| 5 | Comparative proteomic analysis provides insight into a complex regulatory network of taproot formation in radish (Raphanus sativus L.)显示文摘The fleshy taproot of radish is an important storage organ determining its yield and quality.Taproot thickening is a complex developmental process in radish.However,the molecular mechanisms governing this process remain unclear at the proteome level.In this study,a comparative proteomic analysis was performed to analyze the proteome changes at three developmental stages of taproot thickening using iTRAQ approach.In total,1862 differentially expressed proteins(DEPs)were identified from 6342 high-confidence proteins,among which 256 up-regulated proteins displayed overlapped accumulation in S1(pre-cortex splitting stage)vs.S2(cortex splitting stage)and S1 vs.S3(expanding stage)pairs,whereas 122 up-regulated proteins displayed overlapped accumulation in S1 vs.S3 and S2 vs.S3 pairs.Gene Ontology(GO)and pathway enrichment analysis showed that these DEPs were mainly involved in several processes such as“starch and sucrose metabolism”,“plant hormone signal transduction”,and“biosynthesis of secondary metabolites”.A high concordance existed between iTRAQ and RT-qPCR at the mRNA expression levels.Furthermore,association analysis showed that 187,181,and 96 DEPs were matched with their corresponding differentially expressed genes(DEGs)in S1 vs.S2,S1 vs.S3,and S2 vs.S3 comparison,respectively.Notably,several functional proteins including cell division cycle 5-like protein(CDC5),expansin B1(EXPB1),and xyloglucan endotransglucosylase/hydrolase protein 24(XTH24)were responsible for cell division and expansion during radish taproot thickening process.These results could facilitate a better understanding of the molecular mechanism underlying taproot thickening,and provide valuable information for the identification of critical genes/proteins responsible for taproot thickening in root vegetable crops. | Yang Xie Liang Xu Yan Wang Lianxue Fan Yinglong Chen Mingjia Tang Xiaobo Luo Liwang Liu | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 1 |

| 7 | Associations of sleep duration with childhood obesity: findings from a national cohort study in China显示文摘Objective:Examine effect of sleep duration on children’s risk of overweight and obesity;and study associations between activities in the last hour before bedtime and sleep outcomes(sleep duration,sleep quality,and sleep onset latency).Methods:Children’s data were recruited using a questionnaire survey from a nationally representative sample of children(n=10279)in China in 2013‒2016.Mixed-effects models were used to test associations among variables stratified by sex.Results:Sleep duration was positively associated with BMI in boys(β=0.04,P=0.021).Girls with short sleep durations(<8 h/d)tended to have higher BMI values than those with normal sleep durations(8‒9 h/d)(β=0.12,P=0.063).The top three activities were playing electronic devices(Factor 1),doing homework,and reading(combined as Factor 2).Factors 1 and 2 were both significantly associated with sleep duration(β=0.17,P<0.001;β=−0.26,P<0.001,respectively).Conclusion:Sleep duration seems to affect BMI in Chinese children.Using electronic devices and reading before bedtime influenced sleep duration.Good bedtime habits and sleep duration can help weight management in children. | Liwang Gao Yang Wu Jiang Zhu Weidong Wang Youfa Wang | 2022 | Global Health Journal2022,6,3: | 1 |
| 8 | Effectiveness of a multifaceted intervention for the improvement of nutritional status and nutrition knowledge of children in poverty-stricken areas in Shaanxi Province, China显示文摘Objectives:Compare the differences between the intervention and control groups in changes of primary outcomes(body mass index[BMI]and waist-to-height ratio[WHtR])and secondary outcomes(nutrition knowledge of children and parents),from baseline to the 6-and 12-month follow-ups;examine the associations of changes in nutrition knowledge of children and their parents with children’s changes in BMI and WHtR.Data sources:Data collected from four schools in two poverty-stricken counties in northern Shaanxi Province in 2020‒2021.Methods:A multifaced intervention program targeted children(promoting healthy diet and nutrition education)and their parents(promoting nutrition knowledge)was conducted in the interventional group.Four schools,with two in each group,were randomly allocated to the intervention or control group,with 814 eligible children aged 7.1 to 12.8 years.The control group conducted myopia promotion.Differences in changes of BMI and WHtR between groups were compared with t-test.Mixed-effects model was used to examine the associations between changes in nutrition knowledge of children and parents with changes in children’s BMI and WHtR.Results:At the 6-month follow-up,the difference in changes in BMI between the intervention and control groups was 0.4 kg/m 2(P<0.001).At the 12-month follow-up,the difference in changes in BMI and WHtR between