| 2 | Tricrystalline TiO_2 with enhanced photocatalytic activity and durability for removing volatile organic compounds from indoor air显示文摘It is important to develop efficient and economic techniques for removing volatile organic compounds(VOCs) in indoor air. Heterogeneous Ti O_2-based semiconductors are a promising technology for achieving this goal. Anatase/brookite/rutile tricrystalline Ti O_2 with mesoporous structure was synthesized by a low-temperature hydrothermal route in the presence of HNO_3.The obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction and N_2 adsorption–desorption isotherm. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by photocatalytic decomposition of toluene in air under UV light illumination. The results show that tricrystalline Ti O_2 exhibited higher photocatalytic activity and durability toward gaseous toluene than bicrystalline Ti O_2,due to the synergistic effects of high surface area, uniform mesoporous structure and junctions among mixed phases. The tricrystalline Ti O_2 prepared at R HNO_3= 0.8, containing80.7% anatase, 15.6% brookite and 3.7% rutile, exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity,about 3.85-fold higher than that of P25. The high activity did not significantly degrade even after five reuse cycles. | 3 | A novel tomato SUMO E_3 ligase,SlSIZ_1,confers drought tolerance in transgenic tobacco显示文摘SUMOylation is an important post-translational modification process that regulates different cellular functions in eukaryotes.SIZ/PIAS-type SAP and Miz1(SIZ_1) proteins exhibit SUMO E_3 ligase activity,which modulates SUMOylation.However,SIZ_1 in tomato has been rarely investigated.In this study,a tomato SIZ_1 gene(Sl SIZ_1)was isolated and its molecular characteristics and role in tolerance to drought stress are described.Sl SIZ_1 was upregulated by cold,sodium chloride(Na Cl),polyethylene glycol(PEG),hydrogen peroxide(H_2O_2) and abscisic acid(ABA),and the corresponding proteins were localized in the nucleus.The expression of Sl SIZ_1 in Arabidopsis thaliana(Arabidopsis) siz1-2 mutants partially complemented the phenotypes of dwarf,cold sensitivity and ABA hypersensitivity.Sl SIZ_1 also exhibited the activity of SUMO E_3 ligase to promote the accumulation of SUMO conjugates.Under drought stress,the ectopic expression of Sl SIZ_1 in transgenic tobacco lines enhanced seed germination and reduced the accumulation of reactive oxygen species.SlSIZ_1 overexpression conferred the plants with improved growth,high free proline content,minimal malondialdehyde accumulation and increased accumulation of SUMO conjugates.Sl SIZ_1 is a functional homolog of Arabidopsis SIZ_1 with SUMO E_3 ligase activity.Therefore,overexpression of Sl SIZ_1 enhanced the tolerance of transgenic tobacco to drought stress. | Song Zhang Kunyang Zhuang Shiju Wang Jinlian Lv Na'na Ma Qingwei Meng | 2017 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2017,59,2: | 7 |
| 4 | Interaction of human fibrinogen receptor (GPIIb-Ⅲa) with decorsin显示文摘AIM: To build up the structure of human fibrinogen receptor GPIIb-Ⅲa, subsequently combined with its antagonist decorsin, and to investigate the interaction between decorsin and its receptor GPIIb-Ⅲa at the molecular level. METHODS: A three-dimensional (3D) molecular model of human fibrinogen receptor GPIIb-Ⅲa was generated by InsightⅡ, a distance geometry-based homologous modeling package. The structure of human fibrinogen receptor GPIIb-Ⅲa was built by the InsightⅡ/Homology module using the corresponding of integrin alphaVbeta3 (PDB filecode 1JV2) as the template. Then the primary structures were optimized by energy minimization. Subsequently the structural model was docked with its antagonist decorsin (PDB filecode ldec). RESULTS: A good substratereceptor interaction model was achieved. The interaction sites with decorsin converge at domain 8 (βA domain of β3 subunit) of GPⅡb-Ⅲa. The direct interatomic contacts were made between 16 GPⅡb/Ⅲa residues and 10 decorsin amino-acid residues. These included van der Waals contacts, electrostatic interaction, hydrogen bond, and salt bridge. Residues in contact were concentrated in four dispersed regions of human GPⅡb-Ⅲa: the RGD reaction motif (118-132 of GPⅢa), the span from 210 to 213 of GPⅢa, Thr182 residue and Asp251 residue of GPⅢa, and they were distributed over five segments of decorsin: