1Value of circulating cell-free DNA in diagnosis of hepatocelluar carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To investigate the value of combined detection of circulating cell-free DNA(cfDNA),a-fetal protein(AFP) and a L-fucosidase(AFU) for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS:Serum samples from 39 HCC patients and 45 normal controls were collected.Branched DNA(bDNA) was used to detect the level of cfDNA,and a receiver operating characteristic curve was employed to evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity,specificity,accuracy,positive predictive value,negative predictive value,positive likelihood ratio,negative likelihood ratio and Youden index,and to assess the diagnostic efficiency and their correlations with the clinicopathological features.AFP and AFU were detected by chemiluminescence and colorimetry,respectively.The significance of combined detection of the three biomarkers was discussed.RESULTS:cfDNA level was increased in 22 of the 39 HCC samples and in 2 of the 45 normal controls.cfDNA level in HCC samples was significantly higher than that in normal controls(P < 0.05).There were significant differences in sex and extra-and intrahepatic metastasis(P < 0.05).There was no significant correlation between cfDNA,AFP and AFU in the detection of HCC.The sensitivity of combined detection of cfDNA with one marker(AFP or AFU) and cfDNA with two markers(AFP and AFU) was 71.8%,87.2% and 89.7% vs 56.4%,53.8% and 66.7% for cfDNA,AFP and AFU used alone,respectively,the difference being statistically significant(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:Quantitative analysis of cfDNA is sensitive and feasible,and the combined detection of cfDNA with AFP or AFU or both could improve the diagnostic sensitivity for HCC.Ken Chen Hong Zhang Li-Na Zhang Shao-Qing Ju Jing Qi Dong-Feng Huang Feng Li Qun Wei Jing Zhang 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,20:16
2Roles of Rap1 signaling in tumor cell migration and invasion显示文摘Ras-associated protein-1(Rap1), a small GTPase in the Ras-related protein family, is an important regulator of basic cellular functions(e.g., formation and control of cell adhesions and junctions), cellular migration, and polarization. Through its interaction with other proteins, Rap1 plays many roles during cell invasion and metastasis in different cancers. The basic function of Rap1 is straightforward; it acts as a switch during cellular signaling transduction and regulated by its binding to either guanosine triphosphate(GTP) or guanosine diphosphate(GDP). However, its remarkably diverse function is rendered by its interplay with a large number of distinct Rap guanine nucleotide exchange factors and Rap GTPase activating proteins. 4Gait Definition and Successive Gait-transition Method Based on Energy Consumption for a Quadruped显示文摘In nature,to realize the smooth motion for different speeds,the continuous gait transition is usually required for the quadrupeds.Thus,the gait simulation of quadrupeds is a requisite step to obtain the stable and energy-efficient gait for the walking machines.In this paper,the definitions of the two gait parameters,phasic difference and duty factor are presented,which can determine the gait of the quadrupeds.Then,several typical gaits of the quadrupeds are analyzed such that the seven standard gaits and corresponding parameters are summarized.Additionally,the variance law of the two parameters,which determine the relationship of gait transition,is analyzed.Furthermore,the quadruped gait derivative spectrum (QGDS) is proposed and the gait definition of the quadrupeds is presented.To minimize the power consumption,the choice criterion of gait,the optimal gait in terms of the motion speed,duty factory,and power consumption for the walking machines,is developed.Last,the continuous variance of the gait is implemented by the simulation of the gait transition from walk to trot,which evaluate the choice criterion and transition of gait.ZHAO Danpu XU Jing WU Dan CHEN Ken LI Chengrong 2012Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2012,25,1:5

8HDAC inhibitor chidamide synergizes with venetoclax to inhibit the growth of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma via down-regulation of MYC, BCL2, and TP53 expression显示文摘Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL) is an aggressive type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. A total of 10%-15% of DLBCL cases are associated with myelocytomatosis viral oncogene homolog(MYC) and/or B-cell lymphoma-2(BCL2) translocation or amplification. BCL2 inhibitors have potent anti-tumor effects in DLBCL;however, resistance can be acquired through up-regulation of alternative anti-apoptotic proteins. The histone deacetylase(HDAC) inhibitor chidamide can induce BIM expression, leading to apoptosis of lymphoma cells with good efficacy in refractory recurrent DLBCL. In this study, the synergistic mechanism of chidamide and venetoclax in DLBCL was determined through in vitro and in vivo models. We found that combination therapy significantly reduced the protein levels of MYC, TP53, and BCL2 in activated apoptotic-related pathways in DLBCL cells by increasing BIM levels and inducing cell apoptosis. Moreover, combination therapy regulated expression of multiple transcriptomes in DLBCL cells, involving apoptosis, cell cycle, phosphorylation, and other biological processes, and significantly inhibited tumor growth in DLBCL-bearing xenograft mice. 10Sex-specific differences in white matter microvascular integrity after ischaemic stroke显示文摘background and purpose Functional outcomes after ischaemic stroke are worse in women,despite adjusting for differences in comorbidities and treatment approaches.White matter microvascular integrity represents one risk factor for poor long-term functional outcomes after ischaemic stroke.The aim of the study is to characterise sex-specific differences in microvascular integrity in individuals with acute ischaemic stroke.Methods A retrospective analysis of subjects with acute ischaemic stroke and brain MRI with diffusion-weighted(DWI)and dynamic-susceptibility contrast-enhanced(DSC)perfusion-weighted imaging obtained within 9 hours of last known well was performed.In the hemisphere contralateral to the acute infarct,normal-appearing white matter(NAWM)microvascular integrity was measured using the K_(2) coefficient and apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC)values.Regression analyses for predictors of K_(2) coefficient,DWI volume and good outcome(90-day modified Rankin scale(mRS)score<2)were performed.results 105 men and 79 women met inclusion criteria for analysis.Despite no difference in age,women had increased NAWM K_(2) coefficient(1027.4 vs 692.7×10^(-6)/s;p=0.006).In women,atrial fibrillation(β=583.6;p=0.04)and increasing NAWM ADC(β=4.4;p=0.02)were associated with increased NAWM K_(2) coefficient.In multivariable regression analysis,the K_(2) coefficient was an independent predictor of DWI volume in women(β=0.007;p=0.01)but not men.Conclusions In women with acute ischaemic stroke,increased NAWM K_(2) coefficient is associated with increased infarct volume and chronic white matter structural integrity.Prospective studies investigating sex-specific differences in white matter microvascular integrity are needed.Mark R Etherton Ona Wu Pedro Cougo Svetlana Lorenzano Hua Li Lisa Cloonan Mark J R J Bouts Arne Lauer Ken Arai Eng H Lo Steve K Feske Karen L Furie Natalia S Rost 2019Stroke & Vascular Neurology2019,4,4:2