intervention and control groups was 0.1 kg/m^(2)(P<0.001)and 0.01 kg/m^(2)(P<0.001).In the intervention group,the nutrition knowledge awareness rate of children increased from 16.9%(69/409)at baseline to 21.3%(87/409)at 6-month,and 22.7%(93/409)at 12-month.The awareness rate of nutrition knowledge of parents also fluctuated,from 5.6%(23/409)to 6.6%(27/409)and 5.4%(22/409).However,the difference in changes in nutrition knowledge between intervention and control groups was non-significant.The 6-month follow-up changes in children’s nutrition knowledge scores were negatively associated with changes in BMI in girls(β=−0.26,95%confidence interval[CI]:−0.38 to−0.14,P<0.001),while positively associated with changes in WHtR in boys(β=0.003,95%CI:−0.0002 to 0.005,P=0.035).The 12-month follow-up changes in children’s nutrition knowledge scores were positively associated with changes in children’s WHtR(β=0.003,95%CI:0.0004 to 0.01,P=0.018).Conclusions:The intervention strategies did not reduce the BMI and WHtR of children,and the nutrition knowledge of children and parents increased after the intervention in intervention group.Changes in nutrition knowledge of children and their parents are associated with changes in children’s BMI or WHtR.Interventions with a new focus on obesity are needed to help improve children’s nutritional status in poverty-stricken areas in Shaanxi Province of China. | Cai Zhao Lu Ma Liwang Gao Yan Wu Yating Yan Wen Peng Youfa Wang | 2022 | Global Health Journal2022,6,3: | 1 |
| 9 | RsERF40 contributes to cold stress tolerance and cell expansion of taproot in radish (Raphanus sativus L.)显示文摘The growth and development of taproots are inhibited by cold stress in radish(Raphanus sativus L.).Ethylene-responsive element binding factors(ERF)are key participators in the cold stress response and growth regulation of plants.However,the function of ERF genes in cold tolerance and root development in radish remains elusive.Here,we showed that the secondary growth of radish taproots was inhibited by cold stress.Comparative transcriptome analysis demonstrated that the RsERF40 gene is an important regulator of the cold stress response and root growth regulation.The cold tolerance of transgenic Arabidopsis plants overexpressing the RsERF40 gene was significantly improved.Overexpressing RsERF40 in the cold-sensitive radish genotype and silencing RsERF40 in the cold-tolerant radish genotype indicated that RsERF40 was beneficial for alleviating oxidative damage under cold stress in radish.Transgenic Arabidopsis seedlings showed an increase in the elongation and radial growth of dark-grown roots.RT-qPCR analysis showed that the expression of the cold-related genes(CORs)RsCOR78 and RsCOR413PM1 and the cell wall strengthening-related genes RsCESA6 and RsEXPB3 was upregulated in transgenic Arabidopsis seedlings.Yeast one-hybrid(Y1H)and dual-luciferase reporter assays(DLA)revealed that RsERF40 directly regulates RsCOR78,RsCOR413PM1,RsCESA6 and RsEXPB3 expression,illustrating that RsERF40 enhances cold tolerance and taproot growth by modulating osmotic adjustment and cell wall mechanical strength in radish.In this study,the RsERF40-regulon was firstly found to be a new cold response pathway independent of the CBF-COR pathway conferring cold stress tolerance with increasing radish taproot growth.These results provided novel insight into the molecular mechanism underlying cold stress response and would facilitate the genetic improvement of cold tolerance in radish and other root vegetable crops. | Cui Li Baozhen Mao Kai Wang Liang Xu Lianxue Fan Yan Wang Ying Li Yinbo Ma Lun Wang Liwang Liu | 2023 | Horticulture Research2023,10,3: | 0 |

| 11 | Melatonin-induced DNA demethylation of metal transporters and antioxidant genes alleviates lead stress in radish plants显示文摘Melatonin(MT)is a tryptophan-derived natural product that plays a vital role in plant response to abiotic stresses,including heavy metals(HMs).However,it remains elusive how exogenous MT mediates lead(Pb)accumulation and detoxification at the methylation and transcriptional levels in radish.In this study,decreased Pb accumulation and increased antioxidant enzyme activity were detected under MT treatment in radish.Single-base resolution maps of DNA methylation under Pb stress(Pb200)and Pb plus MT treatment(Pb_50MT)were first generated.The genome-wide methylation level was increased under Pb stress,while an overall loss of DNA methylation was observed under MT treatment.The differentially methylated region(DMR)-associated genes between Pb_50MT and Pb200 were uniquely enriched in ion binding terms,including cation binding,iron ion binding,and transition metal ion binding.Hyper-DMRs between Pb200 and Control exhibited a decreasing trend of methylation under Pb_50MT treatment.A few critical upregulated antioxidant genes(e.g.,RsAPX2,RsPOD52 and RsGST)exhibited decreased methylation levels under MT treatment,which enabled the radish plants to scavenge lead-induced reactive oxygen species(ROS)and decrease oxidative stress.Notably,several MT-induced HM transporter genes with low methylation(e.g.,RsABCF5,RsYSL7 and RsHMT)and transcription factors(e.g.,RsWRKY41 and RsMYB2)were involved in reducing Pb accumulation in radish roots.These findings could facilitate comprehensive elucidation of the molecular mechanism underlying MT-mediated Pb accumulation and detoxification in radish and other root vegetable crops. | Mingjia Tang Liang Xu Yan Wang Junhui Dong Xiaoli Zhang Kai Wang Jiali Ying Cui Li Liwang Liu | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 0 |