Aspl0 residue, Asnl8 and Lysl9 residues, Arg28 residue, RGD motif, and Asp35-Pro36-Tyr37 segment. | 7 | Occurrence, variations, and risk assessment of neonicotinoid insecticides in Harbin section of the Songhua River, northeast China显示文摘Neonicotinoid insecticides(NNIs)have been intensively used and exploited,resulting in their presence and accumulation in multiple environmental media.We herein investigated the current levels of eight major NNIs in the Harbin section of the Songhua River in northeast China,providing the first systematic report on NNIs in this region.At least four NNIs in water and three in sediment were detected,with total concentrations ranging from 30.8 to 135 ng L^(-1) and from 0.61 to 14.7 ng g^(-1) dw,respectively.Larger spatial variations in surface water NNIs concentrations were observed in tributary than mainstream(p<0.05)due to the intensive human activities(e.g.,horticulture,urban landscaping,and household pet flea control)and the discharge of wastewater from many treatment plants.There was a significant positive correlation(p<0.05)between the concentrations of residual imidacloprid(IMI),clothianidin(CLO),and S4NNIs in the sediment and total organic carbon(TOC).Due to its high solubility and low octanol-water partition coefficient(Kow),the sediment-water exchange behavior shows that NNIs in sediments can re-enter into the water body.Human exposure risk was assessed using the relative potency factor(RPF),which showed that infants have the highest exposure risk(estimated daily intake(SIMIeq EDI):31.9 ng kg^(-1) bw$d^(-1)).The concentration thresholds of NNIs for aquatic organisms in the Harbin section of the Songhua River were determined using the species sensitivity distribution(SSD)approach,resulting in a value of 355 ng L^(-1) for acute hazardous concentration for 5%of species(HC5)and 165 ng L^(-1) for chronic HC5.Aquatic organisms at low trophic levels were more vulnerable to potential harm from NNIs. | Zhikun Liu Song Cui Leiming Zhang Zulin Zhang Rupert Hough Qiang Fu Yi-Fan Li Lihui An Mingzhi Huang Kunyang Li Yuxin Ke Fuxiang Zhang | 2021 | Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2021,,4: | 2 |
| 8 | Acid-assisted hydrothermal synthesis of nanocrystalline TiO_2 from titanate nanotubes: Influence of acids on the photodegradation of gaseous toluene显示文摘In order to efficiently remove volatile organic compounds(VOCs) from indoor air, onedimensional titanate nanotubes(Ti NTs) were hydrothermally treated to prepare Ti O2 nanocrystals with different crystalline phases, shapes and sizes. The influences of various acids such as CH3 COOH, HNO3, HCl, HF and H2SO4 used in the treatment were separately compared to optimize the performance of the Ti O2 nanocrystals. Compared with the strong and corrosive inorganic acids, CH3 COOH was not only safer and more environmentally friendly, but also more efficient in promoting the photocatalytic activity of the obtained Ti O2. It was observed that the anatase Ti O2 synthesized in 15 mol/L CH3 COOH solution exhibited the highest photodegradation rate of gaseous toluene(94%), exceeding that of P25(44%) by a factor of more than two. The improved photocatalytic activity was attributed to the small crystallite size and surface modification by CH3 COOH. The influence of relative humidity(20%–80%) on the performance of Ti O2 nanocrystals was also studied. | 9 | Powder metallurgy processed metal-matrix friction materials for space applications显示文摘Owing to the increasing demand for tribological brakes for space applications, the development of novel materials and advanced technologies is necessary. This paper presents the design, characterization, and realization of powder metallurgy processed metal-matrix friction materials intended for the above-mentioned tribological brakes. Selecting appropriate ingredients, which provides an effective way to tailor the properties of the friction material, is evolving as a strategy to meet the design requirements. The tribological behaviors of the friction material are experimentally investigated under different conditions, and special attention is focused on the vacuum tribology. Examinations and analyses of the friction surface and subsurface corroborate the wear mechanism. In addition, the erosion resistances of the friction material are evaluated by exposure tests of ultraviolet irradiation and atomic oxygen.
