1Isotopic evidence for the moisture origin and composition of surface runoff in the headwaters of the Heihe River basin显示文摘We investigated the moisture origin and contribution of different water sources to surface runoff entering the headwaters of the Heihe River basin on the basis of NECP/NCAR(National Centers for Environmental Prediction/National Center for Atmospheric Research) re-analysis data and variations in the stable hydrogen and oxygen isotope ratios(δ D and δ 18O) of precipitation,spring,river,and melt water. The similar seasonality in precipitation δ 18O at different sites reveals the same moisture origin for water entering the headwaters of the Heihe River basin. The similarity in the seasonality of δ 18O and d-excess for precipitation at Yeniugou and Urumchi,which showed more positive δ 18O and lower d-excess values in summer and more negative δ 18O and higher d-excess values in winter,indicates a dominant effect of westerly air masses in summer and the integrated influence of westerly and polar air masses in winter. Higher d-excess values throughout the year for Yeniugou suggest that in arid inland areas of northwestern China,water is intensively recycled. Temporal changes in δ 18O,δ D,and d-excess reveal distinct contributions of different bodies of water to surface runoff. For example,there were similar trends for δ D,δ 18O,and d-excess of precipitation and river water from June to September,similar δ 18O trends for river and spring water from December to February,and similar trends for precipitation and runoff volumes. However,there were significant differences in δ 18O between melt water and river water in September. 2Characteristics of coastline changes in China's Mainland since the early 1940s显示文摘Based on multi-temporal topographic maps, remote sensing images and field surveys covering the entire coastal zone of China's Mainland, the coastlines of six periods since the early 1940 s were extracted. Coastline changes over the last 70 years were then analyzed in terms of coastline structure, coastline fractals, coastline change rates, land-sea patterns, and bay areas. The results showed that mainland coastline structure changed dramatically, and due to the significant coastline artificialization mainly driven by sea reclamation and coastal engineering, the remaining natural coastline merely accounts for less than one third at present. Coastline fractal dimension represented an overall spatial pattern of 'north < entirety < south'; however, the discrepancy between the north and south coast was apparently narrowed due to dramatic coastline artificialization of northern China which in turn altered the whole pattern. Patterns and processes of land-sea interchange along the mainland coast were complex and varied spatially and temporally, with over 68% advancing toward sea and 22% retreating toward land. The net growth of land area was nearly 14.2 ×103 km2 with an average growth rate of 202.82 km2 a??; and coast retreat was characterized by area decrease of 93 bays with a magnitude of 10.1 ×103 km2 and an average shrinking rate up to 18.19% or an average shrinking speed up to 144.20 km2 a??, among which the total area of Bohai shrunk by 7.06%, with an average annual loss amounting to 82 km2. 3Foliar δ^(13)C and δ^(15)N values of C_3 plants in the Ethiopia Rift Valley and their environmental controls显示文摘The foliar C and N stable isotopic compositions(δ 13C and δ 15N) and the relationships between these compositions and environmental factors of C3 plants in the Ethiopia Rift Valley were investigated. There were three distribution patterns for foliar δ 13C with mean values of ?26.7‰±0.4‰,?29.7‰± 0.6‰,and ?26.9‰± 1.2‰ in cold-moist,temperate-moist,and arid-hot environments,respectively. The δ 15N values ranged from ?1.4‰± 1.7‰ to 14.3‰± 0.1‰,with higher values under arid-hot conditions and the lowest values in plants growing at higher altitudes under cold-moist conditions. A strong negative relationship between mean annual precipitation and δ 15N explained more than half of the observed variation in the δ 15N values(r2 = 0.54,P < 0.001);a modest positive relationship was also found between δ 15N and tem-perature(r2 = 0.32,P < 0.01). A weakly positive relationship existed between δ 13C and temperature,and changes in δ 13C values with precipitation and altitude followed quadratic curves. 4Climatic significance of the stable carbon isotope composition of tree-ring cellulose:Comparison of Chinese hemlock (Tsuga chinensis Pritz) and alpine pine (Pinus densata Mast) in a temperate-moist region of China显示文摘In the reconstruction of past climate using stable carbon isotope composition (δ13C) in tree ring,the responses of the stable carbon composition (δ13C) of multiple tree species to environmental factors must be known detailedly. This study presented two δ13C series in annual tree rings for Chinese hem-lock (Tsuga chinensis Pritz) and alpine pine (Pinus densata Mast),and investigated the relationships between climatic parameters and stable carbon discrimination (△13C) series,and evaluated the poten-tial of climatic reconstruction using △13C in both species,in a temperate-moist region of Chuanxi Pla-teau,China. The raw δ13C series of the two species was inconsistent,which may be a result of different