| 13 | Gas cyclone-liquid jet absorption separator used for treatment of tail gas containing HCl in titanium dioxide industry显示文摘In the titanium dioxide industry,there is a lack of a low-cost and high-efficiency treatment method for chloride containing tail gas.In this paper,the removal of HCl from the titanium dioxide industry by gas cyclone-liquid jet separator was studied,while Ca(OH)_(2),Na_(2)CO_(3),NaOH solution,and water were used as absorbents.This paper investigated the influence of gas cyclone-liquid jet separator’s various process parameters on the removal rate of hydrogen chloride gas.The mechanism of mass transfer in the process of removing hydrogen chloride was discussed,and the effect and feasibility of HCl gas removal in the gas cyclone-liquid jet absorption separator were studied.The results showd that the removal efficiency of hydrogen chloride maintained above 95%,up to 99.9%,and the total mass transfer coefficient reached0.28 mol·m^(-3)·s^(-1)·k Pa^(-1).Under the same conditions,the absorption effect and total mass transfer coefficient of weak basic absorption liquid can be greatly improved by increasing the flow rate of absorption liquid,but the absorption effect and total mass transfer coefficient of strong alkaline absorption liquid can’t be improved obviously.The larger the inlet gas volume,the higher the gas concentration,the lower the absorption efficiency and the lower the total volumetric mass transfer coefficient. | Liwang Wang Hualin Wang Liang Ma Zhanghuang Yang Erwen Chen | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,4: | 0 |
| 14 | Effect of intermittent joint distribution on the mechanical and acoustic behavior of rock masses显示文摘The mechanical characteristics and acoustic behavior of rock masses are greatly influenced by stochastic joints.In this study,numerical models of rock masses incorporating intermittent joints with different numbers and dip angles were produced using the finite element method(FEM)with the intrinsic cohesive zone model(ICZM).Then,the uniaxial compressive and wave propagation simulations were performed.The results indicate that the joint number and dip angle can affect the mechanical and acoustic properties of the models.The uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)and wave velocity of rock masses decrease monotonically as the joint number increases.However,the wave velocity grows monotonically as the joint dip angle increases.When the joint dip angle is 45°–60°,the UCS of the rock mass is lower than that of other dip angles.The wave velocity parallel to the joints is greater than that perpendicular to the joints.When the dip angle of joints remains unchanged,the UCS and wave velocity are positively related.When the joint dip angle increases,the variation amplitude of the UCS regarding the wave velocity increases.To reveal the effect of the joint distribution on the velocity,a theoretical model was also proposed.According to the theoretical wave velocity,the change in wave velocity of models with various joint numbers and dip angles was consistent with the simulation results.Furthermore,a theoretical indicator(i.e.fabric tensor)was adopted to analyze the variation of the wave velocity and UCS. | Shuaiyang Fu Haibo Li Liwang Liu Di Wu Ben Wang | 2024 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2024,16,4: | 0 |
| 15 | Crystallization and Luminescence Properties of Sm3+-Doped SrO-Al2O3-SiO2 Glass-Ceramics显示文摘The Sm^(3+)-doped SrO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2(SAS) glass-ceramics with excellent luminescence properties were prepared by batch melting and heat treatment. The crystallization behavior and luminescent properties of the glass-ceramics were investigated by DTA, XRD, SEM and luminescence spectroscopy. The results indicate that the crystal phase precipitated in this system is monocelsian(SrAl_2Si_2O_8) and with the increase of nucleation/crystallization temperature, the crystallite increases from 66 % to 79 %. The Sm^(3+)-doped SAS glass-ceramics emit green, orange and red lights centered at 565, 605, 650 and 715 nm under the excitation of 475 nm blue light which can be assigned to the 4 G5/2→6 Hj/2(j=5, 7, 9, 11) transitions ofSm^(3+), respectively. Besides, by increasing the crystallization temperature or the concentration ofSm^(3+), the emission lights of the samples located at 565, 605 and 650 nm are intensified significantly.
