In-situ fabricated anisotropic halide perovskite nanocrystals in polyvinylalcohol nanofibers: Shape tuning and polarized emission显示文摘We report an in-situ fabrication of halide perovskite (CH3NH3PbX3,CH3NH3 =methylammonium,MA,X =Cl,Br,I) nanocrystals in polyvinylalcohol (PVA) nanofibers (MAPbX3@PVA nanofibers) through electrospinning a perovskite precursor solution. With the content of the precursors increased, the resulting MAPbBr3 nanocrystals in PVA matrix changed the shape from ellipsoidal to pearl-like,and finely into rods-like.Optimized MAPbBr3@PVA nanofibers show strong polarized emission with the photoluminescence quantum yield of up to 72%.We reveal correlations between the shape of in-situ fabricated perovskite nanocrystals and the polarization degree of their emission by comparing experimental data from the single nanofiber measurements with theoretical calculations.Polarized emission of MAPbBr3@PVA nanofibers can be attributed to the dielectric confinement and quantum confinement effects. Moreover, nanofibers can be efficiently aligned by using parallel positioned conductor strips with an air gap as collector.A polarization ratio of 0.42 was achieved for the films of well-aligned MAPbBr3@PVA nanofibers with a macroscale size of 0.5 cm × 2 cm,which allows potential applications in displays, lasers, waveguides, etc.Linghai Meng Changgang Yang Jingjia Meng Yongzhi Wang Yong Ge Ziqiang Shao Guofeng Zhang Andrey L.Rogach Haizheng Zhong 2019Nano Research2019,12,6:9
Chiral carbon dots:synthesis, optical properties, and emerging applications显示文摘Carbon dots are luminescent carbonaceous nanoparticles that can be endowed with chiral properties, making them particularly interesting for biomedical applications due to their low cytotoxicity and facile synthesis. In recent years, synthetic efforts leading to chiral carbon dots with other attractive optical properties such as two-photon absorption and circularly polarized light emission have flourished. We start this review by introducing examples of molecular chirality and its origins and providing a summary of chiroptical spectroscopy used for its characterization. Then approaches used to induce chirality in nanomaterials are reviewed. In the main part of this review we focus on chiral carbon dots, introducing their fabrication techniques such as bottom-up and top-down chemical syntheses, their morphology, and optical/chiroptical properties. We then consider emerging applications of chiral carbon dots in sensing, bioimaging, and catalysis, and conclude this review with a summary and future challenges.Aaron Doring Elena Ushakova Andrey L.Rogach 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,4:4

Template synthesis of silver indium sulfide based nanocrystals performed through cation exchange in organic and aqueous media显示文摘Heavy-metal-free silver based I-III-VI semiconductor nanocrystals(NCs),including ternary silver indium sulfide(AgInS_(2))and derivative quaternary silver indium zinc sulfide(i.e.,AgInZn_(2)S_(4))NCs,possess advantages of low toxicity, and size-tunable band gaps approaching near-infrared spectral range, which make them candidates for use in optoelectronic and biological devices.Herein,we report syntheses of AgInS_(2) based NCs starting from In_(2)S_(3) template, which have been performed both in organic and aqueous phase through cation exchange. As a result, ternary silver indium sulfide and quaternary silver indium zinc sulfide NCs are obtained in both organic and aqueous media, and confirmed to be orthorhombic AgInS_(2) NCs and hexagonal AgInZn_(2)S_(4) NCs,respectively.Furthermore, the aqueous AgInZn_(2)S_(4) NCs with red emission and low cytotoxicity are explored for the cancer cell imaging.Na Gao Rubo Zhang Bingkun Chen Jinfeng Zhang Xiaoling Zhang Andrey L.Rogach 2021Nano Research2021,14,7:1

