| 5 | Cardiovascular morbidity and mortality as a confounder of prognosis in thyroid cancer显示文摘Thyroid cancer(TC)constitutes more than 95%of all endocrine tumors.Differentiated thyroid carcinoma(DTC),which includes the papillary and follicular types,constitutes about 90%of all TCs and 2.1%of all cancers.The incidence of DTC has increased significantly worldwide,with papillary cancer leading this trend and being the most prevalent.Whereas the prognosis of patients with DTC is generally favorable,with the overall 5-year survival rate reaching up to 95%,long-term follow-up also discloses increased propensity for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk factors,morbidity,and mortality.Cardiovascular events are linked to TC particularly in subjects aged 45 years or more.The present review and analysis seek to highlight the significance of cardiovascular disease in the overall prognosis among TC survivors and explore potential mechanisms which might link treatment choices in DTC to cardiovascular risk and disease outcome. | Elena Izkhakov Lital Keinan-Boker Naftali Stern | 2021 | Journal of Cancer Metastasis and Treatment2021,7,1: | 0 |
| 6 | Simplified methodology for a modular and genetically expanded protein synthesis in cell-free systems显示文摘Genetic code expansion,which enables the site-specific incorporation of unnatural amino acids into proteins,has emerged as a new and powerful tool for protein engineering.Currently,it is mainly utilized inside living cells for a myriad of applications.However,the utilization of this technology in a cell-free,reconstituted platform has several advantages over living systems.The typical limitations to the employment of these systems are the laborious and complex nature of its preparation and utilization.Herein,we describe a simplified method for the preparation of this system from Escherichia coli cells,which is specifically adapted for the expression of the components needed for cell-free genetic code expansion.Besides,we propose and demonstrate a modular approach to its utilization.By this approach,it is possible to prepare and store different extracts,harboring various translational components,and mix and match them as needed for more than four years retaining its high efficiency.We demonstrate this with the simultaneous incorporation of two different unnatural amino acids into a reporter protein.Finally,we demonstrate the advantage of cell-free systems over living cells for the incorporation ofδ-thio-boc-lysine into ubiquitin by using the methanosarcina mazei wild-type pyrrolysyl tRNACUA and tRNA-synthetase pair,which could not be achieved in a living cell. | Yonatan Chemla Eden Ozer Michael Shaferman Ben Zaad Rambabu Dandela Lital Alfonta | 2019 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2019,4,4: | 0 |
| 7 | Associations of Adolescence Exposure to Industrial Air Pollution with Cancer in Young Adults显示文摘There is substantial public concern about the health risks of proximity to petrochemical industries.In the Haifa Bay Area(HBA),which contains Israel’s densest industrial area,these concerns have been strengthened by elevated cancer mortality rates since the late 1960s.We studied the association between adolescent exposure to industrial air pollution in the HBA and adult-onset cancer.This is a historical cohort study.The study population comprised 2,187,317 subjects,using the Israeli medical corps data linked to the Israel National Cancer Registry with follow-up of up to 45 years.Exposure assessments were estimated by a spatial kriging interpolation model of SO2,serving as a marker for the dispersion of air pollution emitted from the complex during the study period.We found increased crude(HR=1.23,95%CI=1.17 to 1.29)and adjusted(HR=1.16,95%CI=1.10 to 1.21)risk of cancer with increased exposure to air pollution in HBA.The associations remained robust in analyses stratified by decade and socio-economic status.We found evidence of monotonically increased risk in five of 13 cancer categories(leukemia,melanoma,female breast,central nervous system,and thyroid tumors).Our findings strengthen the hypothesis that this exposure posed a carcinogenic risk during the study period. | Ruth Lev Bar-Or Yuval Gilad Twig David M.Broday Lital Keinan-Boker Ora Paltiel Ronit Sinnreich Dorit Tzur Estela Derazne Raanan Raz | 2023 | Environment & Health2023,1,1: | 0 |
