| 2 | Meta-optics and bound states in the continuum显示文摘We discuss the recent advances in meta-optics and nanophotonics associated with the physics of bound states in the continuum(BICs). Such resonant states appear due to a strong coupling between leaky modes in optical guiding structures being supported by subwavelength high-index dielectric Mieresonant nanoantennas or all-dielectric metasurfaces. First, we review briefly very recent developments in the BIC physics in application to isolated subwavelength particles. We pay a special attention to novel opportunities for nonlinear nanophotonics due to the large field enhancement inside the particle volume creating the resonant states with high-quality(high-Q) factors, the so-called quasi-BIC, that can be supported by the subwavelength particles. Second, we discuss novel applications of the BIC physics to alldielectric optical metasurfaces with broken-symmetry meta-atoms when tuning to the BIC conditions allows to enhance substantially the Q factor of the flat-optics dielectric structures. | 6 | Bound states in the continuum and Fano resonances in the strong mode coupling regime显示文摘The study of resonant dielectric nanostructures with a high refractive index is a new research direction in the nanoscale optics and metamaterial-inspired nanophotonics.Because of the unique optically induced electric and magnetic Mie resonances,high-index nanoscale structures are expected to complement or even replace different plasmonic components in a range of potential applications.We study a strong coupling between modes of a single subwavelength high-index dielectric resonator and analyze the mode transformation and Fano resonances when the resonator’s aspect ratio varies.We demonstrate that strong mode coupling results in resonances with high-quality factors,which are related to the physics of bound states in the continuum when the radiative losses are almost suppressed due to the Friedrich–Wintgen scenario of destructive interference.We explain the physics of these states in terms of multipole decomposition,and show that their appearance is accompanied by a drastic change in the far-field radiation pattern.We reveal a fundamental link between the formation of the high-quality resonances and peculiarities of the Fano parameter in the scattering cross-section spectra.Our theoretical findings are confirmed by microwave experiments for the scattering of high-index cylindrical resonators with a tunable aspect ratio.The proposed mechanism of the strong mode coupling in single subwavelength high-index resonators accompanied by resonances with high-quality factors helps to extend substantially functionalities of all-dielectric nanophotonics,which opens horizons for active and passive nanoscale metadevices. | Andrey A.Bogdanov Kirill LKoshelev Polina VKapitanova Mikhail VRybin Sergey AGladyshev Zarina FSadrieva Kirill BSamusev Yuri SKivshar a Mikhail FLimonov | 2019 | Advanced Photonics2019,1,1: | 6 |

| 9 | Denitrification Rate and Controlling Factors for Accumulated Nitrate in the Deep Subsoil of Intensive Farmlands: A Case Study in the North China Plain显示文摘Denitrification in subsoil(to a depth of 12 m) is an important mechanism to reduce nitrate(NO3^-) leaching into groundwater.However, regulating mechanisms of subsoil denitrification, especially those in the deep subsoil beneath the crop root zone, have not been well documented. In this study, soil columns of 0–12 m depth were collected from intensively farmed fields in the North China Plain. The fields had received long-term nitrogen(N) fertilizer inputs at 0(N0), 200(N200) and 600(N600) kg N ha^-1 year^-1. Main soil properties related to denitrification, i.e., soil water content, NO3^-, dissolved organic carbon(DOC), soil organic carbon(SOC),pH, denitrifying enzyme activity(DEA), and anaerobic denitrification rate(ADR), were determined. Statistical comparisons among the treatments were performed. The results showed that NO3^- was more heavily accumulated in the entire soil profile of the N600 treatment, compared to the N0 and N200 treatments. The SOC, DOC, and ADR decreased with increasing soil depth in all treatments,whereas considerable DEA was observed throughout the subsoil. The long-term fertilizer rates affected ADR only in the upper 4 m soil layers. The ADRs in the N200 and N600 treatments were significantly correlated with DOC. Multiple regression analysis indicated that DOC rather than DEA was the key factor regulating denitrification beneath the root zone. | 14 | Does ethnicity and education influence preoperative disability and expectations in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty?显示文摘AIM To investigate whether minority ethnicity and the duration of education influence preoperative disability and expectations in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty.METHODS We prospectively included 829 patients undergoing primary unilateral total knee arthroplasty(TKA) from April 2013 to December 2014 at a single centre. Patients filled in pre-operative questionnaires with information regarding place of birth, duration of education, expectations for outcome of surgery and baseline characteristics. Patients were stratified based on ethnicity. Majority ethnicity was defined as born inthe study country and minority ethnicity was defined as born in any other country. Similarly, patients were stratified based on duration of education in groups defined as < 9 years, 9-12 years and > 12 years, respectively.RESULTS We found that 92.2% of patients were of majority ethnicity. We found that 24.5%, 44.8% and 30.8% of patients had an education of < 9 years, 9-12 years and > 12 years, respectively. The mean preoperative(preOP) oxford knee score(OKS) in the total population was 23.6. Patients of minority ethnicity had lower mean pre-OP OKS(18.6 vs 23.9, P < 0.001), higher pain levels(VAS 73.0 vs 58.7, P < 0.001), expected higher levels of post-OP pain(VAS 14.1 vs 6.1, P = 0.02) and of overall symptoms(VAS 16.6 vs 6.4, P = 0.006). Patients with > 12 years education had lower mean pre-OP OKS(21.5 vs 23.8 and 24.6, P < 0.001) and higher pre-OP VAS pain(65.4 vs 59.2 and 56.4, P < 0.001) compared to groups with shorter education. One year post-operative(post-OP) patients of minority ethnicity had lower mean OKS, higher pain and lower QoL. One year post-OP patients with > 12 years education reported higher pain compared to patients with shorter educations. However, the response-rate was low(44.6%), and therefore post-OP results were not considered to be