1Investigation on microwave heating for direct leaching of chalcopyrite ores and concentrates显示文摘The use of microwave energy in materials processing is a relatively new development presenting numerous advantages because of the rapid heating feature. Microwave technology has great potential to improve the extraction efficiency of metals in terms of both a reduction in required leaching time and an increase in the recovery of valuable metals. This method is especially pertinent in view of the increased demand for environment-friendly processes. In the present study, the influence of microwave heating on the direct leaching of chalcopyrite ores and concentrates were investigated. The results of microwave leaching experiments were compared with those obtained under conventional conditions. During these processes, parameters such as leaching media, temperature, and time have been worked to determine the optimum conditions for proper copper dissolution. Experimental results show that microwave leaching is more efficient than conventional leaching. The optimum leaching conditions for microwave leaching are the solid-to-liquid ratio of 1:100 g/mL, the temperature of 140℃, the solution of 0.5 M H2SO4 + 0.05 M Fe2(SO4)3 , and the time of 1 h.Kubra Onol Muhlis Nezihi Saridede 2013International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2013,20,3:5
2Mutant p53 promotes cell spreading and migration via ARHGAP44显示文摘The tumor suppressor p53 protein is either lost or mutated in about half of all human cancers.Loss of p53 function is well known to influence cell spreading,migration and invasion.While expression of mutant p53 is not equivalent to p53 loss,mutant p53 can acquire new functions to drive cell spreading and migration via different mechanisms.In our study,we found that mutant p53 significantly increased cell spreading and migration when comparing with p53-null cells.RNA-Seq analysis suggested that Rho GTPase activating protein 44(ARHGAP44) is a new target of mutant p53,which suppressed AKHGAP44 transcription.ARHGAP44 has GAP activity and catalyze GTP hydrolysis on Cdc42.Higher level of GTP-Cdc42 was correlated with increase expression of mutant p53 and reduced ARHGAP44.Importantly,wt-ARHGAP44 but not mutant ARHGAP44(R291A) suppressed mutant p53 mediated cell spreading and migration.Bioinformatics analysis indicated lower expression of ARHGAP44 in lung carcinoma compared with normal tissues,which was verified by RT-qPCR using specimens from patients.More interestingly,ARHGAP44 mRNA level was lower in tumors with mutant p53 than those with normal p53.Collectively,our results disclose a new mechanism by which mutant p53 stimulates cell spreading and migration.Jinjin Xu Jian Jiao Wei Xu Lei Ji Dongjie Jiang Shaofang Xie Syeda Kubra Xiaotao Li Junjiang Fu Jianru Xiao Bianhong Zhang 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,9:4
3Dechlorination of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane(DDT)by Fe/Pd bimetallic nanoparticles:Comparison with nZVI?degradation mechanism,and pathways显示文摘In this study,the bimetallic Fe/Pd nanoparticle was synthesized using the catalytic element palladium to increase the effect of nano zero valent iron(nZVI),in the light of the information obtained from our previous study,in which the nZVI synthesis method was modified.Dichlorodiphcnyltrichloroethane(DDT),one of the most widely used persistent organic pollutant pesticides in the world,was investigated in terms of its degradation by Fe/Pd nanoparticles and the difference with nZVI was determined.During the study,the Fe/Pd concentration,initial DDT concentration,and contact time were selected as variables affecting the treatment.The highest possible initial DDT concentration for the treatment with Fe/Pd bimetallic nanoparticle was investigated to obtain the DDT effluent concentration below the carcinogenesis limit,0.23μg/L.The highest concentration that could be treated was found to be 109.95 mg/L with Fe/Pd.It was found that 44.3 min of contact time and 550 mg/L Fe/Pd concentration were needed to achieve this treatment.Kubra Ulucan-Altuntas Eyup Debik 2020Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2020,14,1:3
4Robust molecular detection of the new Tomato brown rugose fruit virus in infected tomato and pepper plants from Turkey显示文摘Tomato brown rugose fruit virus(ToBRFV)causes severe fruit loss in tomato(Solanum lycopersicum)and pepper(Capsicum annuum)plants.It is an emerging Tobamovirus that is spreading globally.The major challenge is to develop a reliable method for the detection of the virus,and to better characterize the symptoms it causes.The aims of this study,therefore,were to characterize the symptom development on tomato and pepper plants,and to establish a reliable detection method for the virus.Following infection of the tomato and pepper plants with ToBRFV,the leaves turned chlorotic,mosaic or mottled,while the fruit became rugose,necrotic and marbled,and showed discoloration with yellow or brown spots.Transmission electron microscopy(TEM)revealed single rod-like virus particles characteristic of the Tobamoviruses.Classical reverse transcription PCR(RT-PCR)and quantitative PCR(qPCR)with specific primers and probes confirmed that the virus is ToBRFV.We found that the resistance genes from tomato,Tm-2^(2),and pepper,L1,L2,L3 and L4,did not confer resistance to ToBRFV.Here,we present a PCR-based method as a diagnostic test for detecting ToBRFV in infected seeds.This method will help to prevent further spread of the virus in commercial seeds.Hakan FIDAN Pelin SARIKAYA Kubra YILDIZ Bengi TOPKAYA Gozde ERKIS Ozer CALIS 2021Journal of Integrative Agriculture2021,20,8:2

