in evaluation sessions with expert and non-expert users.Hamid Mansoor Walter Gerych Abdulaziz Alajaji Luke Buquicchio Kavin Chandrasekaran Emmanuel Agu Elke Rundensteiner 2021Visual Informatics2021,5,3:0