significant.CONCLUSION Minority ethnicity and the duration of education influ-ence preoperative disability and expectation in patients undergoing TKA. | 15 | The presence of ANP in rat peritoneal mast cells显示文摘Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is an important component of the natriuretic peptide system. A great role in many regulatory systems is played by mast cells. Meanwhile involvement of these cells in ANP activity is poorly studied. In this work, we have shown the presence of ANP in rat peritoneal mast cells. Pure fraction of mast cells was obtained by separation of rat peritoneal cells on a Percoll density gradient. By Western blotting, two ANP-immunoreactive proteins of molecular masses of 2.5 kDa and 16.9 kDa were detected in lysates from these mast cells. Electron microscope immunogold labeling has revealed the presence of ANP-immunoreactive material in storage, secreting and released granules of mast cells. Our findings indicate the rat peritoneal mast cells to contain both ANP prohormone and ANP. These both peptides are located in mast cell secretory granules and released by mechanism of degranulation. | 17 | Endoscopic treatment of blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome in a 4-year-old girl with long-term follow-up:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome(BRBNS)is a rare vascular disease,difficult to diagnose and choose a treatment method,especially in young children.There are several limiting factors to the use of enteroscopy for diagnostics and treatment in pediatric patients,in general.The literature on BRBNS cases is limited and presents various therapeutic approaches.CASE SUMMARY We present here a case of BRBNS involving a 4-year-old female,whose intestinal venous lesions were successfully treated by endoscopic sclerotherapy and aethoxysklerol foam.Skin lesions,typical for BRBNS,appeared on the 8th d of the child’s life and their number increased over the next several months.The child also experienced episodes of critical decrease in hemoglobin level(by as much as 52 g/L)for several years,requiring iron supplementation and several blood transfusions.Video capsule endoscopy revealed numerous vascular formations in the small bowel.The combined findings of gastrointestinal venous formations and skin lesions prompted BRBNS diagnosis.Single-balloon enteroscopy was used to perform sclerotherapy,with aethoxysklerol foam.A positive effect was observed within 19 mo of follow-up.We continue to monitor the patient’s hemoglobin level,every 2 wk,and it has remained satisfactory(>120 g/L).CONCLUSION Endoscopic sclerotherapy can be effective in the clinical management of gastrointestinal manifestations of BRBNS in young children. | Kirill Marakhouski Elena Sharafanovich Uladzislau Kolbik Aleh Sautin Katsiaryna Nikalayeva Aleh Pataleta Kiryl Sanfirau Aliaksandr Svirsky | 2021 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2021,13,3: | 2 |
| 18 | Assessments of mortality at oldest-old ages by province in China's 2000 and 2010 censuses显示文摘This study examined the possible underestimation and age-trajectories of mortality at oldest-old ages in China’s 2000 and 2010 censuses.By linking logit-transformed conditional probabilities of dying from 13 countries with the highest data quality in the world,this study found that many Chinese provinces had underestimations of mortality at oldest-old ages when a relatively lenient criterion was applied.When a relatively strict criterion was applied,most provinces had a 30%or more underestimation in the probability of dying.We also investigated age trajectories of death rates after age 80 in these two censuses by applying the Kannisto model.Results showed that the age trajectories were distorted in most provinces after age 95.Overall,eastern-coastal provinces had higher data quality—in terms of low underestimation rates and less distorted age trajectories—whereas western China had provinces with problematic data.Females had greater rates of underestimation yet less distorted age-trajectories than males;and the 2010 census had greater rates of underestimation yet less distorted age-trajectories than the 2000 census.We conclude that appropriate adjustments with simultaneous applications of the Kannisto model are needed for direct estimates of mortality at oldest-old ages in the 2000 and 2010 censuses for China and for its provinces. | Danan Gu Runlong Huang Kirill Andreev Matthew E.Dupre Yaer Zhuang Hongyan Liu | 2016 | International Journal of Population Studies2016,2,2: | 2 |
| 19 | Recent advances in laser self-injection locking to high-Q microresonators显示文摘The stabilization and manipulation of laser frequency by means of an external cavity are nearly ubiquitously used in fundamental research and laser applications. While most of the laser light transmits through the cavity, in the presence of some back-scattered light from the cavity to the laser, the self-injection locking effect can take place, which locks the laser emission frequency to the cavity mode of similar frequency. The self-injection locking leads to dramatic reduction of laser linewidth and noise. Using this approach, a common semiconductor laser locked to an ultrahigh-Q microresonator can obtain sub-Hertz linewidth, on par with state-of-the-art fiber lasers. Therefore it paves the way to manufacture high-performance semiconductor lasers with reduced footprint and cost. Moreover, with high laser power, the optical nonlinearity of the microresonator drastically changes the laser dynamics, offering routes for simultaneous pulse and frequency comb generation in the same microresonator. Particularly, integrated photonics technology, enabling components fabricated via semiconductor CMOS process, has brought increasing and extending interest to laser manufacturing using this method. | 20 | Pressure Boundary Conditions for Blood Flows显示文摘Simulations of blood flows in arteries require numerical solutions of fluidstructure interactions involving Navier-Stokes equations coupled with large displacement visco-elasticity for the vessels.Among the various simplifications which have been proposed, the surface pressure model leads to a hierarchy of simpler models including one that involves only the pressure. The model exhibits fundamental frequencies which can be computed and compared with the pulse. Yet unconditionally stable time discretizations can be constructed by combining implicit time schemes with Galerkin-characteristic discretization of the convection terms in the Navier-Stokes equations.