responses caused by tree's inherent physiological differences. After removing the low-frequency ef-fects of CO2 concentration,the high-frequency (year-to-year) inter-series correlation of △13C was strong,indicating that △13C of the two tree species were controlled by common environmental conditions. The △13C series of the species were most significantly correlated with temperature and moisture stress,but in different periods and intensity between the species. During the physiological year,the impacts of temperature and moisture stress on △13C occur earlier for Chinese hemlock (previous December to February for moisture stress and February to April for temperature,respectively) than for alpine pine (March to May for moisture stress and April to July for temperature,respectively). In addition,in temperate-moist regions,the control on △13C of single climatic parameter was not strongly dominant and the op-timal multiple regressions functions just explained the 38.5% variance of the total. 5Flavonols Induced by 5-Aminolevulinic Acid Are Involved in Regulation of Stomatal Opening in Apple Leaves显示文摘Flavonols, the main flavonoids in plant leaves, have newly been proposed as a H2O2 scavenger in guard cells. However, whether 5-aminolevulinic acid(5-ALA) is involved in regulating stomatal movement of apple(Malus × domestica Borkh. ‘Fuji') leaves through flavonol accumulation remains unclear. In this study, using diphenylboric acid 2-amino ethyl ester(DPBA, a flavonol fluorescent dye) and a laser scanning confocal microscope,we observed that 5-ALA pretreatment significantly improved flavonol accumulation in guard cells of apple leaves, especially around the nucleus.Then we demonstrated that 5-ALA pretreatment inhibited ABA-induced stomatal closure via decreasing reaction oxygen species(ROS) accumulation in guard cells. Pretreatment with quercetin or kaempferol, two main kinds of flavonols in plants, also inhibited ABA-induced stomatal closure by decreasing ROS content in the guard cells. 6Stable isotope techniques in plant water sources:a review显示文摘The stable hydrogen and oxygen isotopes widely exist in various kinds of natural water.Plants have to cope with various water sources:rainwater,soil water,groundwater,sea water,and mixtures.These are usually characterized by different isotopic signatures (18O/16O and D/H ratios).Because there are relative abundance variations in water,and plant roots do not discriminate against specific water isotopes during water uptake,hydrogen and oxygen stable isotope ratios of water within plants provide new information on water sources,interactions between plant species and water use patterns under natural conditions.At present,the measurement of δD,δ18O composition of various potential water sources and stem water has become significant means to identify plant water sources.Based on previous studies,this review highlights recent advances such as theory basis,methodology,as well as different spatial and temporal scales,and existed questions and prospects.Stable isotope techniques for estimating plant water sources have provided valuable tools for conducting basic and applied research.Future studies emphasize the modification of preparing methods,isotope technique combined with other measurements,and aerial organs of plant water source should be en-couraged.Qiu Yang HongLang Xiao LiangJu Zhao MaoXian Zhou CaiZhi Li ShengKui Cao 2010Research in Cold and Arid Regions2010,2,2:3
7Structure and property of metal melt Ⅳ——Evolution of titanium melt residual bond structure and its effect on dynamic viscosity显示文摘Based on the concept of melt residual bonds, a calculating model quantitatively describing the evolution of the residual bond structure of titanium melt at the melting point or in a certain range above the melting point was established; i.e., both the size dS and the bond number n of the residual bond structure decrease monotonously with the increase of temperature. 8Filling Rules of Bevel Gears in the Closed-die Cold Forging显示文摘The closed-died cold forging technology of the bevel gears used in Jada car was investigated. With the analysis of the strain field and velocity field of the plastic deformation and the endured forces of the dies, the filling rules for the metal were analyzed by the elastic-plastic finite element method (FEM). The results show that there is a great difference among closed-die cold forging, extrusion and forging, as far as the metal flowing is concerned. The outer addendum cannot be filled completely in the closed-die cold forging of the bevel gears, and the round angle will be formed. But it does not influence the application of the bevel gears. At the beginning, the rigid area is formed in the cavity of the lower die. And then it will move upwards to supply the metal for the gear filling. 9Valence electron structure analysis of refining mechanism of Sc and Ti additions on aluminum显示文摘The mechanism of the difference of refining effect between Sc and Ti adding to aluminum can not be explained substantially with traditional theory. Valence electron structures of Al-Ti and Al-Sc alloys have been studied by using the empirical electron theory of solids and molecules (EET). The covalent bond electron numbers and interfacial electron density differences are calculated.
