| 13 | Synergistic interaction of metal–acid sites for phenol hydrodeoxygenation over bifunctional Ag/TiO_2 nanocatalyst显示文摘The use of silver metal for hydrodeoxygenation(HDO) applications is scarce and different studies have indicated of its varying HDO activity. Several computational studies have reported of silver having almost zero turnover frequency for HDO owing to its high C\\O bond breaking energy barrier and low carbon and oxygen binding energies.Herein this work, titania supported silver catalysts were synthesized and firstly used to examine its phenol HDO activity via experimental reaction runs. BET, XRD, FESEM, TEM, EDX, ICP–OES, Pyridine-FTIR, NH_3-TPD and H_2-TPD analyses were done to investigate its physicochemical properties. Phenomena of hydrogen spillover and metal–acid site synergy were examined in this study. With the aid of TiO_2 reducible support, hydrogen spillover and metal–acid site interactions were observed to a certain extent but were not as superior as other Pt, Pd, Ni-based catalysts used in other HDO studies. | 18 | Differences in the prognostic value of tumor extent of resection among the molecular subgroups of medulloblastoma: A single centre study of 113 cases显示文摘Medulloblastoma(MB) is one of the most common pediatrics malignant tumors of the central nervous system. Studies in America and Europe have demonstrated significant differences in the prognostic value of medulloblastoma extent among molecular subgroups of medulloblastoma. However, studies focusing on the Chinese population are still lacking. A total of 113 patients with medulloblastoma who underwent surgical resection in Huashan Hospital between January 2002 and December 2013 were included in this study. Histological diagnoses were confirmed by 2 or more pathologists. Immunohistochemistry and CTNNB1 exon 3 mutation analysis were used to determine the different subgroups. Complete or incomplete resection was defined based on surgeons' reports and confirmed by postoperative computer tomography(CT). In this study, we included 113 patients with medulloblastoma(13 with WNT subgroup, 18 with SHH subgroup, and 82 with non-SHH/WNT subgroups) to assess their event-free and overall survival. We identified event-free survival and overall survival benefit for complete resection over incomplete resection. We found that for patients with NON-SHH/WNT medulloblastoma, incomplete resection was significantly associated with progression and overall survival compared with complete resection. To our best knowledge, the present study is the first to demonstrate the prognostic value of tumor extent of resection among the molecular subgroups of 113 medulloblastoma in the Chinese population.The prognostic benefit of the increased extent of resection for patients with medulloblastoma is attenuated after the molecular subgroups are taken into account. | 19 | Nature’s fight against plastic pollution:Algae for plastic biodegradation and bioplastics production显示文摘The increased global demand for plastic materials has led to severe plastic waste pollution,particularly to the marine environment.This critical issue affects both sea life and human beings since microplastics can enter the food chain and cause several health impacts.Plastic recycling,chemical treatments,incineration and landfill are apparently not the optimum solutions for reducing plastic pollution.Hence,this review presents two newly identified environmentally friendly approaches,plastic biodegradation and bioplastic production using algae,to solve the increased global plastic waste.Algae,particularly microalgae,can degrade the plastic materials through the toxins systems or enzymes synthesized by microalgae itself while using the plastic polymers as carbon sources.Utilizing algae for plastic biodegradation has been critically reviewed in this paper to demonstrate the mechanism and how microplastics affect the algae.On the other hand,algae-derived bioplastics have identical properties and characteristics as petroleum-based plastics,while remarkably being biodegradable in nature.This review provides new insights into different methods of producing algae-based bioplastics(e.g.,blending with other materials and genetic engineering),followed by the discussion on the challenges and further research direction to increase their commercial feasibility. | Wen Yi Chia Doris Ying Ying Tang Kuan Shiong Khoo Andrew Ng Kay Lup Kit Wayne Chew | 2020 | Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2020,,4: | 0 |
