| 1 | Impending HRT wave precursors to the Wenchuan M_s8.0 earthquake and methods of earthquake impending prediction by using HRT wave显示文摘We deployed four geo-electric monitoring stations in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces from 2004, using the new generation of equipment (PS-100) and technologies to capture the HRT wave earthquake precursor. Before the Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake, we recorded the HRT wave precursor at the only operating station in Hongge (HG, Δ=465 km) and found that significant impending signal had been recorded at the station in the early morning ( 0―5 am) of 12th of May, 2008. The precursor for this earthquake is consistent with precursors recorded for other strong earthquakes. The measured physical properties (geo-resistivity and telluric-current) show tidal wave period oscillations from several days to several months before the earthquakes and the amplitude of such HT oscillation increases significantly towards the occurrence of an earthquake. These HT and RT waves from the epicenter have a causal relationship with the earthquakes that happened several days later. The arrival time of two RT waves is proportional to the distance from the station to the epicenter. The estimated natural decay of the amplitude is correlated with the natural period (T0) of the earthquake fault, which is proportional to the fault length. From this relationship, we can predict the earthquake magnitude. For magnitude 6―9 earthquakes, the natural period is about 1―6 hours. Such oscillation comes from the epicenter area and they can propagate several thousand kilometers in the Earth's crust. Before a strong earthquake in the shallow crust, the conductive pore fluid will experience major changes before the fault rapture. Such fluid change will emit an oscillation in the pore fluid pressure. This is the mechanism for the HRT wave generation. Since the China Earthquake Administration funded the HRT wave short-term earth-quake prediction project in 2003, the first record of HRT precursor wave has been recorded from the 2004-12-26 Sumatra Mw9.0 earthquake with the largest epicentre distance Δ=2900 km. Thereafter, we have captured HRT waves from more than twenty strong earthquakes, which are well-matched and show repeatability, consistency and regularity. All our observation with the HRT waves demonstrate that HRT wave precursors to earthquakes indeed exist. Strong earthquakes can be predicted and short-term and impending earthquake prediction is achievable in the very near future. | 4 | Preparation of Different Lights Irradiated ZnSe/GSH QDs and Their Interaction with BSA显示文摘Using L-glutathione(GSH) as a capping agent,Zn Se/GSH quantum dots(QDs) were prepared under microwave irradiation and irradiated under dark, ultraviolet light and incandescent light, respectively. The properties and interaction of different lights irradiated ZnSe/GSH QDs and bovine serum albumin(BSA) were studied systematically. The fluorescence(FL) spectra results reveal that the quenching mechanism are all the static quenching in nature. The quenching constant(Ksv) and binding constant(K) value of different irradiated Zn Se/GSH QDs and BSA all increased with the change of light types from dark to incandescent light and UV light. The number of binding site(n) is close to 1 at different temperatures. The lighting types influence the enthalpy and entropy changes. The Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spectra indicate that the light induced GSH ligand will facilitate photocatalytic oxidation on the surface of ZnSe/GSH QDs. The circular dichroism(CD)results show that the α-helicity content of BSA decreases from 60.34%, 59.31%, to 58.79% under UV lighting,incandescent lighting and dark conditions. The interaction results of different lights illuminated ZnSe/GSH QDs with BSA by CD spectra method matches well with that by FL and FTIR spectra. | 6 | Non-invasive delivery of levodopa-loaded nanoparticles to the brain via lymphatic vasculature to enhance treatment of Parkinson’s disease显示文摘Levodopa(L-DOPA),a precursor of dopamine,is commonly prescribed for the treatment of the Parkinson’s disease(PD).However,oral administration of levodopa results in a high level of homocysteine in the peripheral circulation,thereby elevating the risk of cardiovascular disease,and limiting its clinical application.Here,we report a non-invasive method to deliver levodopa to the brain by delivering L-DOPA-loaded sub-50 nm nanoparticles via brain-lymphatic