| 1 | Retrospective analysis of extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors显示文摘AIM:To investigate the clinicopathologic features of patients with extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors(EGISTs)in South Korea.METHODS:A total of 51 patients with an EGIST were identified.The clinicopathologic features,including sex,age,location,tumor size,histology,mitotic rate,immunohistochemical features,genetic status and survival data,were analyzed.RESULTS:The median age was 55 years(range:29-80years),and male:female ratio was 1:1.04.The most common site was in the mesentery(n=15)followed by the retroperitoneum(n=13)and omentum(n=8).The median tumor size was 9.0 cm(range:2.6-30.0cm)and the median mitotic rate was 5.0/50HPF.(1/50-185/50).KIT was analyzed in 16,which revealed 10cases with wild-type KIT and 6 cases with an exon 11mutation.Among 51 patients,31 patients had undergone surgery,and 10 had unresectable disease and had taken palliative imatinib,which resulted in 22.7 mo of progression-free survival.Of the patients who had undergone surgery,18 did not take adjuvant imatinib,and 8 of these were categorized as'high risk'according to the risk criteria.However,the relapse-free survival was not different(P=0.157)between two groups.CONCLUSION:Because the biologic behaviors of GISTs differ according to the location of the tumor,a more stratified strategy is required for managing EGISTs including incorporation of molecular features. | Jun Ho Yi Byeong-Bae Park Jung Hun Kang In Gyu Hwang Dong Bok Shin Sun Jin Sym Hee Kyung Ahn Soon Il Lee Do Hyoung Lim Keon Woo Park Young-Woong Won Sung Hee Lim Se Hoon Park | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015，21，6： | 9 |

| 6 | Weekly docetaxel and gemcitabine in previously treated metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To assess the efficacy and safety of weekly docetaxel plus a fixed-dose rate(FDR) of gemcitabine in metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(SCC).METHODS: A multi-center, open-label, prospective phase Ⅱ study was designed.Thirty-three esophageal SCC patients with documented progression after fluoropyrimidine/platinum-based first-line chemotherapy were enrolled and treated with docetaxel 35 mg/m2 and gemcitabine 1000 mg/m2 iv at a FDR(10 mg/m2 per minute) on days 1 and 8.Treatment was repeatedevery twenty-one days until disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, or consent withdrawal.The primary endpoint was response rate(RR), and secondary endpoints were safety, progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS).RESULTS: Combination of weekly docetaxel and FDR gemcitabine was well tolerated: the most common treatment-related adverse events were anemia(97%), fatigue(64%) and neutropenia(55%).One patient with multiple lung and lymph node metastases died of respiratory failure after receiving four cycles of chemotherapy, and the possibility of drug-induced pneumonitis could not be completely excluded.Disease control(objective response plus stable disease) in the ITT population was achieved in 88% of patients, and the overall RR was 30%(95%CI: 15%-46%).The median PFS and OS were 4.0(95%CI: 3.4-4.6) and 8.8 mo(95%CI: 7.8-9.8 mo), respectively.CONCLUSION: A combination of weekly docetaxel and FDR gemcitabine showed promising antitumor activity and tolerability in previously treated, metastatic esophageal SCC. | Min-Young Lee Ki Sun Jung Hae Su Kim Ji Yun Lee Sung Hee Lim Moonjin Kim Hyun Ae Jung Sung Min Kim Jong Mu Sun Myung-Ju Ahn Jeeyun Lee Se Hoon Park Seong Yoon Yi In Gyu Hwang Sang-Cheol Lee Hee Kyung Ahn Do Hyoung Lim Soon Il Lee Keon Woo Park | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015，21，14： | 2 |

In some cases, it may be diff icult to preoperatively differentiate low grade chondrosarcoma from benign cartilaginous tumors such as chondroma. We report a case of low grade chondrosarcoma of the nasal septum with characteristic radiologic f indings. Characteristic radiologic f indings such as calcif ications on computed tomography scan and a ring-and-arc pattern on enhanced T1 weighted image were useful in the preoperative diagnosis of low grade chondrosarcoma of the septum. | 16 | Impacts of statin and metformin on neuropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: Korean Health Insurance data显示文摘BACKGROUND Neuropathy is a common chronic complication in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Statin and metformin are commonly used medications in T2DM patients,and some studies showed statin-or metformin-induced neuropathy.AIM To evaluate the incidence of neuropathy among patients with T2DM associated with statin and metformin therapies.METHODS Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment national patient sample data from 2016 and 2017 were used.Patients with T2DM and no complications were divided into statin/metformin/statin+metformin users and non-users.Neuropathy incidence was defined by International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems,10th revision codes and concomitant prescriptions for anticonvulsants or antidepressants.Logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine the associations between statin/metformin/statin+metformin therapies and the incidence of neuropathy.Propensity score(PS)matching was performed on the basis of age,sex and comorbidities.RESULTS Overall,34964 and 35887 patients with T2DM and no complications were included in the Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment national patient sample datasets from 2016 and 2017,respectively.Statin therapy was associated with increased risks of neuropathy in 2016 and 2017[PS-matched odds ratio(OR)=1.22,95%confidence interval(CI):1.08-1.38;PS-matched OR=1.17,95%CI:1.03-1.33,respectively].Metformin therapy was associated with reduced risks of neuropathy in 2016 and 2017(PS-matched OR=0.30,95%CI:0.21-0.42;PSmatched OR=0.44,95%CI:0.32-0.60,respectively).Combined statin+metformin therapy was not significantly associated with neuropathy in 2016 or 2017(PSmatched OR=0.85,95%CI:0.61-1.19;PS-matched OR=0.95,95%CI:0.66-1.38,respectively).CONCLUSION Statin therapy was associated with enhanced risk of new-onset neuropathy in patients with T2DM,but metformin therapy showed the opposite association. | Hong Ki Min Se Hee Kim Jong Han Choi Kyomin Choi Hae-Rim Kim Sang-Heon Lee | 2021 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2021，9，33： | 1 |

| 19 | Quality of life outcomes including neuropathy-associated scale from a phase II,multicenter,randomized trial of eribulin plus gemcitabine versus paclitaxel plus gemcitabine as first-line chemotherapy for HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer:Korean Cancer Study Group Trial(KCSG BR13-11)显示文摘Background: A phase II clinical trial of the comparison between eribulin plus gemcitabine (EG) and paclitaxel plus gemcitabine (PG) as first-line chemotherapy for patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) found that the EG regimen was less neurotoxic, but was similar in efficacy to the PG regimen. In the present study, we analyzed functional assessment of cancer therapy-taxane (FACT-Taxane) questionnaires from patients in this clinical trial to determine their quality of life (QoL). Methods: QoL was assessed using the Korean version of the FACT-Taxane questionnaires. After baseline assessment, QoL was assessed every 2 cycles for 12 cycles and every 3 cycles thereafter. The linear mixed model was used to evaluate the difference in QoL between the EG and PG arms. Results: Of the 118 enrolled patients, 117 responded to the FACT-Taxane questionnaires at baseline, 1 in the PG arm did not. Baseline QoL scores were not different between the EG and PG arms. During treatment, taxane subscale scores were significantly higher in the PG arm than in the EG arm after 2-13 cycles of chemotherapy (all P < 0.05), except for the 11th cycle. Neuropathy-specific analysis showed that patients in the PG arm had earlier and more severe neuropathic symptoms than those in the EG arm (P < 0.001). Conclusions: In our QoL analysis, the EG regimen delayed and decreased neuropathy as compared with the PG regimen.
