1Clinical significance of CT-defined minimal ascites in patients with gastric cancer显示文摘AIM: To study the clinical significance of minimal ascites,which was only defined by the CT and whose nature was not determined preoperatively, in the relationship with the peritoneal carcinomatosis.METHODS: The medical records and the dynamic CT films of 118 patients with gastric cancer were reviewed.Factors associated with peritoneal carcinomatosis were analyzed in 40 patients who had CT-defined ascites of which the nature was surgically confirmed.RESULTS: Only 12.5-25% of the CT-defined minimal ascites, whose volume was estimated to be less than 50 mL, were associated with peritoneal carcinomatosis.When the estimated CT-defined ascitic volume was 50 mL or more, peritoneal carcinomatosis was identified in 75-100%. When CT-defined lymph node enlargements were not found beyond the regional gastric area,perigastricinvasions were not suspected, and the size of tumor was less than 3 cm, peritoneal carcinomatosis seemed significantly less accompanied at the univariate analysis. However, except for the minimal volume of CTdefined ascites in comparison with the mild or more,other factors were not confirmed multivariately.CONCLUSION: In the patients with gastric cancer, CTdefined minimal ascites alone is rarely associated with peritoneal carcinomatosis, if it does not accompany other signs suggestive of malignant seeding. 2Keystone design perforator island flap in facial defect reconstruction显示文摘Facial defect coverage is a common subject in the field of reconstructive surgery.There are many methods for facial defect reconstruction,and reconstructive surgeons should choose the most appropriate method on a case-by-case basis to achieve both functional and aesthetic improvement.Among various options for facial reconstruction,the local flap technique is considered the best reconstructive modality to provide good tissue matches of color and texture,which is consistent with the ideal goal of reconstruction(replacement of like-with-like).Keystone design perforator island flap(KDPIF),devised by Behan in 2003,has been applied to various fields of reconstructive surgery in the past decade due to its design simplicity,robust vascular supply,and reproducibility.Several studies have reported KDPIF reconstruction of facial defects,such as large parotid defects,small-to-moderate nasal defects,and eyelid defects.However,KDPIF has been used relatively less in facial defects than in other body regions,such as the trunk and extremities.The purpose of this review is to provide an organized overview of facial KDPIF reconstruction including the classification of KDPIF,modifications,physiology,mechanism of flap movement,consideration of facial relaxed skin tension lines and aesthetics,surgical techniques,clinical applications,and precautions for successful execution of KDPIF reconstruction.Soo Yeon Lim Chi Sun Yoon Hyun Gun Lee Kyu Nam Kim 2020World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,10:5

4Hydrodynamic optimization of a triswach显示文摘A new methodology for hydrodynamic optimization of a Tri SWACH is developed, which considers not only the positions of the side hulls but also the shape of the side hulls. In order to account for the strong near-field interference effects between closely-spaced multihulls, an integrated hydrodynamic computational tool that consists of a potential-flow based simple CFD tool and an Euler/RANS/Navier-Stokes based advanced CFD tool has been further developed and integrated into a practical multiobjective hydrodynamic optimization tool. The other components of this hydrodynamic optimization tool consist of a hull shape representation and modification module and an optimization module. This enhanced multi-objective hydrodynamic optimization tool has been applied to the hydrodynamic design optimization of the Tri SWACH for reduced drag by optimizing the side hulls only. A new methodology is developed to optimize side hull forms so that the Tri SWACH has a minimal drag for a wide speed range and for various side hull positions. Two sets of the side hulls are developed and used for the design of two optimal Tri SWACH models. Model tests are carried out for two optimal Tri SWACH models at Webb Institute for validations. 5Monosialoganglioside 1 may alleviate neurotoxicity induced by propofol combined with remifentanil in neural stem cells显示文摘Monosialoganglioside 1(GM1) is the main ganglioside subtype and has neuroprotective properties in the central nervous system. In this study, we aimed to determine whether GM1 alleviates neurotoxicity induced by moderate and high concentrations of propofol combined with remifentanil in the immature central nervous system. Hippocampal neural stem cells were isolated from newborn Sprague-Dawley rats and treated with remifentanil(5, 10, 20 ng/m L) and propofol(1.0, 2.5, 5.0 μg/m L), and/or GM1(12.5, 25, 50 μg/m L). GM1 reversed combined propofol and remifentanil-induced decreases in the percentage of 5-bromodeoxyuridine(+) cells and also reversed the increase in apoptotic cell percentage during neural stem cell proliferation and differentiation. However, GM1 with combined propofol and remifentanil did not affect β-tubulin(+) or glial fibrillary acidic protein(+) cell percentage during neural stem cell differentiation. 8Investigation of cell mechanics using single-beam acoustic tweezers as a versatile tool for the diagnosis and treatment of highly invasive breast cancer cell lines: an in vitro study显示文摘Advancements in diagnostic systems for metastatic cancer over the last few decades have played a significant role in providing patients with effective treatment by evaluating the characteristics of cancer cells.Despite the progress made in cancer prognosis,we still rely on the visual analysis of tissues or cells from histopathologists,where the subjectivity of traditional manual interpretation persists.This paper presents the development of a dual diagnosis and treatment tool using an in vitro acoustic tweezers platform with a 50MHz ultrasonic transducer for label-free trapping and bursting of human breast cancer cells.For cancer cell detection and classification,the mechanical properties of a single cancer cell were quantified by single-beam acoustic tweezers(SBAT),a noncontact assessment tool using a focused acoustic beam.Cell-mimicking phantoms and agarose hydrogel spheres(AHSs)served to standardize the biomechanical characteristics of the cells.Based on the analytical comparison of deformability levels between the cells and the AHSs,the mechanical properties of the cells could be indirectly measured by interpolating the Young’s moduli of the AHSs.As a result,the calculated Young’s moduli,i.e.,1.527kPa for MDA-MB-231(highly invasive breast cancer cells),2.650kPa for MCF-7(weakly invasive breast cancer cells),and 2.772 kPa for SKBR-3(weakly invasive breast cancer cells),indicate that highly invasive cancer cells exhibited a lower Young’s moduli than weakly invasive cells,which indicates a higher deformability of highly invasive cancer cells,leading to a higher metastasis rate.Single-cell treatment may also be carried out by bursting a highly invasive cell with high-intensity,focused ultrasound.Hae Gyun Lim Hsiao-Chuan Liu Chi Woo Yoon Hayong Jung Min Gon Kim Changhan Yoon Hyung Ham Kim KKirk Shung 2020Microsystems & Nanoengineering2020,6,1:3

