1Characterizations and identification of the candidate gene of rice thermo-sensitive genic male sterile gene tms5 by mapping显示文摘Previous study indicated that the thermo-sensitive genic malesterile(TGMS) gene in rice was regulated by temperature.TGMS rice plays an important role in hybrid rice production,because the application of the TGMS system in two-line breeding is laborsaving,timesaving,simple,inexpensive,efficient,and eliminating the limitations of the cytoplasmic male sterility(CMS) system.'AnnongS' is the first discovered and deeply studied TGMS rice lines in China.'AnnongS-1' and 'Y58S',two derivatives of TGMS line AnnongS,were both controlled by a single recessive gene named tms5,which was genetically mapped on chromosome 2.In this study,three populations('AnnongS-1' × 'Nanjing11','Y58S' × 'Q611',and 'Y58S' × 'Guanghui122') were developed and used for the molecular fine mapping of the tms5 gene.By analyzing recombination events in the sterile individuals using a total of 125 probes covering the tms5 region,the tms5 gene was physically mapped to a 19-kb DNA fragment between two markers 4039-1 and 4039-2,which were located on the BAC clone AP004039.After the construction of the physical map between two markers 4039-1 and 4039-2,a member(ONAC023) of the NAC(NAM-ATAF-CUC-related) gene family was identified as the candidate gene of the tms5 gene.YANG Qing-kai1,LIANG Chun-yang1,LI Jun1,JIN De-min1,AHUANG Wen2,DENG Qi-yun2,WANG Bin1(1.The State Key Laboratory of Plant Genomics,Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing,100101 2. 2Association between vascular endothelial growth factor and metastasis after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hypoxia up-regulates vascular endothelialgrowth factor (VEGF) and stimulates the growth of hepa-tocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. This study was designedto investigate the association between changes in plasmaVEGF levels after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) and HCC progression, especially in relation tometastasis.METHODS: Plasma VEGF levels were measured by quati-tative sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA R&D system). Plasma VEGF levels were measuredbefore, 3 days and 4 weeks after TACE in 30 patients withHCC. The development of metastasis was evaluated at theend of the third month after TACE.RESULTS: The plasma VEGF levels of the 30 patients withHCC were 154.47±90.17 pg/ml. The total plasma VEGFlevels after TACE increased compared with their basal levels(P<0.05), and the plasma VEGF levels had a tendency toincrease in patients with heterogenous uptake of iodizdoiland portal vein thrombosis. 3Effects of surfactants on enzyme-containing reversed micellar system显示文摘With the development of colloid interface and enzyme technologies,enzyme-containing reversed micellar system has been receiving much attention in bioseparation and bioconversion. Because of its high efficiency,it has brought new opportunities for the development of molecular biotechnology. Reversed micelles represent nano-sized aqueous droplets stabilized by surfactant amphiphiles inside the bulk organic solvents. The entrapped enzymes have enhanced activities under those conditions as suited in the lipid bilayers of biological membranes. The fundamentals of enzyme-containing reversed micellar system are described in this paper,with special emphasis on the effects of surfactants varying in concentrations and structures. The latest study progress on the surfactants application in enzyme-containing reversed micelles is reviewed. 4Cells in G_2/M phase increased in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line by EBV-LMP1 through activation of NF-кB and AP-1显示文摘Although previous studies showed that the principal oncoprotein encoded by Epstein-Barr virus, latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1), could induce the nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells in G2/M phase increased, littleis known about the target molecules and mechanisms. The present study demonstrated that LMP1 couldinduce the accumulation of p53 protein and upregulate its transactivity in a dose dependent manner, whichresulted in the decrease of the kinase activity of cdc2/cyclin B complex and inducing arrest at G2/M phasethrough the activation of NF-kB and AP-1 signaling pathways, and the effect of NF-kB was more obviousthan that of AP-1. 9Study on Biological Control Of Rhlzoctonla solanl vla Trlchoderma显示文摘Strain T02-25 was selected from approximately 30 rhizosphere isolates of Trichoderma species isolated from roots of crops. Its biological activity against Rhizoctonia solani was determined for the control efficacy to pepper seedling blight caused by R. solani in the field. The assay methods were treating R. solani sclerotia by Trichoderma conidial suspension (10^6cfu ml^-1) and scattering Thichoderma rice bran over the pepper root medium. The results showed that T02-25 was active against R.solani in both ways, and its control efficacy was 82.7% and 78.0%, respectively. 14Locally Optimum Detection of Weak Pulse Signals in Non-Gaussian Noise显示文摘In this paper, the problem of locally optimum detection of weak pulse signals in narrow-band non-Gaussian noise is discussed. A generalized model is proposed for locally optimum detectors (LOD) and the corresponding physical meaning is explained. On the basis of this generalized model, the LOD structures are derived for detecting both coherent- and incoherent-pulse signals in narrow-band non-Gaussian noise. The asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE) due to Pitman is used to evaluate the performance of these LODs.