12Light-induced irreversible structural phase transition in trilayer graphene显示文摘A crystal structure has a profound influence on the physical properties of the corresponding material.By synthesizing crystals with particular symmetries,one can strongly tune their properties,even for the same chemical configuration(compare graphite and diamond,for instance).Even more interesting opportunities arise when the structural phases of crystals can be changed dynamically through external stimulations.Such abilities,though rare,lead to a number of exciting phenomena,such as phase-change memory effects.In the case of trilayer graphene,there are two common stacking configurations(ABA and ABC)that have distinct electronic band structures and exhibit very different behaviors.Domain walls exist in the trilayer graphene with both stacking orders,showing fascinating new physics such as the quantum valley Hall effect.Extensive efforts have been dedicated to the phase engineering of trilayer graphene.However,the manipulation of domain walls to achieve precise control of local structures and properties remains a considerable challenge.Here,we experimentally demonstrate that we can switch from one structural phase to another by laser irradiation,creating domains of different shapes in trilayer graphene.The ability to control the position and orientation of the domain walls leads to fine control of the local structural phases and properties of graphene,offering a simple but effective approach to create artificial two-dimensional materials with designed atomic structures and electronic and optical properties.Jianyu Zhang Jinsen Han Gang Peng Xi Yang Xiaoming Yuan Yongjun Li Jianing Chen Wei Xu Ken Liu Zhihong Zhu Weiqi Cao Zheng Han Jiayu Dai Mengjian Zhu Shiqiao Qin Kostya S.Novoselov 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:2

14Carbon nanosheets derived from reconstructed lignin for potassium and sodium storage with low voltage hysteresis显示文摘Lignin is the second most abundant and the only nature polymer rich in aromatic units.Although aromatic-unit-rich precursors often yield soft carbon after carbonization,the side chains in lignin crosslink with the aromatic units and form a rigid three-dimensional(3D)structure which eventually leads to hard carbons.Through a graphene oxide-catalyzed decomposition and repolymerization process,we successfully reconstructed lignin by partially tailoring the side chains.Compared to directly carbonized lignin,the carbonized reconstructed lignin possesses significantly fewer defects,86%fewer oxygen-functionalities,82%fewer micropores,and narrower interlayer space.These parameters can be tuned by the amount of catalysts(graphene oxide).When tested as anode for K-ion and Na-ion batteries,the carbonized reconstructed lignin delivers notably higher capacity at low-potential range(especially for Na-storage),shows much-improved performance at high current density,and most importantly,reduces voltage hysteresis between discharge and charge process by more than 50%,which is critical to the energy efficiency of the energy storage system.Our study reveals that the voltage hysteresis in K-storage is much severer than that in Na-storage for all samples.For practical K-ion battery applications,the voltage hysteresis deserves more attention in future electrode materials design and the reconstruct ion strategy introduced in this work provides potential low-cost solution.Keren Jiang Xuehai Tan Shengli Zhai Ken Cadien Zhi Li 2021Nano Research2021,14,12:2

19Sustainable Ammonia Synthesis from Nitrogen and Water by One-Step Plasma Catalysis显示文摘Sustainable ammonia synthesis at ambient conditions that relies on renewable sources of energy and feedstocks is globally sought to replace the Haber-Bosch process.Here,using nitrogen and water as raw materials,a nonthermal plasma catalysis approach is demonstrated as an effective powerto-chemicals conversion strategy for ammonia production.By sustaining a highly reactive environment,successful plasma-catalytic production of NH_(3) was achieved from the dissociation of N_(2) and H_(2)O under mild conditions.Plasma-induced vibrational excitation is found to decrease the N_(2) and H_(2)O dissociation barriers,with the presence of matched catalysts in the nonthermal plasma discharge reactor contributing significantly to molecular dissociation on the catalyst surface.Density functional theory calculations for the activation energy barrier for the dissociation suggest that ruthenium catalysts supported on magnesium oxide exhibit superior performance over other catalysts in NH_(3) production by lowering the activation energy for the dissociative adsorption of N_(2) down to 1.07 eV.The highest production rate,2.67 mmol gcat.^(-1) h^(-1),was obtained using ruthenium catalyst supported on magnesium oxide.This work highlights the potential of nonthermal plasma catalysis for the activation of renewable sources to serve as a new platform for sustainable ammonia production.Tianqi Zhang Renwu Zhou Shuai Zhang Rusen Zhou Jia Ding Fengwang Li Jungmi Hong Liguang Dou Tao Shao Anthony B.Murphy Kostya(Ken)Ostrikov Patrick J.Cullen 2023Energy & Environmental Materials2023,6,2:1
