1High prevalence of multidrug-resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii and dissemination of carbapenemase-encoding genes bla_(OXA-23-like),bla_(OXA-24-like)and bla_(NDM-1) in Algiers hospitals显示文摘Objective:To assess and characterize antibiotic resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii strains recovered from 5 health-care facilities in Algiers.Methods:Antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed by agar diffusion and agar dilution methods,resistance genes were identified by PCR and sequencing,and molecular typing of isolates was carried out by enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus-PCR(ERIC-PCR).Results:Among 125 tested isolates,117(93.6% ) were multidrug-resistant.of which 94(75.2% ) were imipenem resistant.The bla_(ADC)and bla_(OXA-51-like) genes were detected in all isolates,in association with ISAba I sequence in 84% and 8% (imipenem resistant) of isolates,respectively.The bla_(OXA-23-like) and bla_(OXA-24-like)carbapenemase genes were delected in 67.02% and 20.21% of imipenem-resistant isolates,respectively.The bla_(OXA-23-like) gene is linked to ISAba1 or ISAba4 elements.The metallo-β-lactamase NDM-1 gene was found in 10(10.6% ) imipenem-resisianl strains from three hospitals,it is linked to ISAba125 clement in nine strains.Extended spectrum β-lactamases production was not detected.Imipenem and cefotaxime resistance phenolypes could not be transferred to Escherichia coli by conjugation.Outer membrane protein CarO gene was not delected in four imipenem-resisianl isolates.The aac(6')-1b.sul1,sul2,tetA and tetB genes were present in 5.31% .36.17% .77.65% .1.06% and 65.92% of strains,respectively.Class 1 integrons were detected in 23.4% strains.KRIC-PCR typing showed a genetic diversity among bla_(OXA-23-like) and bla_(OXA-24-like) positive strains,while clonality was observed among bla_(NDM-1)positives.Conclusions:This study highlighted the high prevalence of imipenem resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii in Algiers hospitals mediated mainly by bla_(OXA-23-like),bla_(OXA-24-like),and bla_(NDM-1) genes.Khadidja Khorsi Yamina Messai Moufida Hamidi Houria Ammari Rabah Bakour 2015Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2015,8,6:20

6The effects of step inclination and air injection on the water flow in a stepped spillway:A numerical study显示文摘In this work, we perform a numerical study of a water flow over a stepped spillway. This flow is described by the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equation(RANS) associated with the turbulence k-ε model. These equations are solved using a commercial software based on the finite volume scheme and an unstructured mesh. The air-water flow was modeled using volume of fluid(VOF) and multiphasic methods. The characteristics of the flow were investigated including the total pressure, the velocity profile, etc.. We analyze the effects on the flow structure of the steps and countermarch inclination, the air injection through the countermarch into the water flow and the dynamics water discharges. 11Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Diffusion Flames of a Biogas Enriched with Hydrogen显示文摘Any biogas produced by the anaerobic fermentation of organic materials has the advantage of being an environmentally friendly biofuel.Nevertheless,the relatively low calorific value of such gases makes their effective utilization in practical applications relatively difficult.The present study considers the addition of hydrogen as a potential solution to mitigate this issue.In particular,the properties of turbulent diffusion jet flames and the related pollutant emissions are investigated numerically for different operating pressures.The related numerical simulations are conducted by solving the RANS equations in the frame of the Reynolds Stress Model in combination with the flamelet approach.Radiation effects are also taken into account and the combustion kinetics are described via the GRI-Mech 3.0 reaction model.The considered hydrogen fuel enrichment spans the range from 0%to 50%in terms of volume.Pressure varies between 1 and 10 atm.The results show that both hydrogen addition and pressure increase lead to an improvement in terms of mixing quality and have a significant effect on flame temperature and height.They also reduce CO_(2) emissions but increase NOx production.Prompt NO is shown to be the predominant NO formation mechanism.Naima Krarraz Amina Sabeur Khadidja Safer Ahmed Ouadha 2024Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2024,20,1:0

13A comparative study of a direct and pulse electrodeposition method of TiO_(2)films and its effect on photoelectrocatalytic degradation of methyl orange dye显示文摘The present study reports the titanium dioxide(TiO_(2))films synthesized from TiCl3 precursor on ITO glass substrates using two electrochemical techniques,namely direct electro-deposition(DE)and pulse electro-deposition(PE).The synthesis potential during the time-on(Ton)period was fixed at-1.5 V.However,the open-circuit potential was applied during the time-off(Toff)period.The effect of the technique of electro-deposition and Toff duration on the properties of TiO_(2)films and their photoelectron-catalytic activity were investigated.The obtained films were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),UV-VIS spectrometer,and photocurrent measurement respectively.It is found that the use of the PE technique at different Toff improves the properties of TiO_(2)films compared to the DE technique.The XRD patterns show the anatase phase with a marked preferential orientation along the(101)direction for all samples.From the SEM analysis,it is seen a significant change from big multigrain agglomerates at DE to a dense film structure and small multigrain agglomerates at different Toff.As the Toff decreases from 3 s to 1 s,the photocurrent response rises and reaches a high value of about 12 m A/cm^(2).Compared with DE,and under UV light the photocatalytic property of TiO_(2)film synthesis via PE has been improved in the degradation of methyl orange(MO).Finally,the films deposited at low Toff(Toff=1 s)show a faster degradation of MO.Khadidja Hadj Larbi Farid Habelhames Meriem Lakhdari Farid Bennabi Belkacem Nessark Mehdi Adjdir Abdelkader Echchergui Nebatti Bouhalouane Amrani 2021Optoelectronics Letters2021,17,6:0
14Effect of Velocity Ratio,Viscosity Ratio,Contact Angle,and Channel Size Ratio on Droplet Formation显示文摘This study uses a T-junction to examine the effects of different parameters(velocity ratio,viscosity,contact angle,and channel size ratio)on the generation of microdroplets,related rate,and size.More specifically,numerical simulations are exploited to investigate situations with a velocity varying from 0.004 to 1.6 m/s for the continuous phase and from 0.004 to 0.8 m/s for the dispersed phase,viscosity ratios(0.668,1,6.689,10,66.899),contact angle 80°<θ<270°and four different canal size ratios(1,1.5,2 and 4).The results show that canal size influences droplet size and the generation rate.The contact angle has an impact on the form and the quality of generated droplets.Moreover,the relationship between velocity and viscosity ratios,droplet size,and generation rate is non-monotonic.Mohammed Bourega Ibrahim Kromba Khadidja Feah Arbi Sofiane Souimane 2023Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2023,19,10:0