10Corneal epithelial defects following vitreoretinal surgery:incidence and outcomes from the DISCOVER study显示文摘AIM:To investigate the incidence,risk factors,clinical course,and outcomes of corneal epithelial defects(CED)following vitreoretinal surgery in a prospective study setting.METHODS:This was a post-hoc analysis of all participants in DISCOVER intraoperative optical coherence tomography study.Subjects with CED 1 d after surgery without intraoperative corneal debridement was defined as the postoperative CED group.Subjects who underwent intraoperative debridement were defined as intraoperative debridement group.Eyes were matched 2:1 with controls(eyes without postoperative CED)for comparative assessment.The primary outcomes were the incidence of CED on postoperative day one and the incidence of required intraoperative debridement.Secondary outcomes included time to defect closure,delayed healing(>2 wk),visual acuity(VA)and presence of scarring at one year and cornea consult.RESULTS:This study included 856 eyes that underwent vitreoretinal surgery.Intraoperative corneal debridement was performed to 61(7.1%)subjects and postoperative CED developed spontaneously in 94(11.0%)subjects.Significant factors associated with postoperative CED included prolonged surgical duration(P=0.003),diabetes mellitus(P=0.04),postoperative ocular hypotension(P<0.001).Prolonged surgical duration was associated with intraoperative debridement.Delayed defect closure time(>2 wk)was associated with corneal scar formation at the end of the 1 y in all epithelial defect subjects(P<0.001).The overall rate of corneal scarring for all eyes undergoing vitrectomy was 1.8%.CONCLUSION:Prolonged duration of surgery is the strongest factor associated with both intraoperative debridement and spontaneous postoperative CED.Delayed defect closure is associated with a greater risk of corneal scarring at one year.The overall rate of corneal scarring following vitrectomy is low at<2%.Kubra Sarici Daniel Petkovsek Alison Martin Alex Yuan Jeffrey M.Goshe Sunil K.Srivastava Jamie L.Reese Justis P.Ehlers 2022International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2022,15,1:1

14Electrocoagulation process for the treatment of metal-plating wastewater:Kinetic modeling and energy consumption显示文摘It is known that wastewater produced by the metal-plating industry contains several heavy metals, which are acidic in nature and therefore toxic for the environment and for living creatures. In particular, heavy metals enter the food chain and accumulate in vital organs and cause serious illness. The precipitation of these metals is mostly achieved by pH adjustment, but as an alternative to this method, the electrocoagulation process has investigated in this study using iron and aluminum electrodes. The effects of the pH adjustment on removal before and after the electrocoagulation process were investigated, and cost analyses were also compared. It was observed that a high proportion of removal was obtained during the first minutes of the electrocoagulation process;thus, the current density did not have a great effect. In addition, the pH adjustment after the electrocoagulation process using iron electrodes, which are 10% more effective than aluminum electrodes, was found to be much more efficient than before the electrocoagulation process. In the process where kinetic modeling was applied, it was observed that the heavy metal removal mechanism was not solely due to the collapse of heavy metals at high pH values, and with this modeling, it was seen that this mechanism involved adsorption by iron and aluminum hydroxides formed during the electrocoagulation process. 19The value of prognostic markers for pediatric trauma patients显示文摘BACKGROUND: Despite the rapid development of pediatric intensive care medicine, there are still limited data in the literature regarding the follow-up of pediatric trauma patients in pediatric intensive care units(PICUs). In this study, we aim to evaluate our experience with children admitted and followed up with the diagnosis of trauma at our PICU.METHODS: We evaluated the retrospective data of 77 pediatric trauma patients who were admitted to the PICU at Sancaktepe Sehit Prof. Dr. IlhanVarank Training and Research Hospital from August 2020 to December 2022. The demographic data, clinical parameters and laboratory results were recorded. The primary outcome was the mortality in PICU. The performances of markers in predicting mortality were evaluated with receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves.RESULTS: The median age of the patients was 70(33–157) months, and the median duration of hospitalization in the PICU was 6(2–11) d. Of the 77 patients, 9 died due to trauma(11,1%). Among the clinical parameters, Pediatric Risk of Mortality III(PRISM III) Score, inotrope requirement, extracorporeal treatment requirement, and mechanical ventilator requirement were significantly higher in non-survivors than in survivors. Among the laboratory parameters, procalcitonin(PCT), lactate/albumin ratio(LAR), neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio(NLR), and transfusion requirement were significantly higher in non-survivors than in survivors.CONCLUSION: In pediatric trauma patients, baseline PCT, LAR, and NLR values can be used to identify patients at risk for mortality.Cansu Durak Ebru Guney Sahin Yasar Yusuf Can Alican Sarisaltik Kubra Boydag Guvenc 2023World Journal of Emergency Medicine2023,14,6:1
