1Association of genotypes of rs671 within ALDH2 with risk for gastric cardia adenocarcinoma in the Chinese Han population in high-and low-incidence areas显示文摘Objective: This study aimed to determine if gastric cardia adenocarcinoma(GCA) risk was associated with the lys(A or *2) allele at the rs671(glu504lys) polymorphism within the aldehyde dehydrogenase 2(ALDH2) gene in a Chinese Han population. We also aimed to investigate ALDH2 genotypic distributions between subjects from high- and low-incidence areas for both GCA and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).Methods: We designed a case-control study including 2,686 patients with GCA and 3,675 control subjects from high- and lowincidence areas for both GCA and ESCC in China. Taq Man allele discrimination assay was used to genotype the rs671 polymorphism. χ~2 test and binary logistic regression analysis were used to estimate the odds ratios for the development of GCA,and multivariate ordinal logistic regression was used to analyze ALDH2 genotypic distributions among different groups.Results: Compared with ALDH2*1/*1 homozygotes, ALDH2*1/*2 and ALDH2*2/*2 carriers did not increase the risk for GCA in the Chinese Han population(P>0.05). Interestingly, the ratio of homozygous or heterozygous ALDH2 *2 carriers in highincidence areas for both GCA and ESCC was lower than that in low-incidence areas(P<0.001).Conclusions: Genotypes of rs671 at ALDH2 may not increase GCA susceptibility in Chinese Han populations. In addition, the ALDH2 genotypic distribution differs between Chinese Han populations from high- and low-incidence areas for both GCA and ESCC. 2Determination of the Photoperiod-Sensitive Inductive Phase in Maize with Leaf Numbers and Morphologies of Stem Apical Meristem显示文摘It is vital to determine the effective photoperiods of maize for making full use of tropical germplasm,which is the foundation for determining the effect of latitude and planting date on the development of photoperiod-sensitive maize cultivars. The objective of this study is to determine the photoperiod-sensitive inductive phase using reciprocal transfer between long-day(LD)(15 h d-1) and short-day conditions(SD)(9 h d-1). For Huangzao 4 and CML288,days to tassel and pollen shedding were recorded,and stem apical meristems(SAM) were observed by a laser scanning confocal microscope. The results show that the seedlings are insensitive to photoperiod when they are very young(juvenile). However,after this period,LD delays flowering and increases the leaf numbers below the inflorescence,and the length of the interval of the photoperiod-sensitive inductive phase is longer under LD conditions than under SD conditions. Transferred from SD to LD,plants show a sudden decrease in leaf numbers once sufficient SD has been received for flower commitment. While transferred from LD to SD,plants have a continuous increase in leaf numbers during the photoperiod sensitive inductive phase under LD conditions. At the same time,when plants are competent to flowers,the obvious morphology is the elongation of maize SAM. 3Numerical prediction experiment on Typhoon Maggie (9903)显示文摘The movement of Typhoon Maggie (9903) in June 1999 is one of the rare cases ever seen in the history. At 00U on June 6 Maggie was located at about 70 km to the southwest of Taiwan. When it arrived at the coastal region of Shanwei City (22.8N, 116.5E), it turned suddenly to move southwestward along the southern China coastal line. De June 7 Maggie finally turned to move northward, making landfall to the north of Shangchuan Island. The experimental numerical prediction system on typhoon movement that was designed based on MM5 is proved quite successful for the 48h prediction of Maggie’s movement and rainfall. The mean prediction error of typhoon track is 81 km for 0-24 h and 74 km for 24-48 h. The location of typhoon center in the initial field of the model is approximately 100 km away from the actual observations. In order to modify the location of typhoon center, a bogus typhoon was intro- duced into the model and the prediction of typhoon track was improved in 0-24 h time interval. But the prediction error was enlarged in 24-36 h. We also performed a sensitivity experiment of changing the land of southern China into the ocean. 6Identification of PtGai(a DELLA protein)in trifoliate orange and expression patterns in response to drought stress显示文摘Gibberellins(GAs)are an important hormone in regulating plant growth and development,and DELLA protein is an essential negative regulator of GA signal transduction.The aim of the study was to clone a GAinhibiting protein DELLA from trifoliate orange(Poncirus trifoliata L.Raf.)and to analyze the bioinformations and expression patterns of the protein gene in tissues and in response to drought stress.A DELLA protein was isolated from trifoliate orange and named as PtGai(Genebank number:MZ170959).The PtGai protein had 1731 bp open reading frames,along with 576 amino acid codes,and also grouped with sweet orange(XM_006430552.4).The PtGai protein sequence was 65%homology with the sequences of DELLA proteins in other plant families.PtGai protein existed in the nucleus based on the prediction of subcellular localization.PtGai protein could be expressed in roots,stems,and leaves,along with the highest expression in stems.PtGai was upregulated by drought stress in leaves and roots,along with the decrease of root total GA concentration and the inhibition of shoot and root biomass production.It indicated the characteristics of PtGai protein and the roles of PtGai in GA synthesis and plant growth.XIAOFEN CHENG ABEER HASHEM ELSAYED FATHI ABD_ALLAH QIANGSHENG WU KAMIL KUČA 2021BIOCELL2021,45,6:2

17One-step fabrication of mesoporous sulfur-doped carbon nitride for highly selective photocatalytic transformation of native lignin to monophenolic compounds显示文摘Photocatalytic selective transform native lignin into valuable chemicals is an attractive but challenging task.Herein,we report a mesoporous sulfur-doped carbon nitride(MSCN-0.5)which is prepared by a facile one-step thermal condensation strategy.It is highly active and selective for the cleavage Cα-Cβbond inβ-O-4 lignin model compound under visible light radiation at room temperature,achieving 99%substrate conversion and 98%Cα-Cβbond cleavage selectivity.Mechanistic studies revealed that the Cβ-H bond of lignin model compounds activated by holes and generate key Cβradical intermediates,further induced the Cα-Cβbond cleavage by superoxide anion radicals(·O2-)to produce aromatic oxygenates.Waste Camellia oleifera shell(WCOS)was taken as a representative to further understand the reaction mechanisms on native lignin.33.2 mg of monophenolic compounds(Vanillin accounted for 22%and Syringaldehyde for 34%)can be obtained by each gram of WCOS lignin,which is 2.5 times as that of the pristine carbon nitride.The present work offers useful guidance for designing metal-free heterogeneous photocatalysts for Cα-Cβbond cleavage to harvest monophenolic compounds.Conghao Ku Huiqin Guo Kexin Li Qiong Wu Liushui Yan 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,1:1