vasculature.The hydrophilic L-DOPA was successfully encapsulated into nanoparticles of tannic acid(TA)/polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)via hydrogen bonding using the flash nanocomplexation(FNC)process,resulting in a high L-DOPA-loading capacity and uniform size in a scalable manner.Pharmacodynamics analysis in a PD rat model demonstrated that the levels of dopamine and tyrosine hydroxylase,which indicate the dopaminergic neuron functions,were increased by 2-and 4-fold,respectively.Movement disorders and cerebral oxidative stress of the rats were significantly improved.This formulation exhibited a high degree of biocompatibility as evidenced by lack of induced inflammation or other pathological changes in major organs.This antioxidative and drug-delivery platform administered through the brain-lymphatic vasculature shows promise for clinical treatment of the PD. | Tianqi Nie Zhiyu He Jinchang Zhu Kuntao Chen Gregory P.Howard Jesus Pacheco-Torres II Minn Pengfei Zhao Zaver M.Bhujwalla Hai-Quan Mao Lixin Liu Yongming Chen | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,8: | 1 |

| 10 | Genome-wide identification of cancer-related polyadenylated and non-polyadenylated RNAs in human breast and lung cell lines显示文摘Eukaryotic mRNAs consist of two forms of transcripts:poly(A)+ and poly(A),based on the presence or absence of poly(A) tails at the 3 end.Poly(A)+ mRNAs are mainly protein coding mRNAs,whereas the functions of poly(A) mRNA are largely unknown.Previous studies have shown that a significant proportion of gene transcripts are poly(A) or bimorphic(containing both poly(A)+ and poly(A) transcripts).We compared the expression levels of poly(A) and poly(A)+ RNA mRNAs in normal and cancer cell lines.We also investigated the potential functions of these RNA transcripts using an integrative workflow to explore poly(A)+ and poly(A) transcriptome sequences between a normal human mammary gland cell line(HMEC) and a breast cancer cell line(MCF-7),as well as between a normal human lung cell line(NHLF) and a lung cancer cell line(A549).The data showed that normal and cancer cell lines differentially express these two forms of mRNA.Gene ontology(GO) annotation analyses hinted at the functions of these two groups of transcripts and grouped the differentially expressed genes according to the form of their transcript.The data showed that cell cycle-,apoptosis-,and cell death-related functions corresponded to most of the differentially expressed genes in these two forms of transcripts,which were also associated with the cancers.Furthermore,translational elongation and translation functions were also found for the poly(A) protein-coding genes in cancer cell lines.We demonstrate that poly(A) transcripts play an important role in cancer development. | ZHAO GuoGuang JIAO Fei LIAO Qi LUO HaiTao LI Hui SUN Liang BU DeChao YU KunTao ZHAO Yi CHEN RunSheng | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,6: | 0 |

| 12 | Bifurcation-Based Stability Analysis of Electrostatically Actuated Micromirror as a Two Degrees of Freedom System显示文摘Torsional micromirror devices have been widely used in micro displays,RF switches,optical communications,and optical coherence tomography systems.In order to study the stability of electrostatically driven torsional micromirror system with double bottom plates and two voltage sources,a dimensionless,two degrees of freedom(2-DoF)dynamic model was constructed.Governed by the dimensionless phase space model equation,the pull-in and bifurcation phenomena were analyzed using the Hamiltonian method and numerical simulation.In particular,the influence of the damping coefficient and the torsion-bending coupling effect on the phase trajectory was investigated.Furthermore,the conditions that can lead to pull-in were numerically determined for saddle-node,pitchfork and Hopf bifurcations in the framework of 2-DoF system.Result showed that the dynamic pull-in voltage as predicted by the proposed 2-DoF system model is considerably lower than that by the one degree of freedom(1-DoF)system model.It was also confirmed that the pull-in voltage varies with the damping coefficient and/or the ratio of the two voltages applied to the bottom plates of the micromirror.The modelling method and stability analysis presented in this paper shall provide valuable insight to the design and control of electrostatically actuated micromirror systems. | Kuntao Ye Yan Luo Yingtao Jiang | 2018 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2018,,3: | 0 |