11Synthesis and characterization of core/shell structured nanophosphors CePO_4:Tb@LaPO_4 by solvothermal method显示文摘Core/shell structured CePO4:Tb(III) @LaPO4 and CePO4:Tb(III) were successfully synthesized in tris(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate(TEHP) and diethylene glycol(DEG) solvents for comparison of the two techniques in open air and closed reaction vessel.Morphology and crystal structure of the core/shell nanophosphors were determined by using X-ray diffraction(XRD) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) ,which showed that nanophosphors had diameter of about 5-10 nm with the monoclinic monazite phase.The nanophosphors obtained by close vessel procedure showed smaller size,more homogeneity and pure crystallite.The luminescent measurements were done upon the different excitation wavelengths in ultraviolet region and at room temperature to elucidate the influences of the used solvents and the reaction temperatures.It was found that CePO4:Tb@LaPO4 prepared by the close vessel synthesis showed the intensity of green band of the transfer from 5D4 to 7F5 energy level,which was strongly increased,and the luminescent decay time was 3.2 ms,which was longer than that of naked CePO4:Tb phosphor.Dinh Xuan Loc Tran Thi Kim Chi Tran Thu Huong Nguyen Vu Tran Kim Anh Wieslaw Strek Le Quoc Minh 2011Journal of Rare Earths2011,29,12:2

17Antibacterial Behaviour of Quaternized Poly(vinyl chloride)-g-Poly(4-vinyl pyridine) Graft Copolymers显示文摘Amphiphilic graft copolymers consisting of poly(vinyl chloride)(PVC) main chains and poly(4-vinyl pyridine)(P4VP) side chains were synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) using direct initiation of chlorine atoms. The successful synthesis of PVC-g-P4 VP graft copolymers was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance(1H-NMR). Transmission electron microscope(TEM) and small angle X-ray scattering(SAXS) analysis showed that PVC-g-P4 VP exhibited microphase-separated, ordered structure with 37.6 nm of domain spacing, which was not observed in neat PVC. For antibacterial applications, the tertiary nitrogen atoms of PVC-gP4 VP was quaternized using 1-bromohexane, as confirmed by FTIR measurements. Bacteria including Escherichia coli(E. coli), Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus), Bacillus cereus(B. cereus), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa(P. aeruginosa) were completely killed in 24 h on the quaternized PVC-g-P4VP(46% grafting) surface, indicating its excellent antibacterial behavior while it showed to be cytotoxic to mammalian cell.Madhumita Patel Rajkumar Patel Won Seok Chi Jong Hak Kim Jung-Suk Sung 2015Chinese Journal of Polymer Science2015,33,2:2
