| 1 | Adaptive and regulatory mechanisms in aged rats with postoperative cognitive dysfunction显示文摘Inflammation may play a role in postoperative cognitive dysfunction. 5′ Adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase, nuclear factor-kappa B, interleukin-1β, and tumor necrosis factor-α are involved in inflammation. Therefore, these inflammatory mediators may be involved in postoperative cognitive dysfunction. Western immunoblot analysis revealed 5′ adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase and nuclear factor-kappa B in the hippocampus of aged rats were increased 1–7 days after splenectomy. Moreover, interleukin-1β and tumor necrosis factor-α were upregulated and gradually decreased. | 7 | Effect of TGO on the tensile failure behavior of thermal barrier coatings显示文摘Thermally grown oxide(TGO)may be generated in thermal barrier coatings(TBCs)after high-temperature oxidation.TGO increases the internal stress of the coatings,leading to the spalling of the coatings.Scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy were used to investigate the growth characteristics,microstructure,and composition of TGO after high-temperature oxidation for 0,10,30,and 50 h,and the results were systematically compared.Acoustic emission(AE)signals and the strain on the coating surface under static load were measured with AE technology and digital image correlation.Results showed that TGO gradually grew and thickened with the increase in oxidation time.The thickened TGO had preferential multi-cracks at the interface of TGO and the bond layer and delayed the strain on the surface of the coating under tensile load.TGO growth resulted in the generation of pores at the interface between the TGO and bond layer.The pores produced by TGO under tensile load delayed the generation of surface cracks and thus prolonged the failure time of TBCs. | Le WANG Yuelan DI Ying LIU Haidou WANG Haoxing YOU Tao LIU | 2019 | Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering2019,14,4: | 1 |
| 8 | Effects of Ethyl Pyruvate on High Mobility Group Box1 gene expression in septic lung of rat显示文摘Objective: Ethyl Pyruvate (EP) has been shown to be an effective anti-inflammatory agent in a variety of model systems. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of EP on High Mobility Group Box1(HMGB1) genes expression and the possible mechanisms of EP protecting against acute lung injury induced by sepsis. Methods: Forty Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal controls,sham operation,acute lung injury,and EP treatment (40 mg/kg intra-peritoneally every 6 hrs) groups. At the time points of 24 hours the animals in each group were sacrificed, and the lungs were harvested. Wet/dry lung weight ratio, the protein in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF),and pulmonary permeability index(PPI) were determined. The histological morphology of lung was observed under microscope. The expression of HMGB1 mRNA was measured using semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Results: EP treatment decreased wet/dry lung weight ratio, the protein in the BALF,and PPI (P<0.01). The histological morphology of lung injury was ameliorated. EP significantly inhibited the HMGB1 mRNA expression(P<0.01). HMGB1 mRNA expression in lungs positively correlation with wet/dry lung weight ratio, the protein in the BALF,and PPI.