Photo-induced flexible semiconductor CdSe/CdS quantum rods alignment显示文摘The anisotropic absorption and emission from semiconductor CdSe/CdS quantum rods(QRs)provide extra benefits among other photoluminescence nanocrystals.Using photo-induced alignment technique, the QRs can be oriented in liquid crystal polymer matrix at a large scale. In this article,a 2D Dammann grating pattern, within“SKL”characters domains aligned QRs in composite film, was fabricated by multi-step photo exposure using several photo masks, and a continuous geometric lens profile pattern aligned QRs was realized by the single step polarization converting holographic irradiation method. Both polarized optical microscope and fluorescence microscope are employed to determine the liquid crystal director profiles and QRs anisotropic excitation properties. We have been able to orient the QRs in fine binary and continuous patterns that confirms the strong quantum rod aligning ability of the proposed method. Thus, the proposed approach paves a way for photoinduced flexible QRs alignments to provide a highly specific and difficult-to-replicate security application at a large scale.Wanlong Zhang Julian Schneider Maksym F.Prodanov Valerii V.Vashchenko Andrey L.Rogach Xiaocong Yuan Abhishek K.Srivastava 2023Journal of Semiconductors2023,44,9:0
Aggregation-induced emission of copper nanoclusters显示文摘Copper nanoclusters(Cu NCs)have recently emerged as promising luminophores, featuring ultra-small size, reasonable photostability, large Stokes shift, and long emission lifetimes.Aggregation-induced emission(AIE)has been often used to further improve both the emission intensity and stability of these clusters, with plenty of potential applications in the fields of chemical sensing and bioimaging. This review starts with a summary of the current understanding of emission mechanisms of Cu NCs and proceeds with the analysis of contributions from the Cu metal core and the organic ligands. We summarize the recent research progress on the design of ligands, and the ways on how to induce aggregation of the Cu NCs through electrostatic charge neutralization,host-guest interactions, and the use of templates. We also discuss the current understanding of emission mechanisms of Cu NCs experiencing AIE,such as the often-cited restriction of intramolecular motion and contributions from Cu(I)molecular complexes. We finish this review by providing concluding remarks and offering our own perspective on the active field of AIE of Cu NCs,with a hope to further promote the research on the fundamental aspects of this useful phenomenon.Yu-e Shi Jinzhu Ma Anrui Feng Zhenguang Wang Andrey L.Rogach 2021Aggregate2021,2,6:0
Revealing the nature of optical activity in carbon dots produced from different chiral precursor molecules显示文摘Carbon dots(CDs)are light-emitting nanoparticles that show great promise for applications in biology and medicine due to the ease of fabrication, biocompatibility, and attractive optical properties.Optical chirality,on the other hand,is an intrinsic feature inherent in many objects in nature, and it can play an important role in the formation of artificial complexes based on CDs that are implemented for enantiomer recognition,site-specific bonding, etc. We employed a one-step hydrothermal synthesis to produce chiral CDs from the commonly used precursors citric acid and ethylenediamine together with a set of different chiral precursors,namely,L-isomers of cysteine, glutathione, phenylglycine, and tryptophan. The resulting CDs consisted of O,N-doped(and also S-doped,in some cases)carbonized cores with surfaces rich in amide and hydroxyl groups;they exhibited high photoluminescence quantum yields reaching 57%,chiral optical signals in the UV and visible spectral regions, and two-photon absorption.Chiral signals of CDs were rather complex and originated from a combination of the chiral precursors attached to the CD surface, hybridization of lower-energy levels of chiral chromophores formed within CDs,and intrinsic chirality of the CD cores.Using DFT analysis,we showed how incorporation of the chiral precursors at the optical centers induced a strong response in their circular dichroism spectra. The optical characteristics of these CDs,which can easily be dispersed in solvents of different polarities, remained stable during pH changes in the environment and after UV exposure for more than 400 min, which opens a wide range of bio-applications.Ananya Das Evgeny V.Kundelev Anna A.Vedernikova Sergei A.Cherevkov Denis V.Danilov Aleksandra V.Koroleva Evgeniy V.Zhizhin Anton N.Tsypkin Aleksandr P.Litvin Alexander V.Baranov Anatoly V.Fedorov Elena V.Ushakova Andrey L.Rogach 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,5:0
