| 1 | Colorectal cancer:Current imaging methods and future perspectives for the diagnosis, staging and therapeutic response evaluation显示文摘In the last 10 years the mortality rate of colorectal cancer(CRC)has decreased by more than 20%due to the rising developments in diagnostic techniques and optimization of surgical,neoadjuvant and palliative therapies.Diagnostic methods currently used in the evaluation of CRC are heterogeneous and can vary within the countries and the institutions.This article aims to discuss in depth currently applied imaging modalities such as virtual computed tomography colonoscopy,endorectal ultrasound,computed tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)in the diagnosis of CRC.Special focus is put on the potential of recent diagnostic developments as diffusion weighted imaging MRI,MRI biomarkers(dynamic enhanced MRI),positron emission tomography with 2-(fluorine-18)-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose(FDG-PET)combined with computed tomography(PET/CT)and new hepatobiliary MRI contrast agents.The precise role,advantage and disadvantages of these modalities are evaluated controversially in local staging,metastatic spread and treatment monitoring of CRC.Finally,the authors will touch upon the future perspectives in functional imaging evaluating the role of integrated FDG-PET/CT with perfusion CT,MRI spectroscopy of primary CRC and hepatic transit time analysis using contrast enhanced ultrasound and MRI in the detection of liver metastases.Validation of these newer imaging techniques may lead to significant improvements in the management of patients with colorectal cancer. | Maka Kekelidze Luigia D'Errico Michele Pansini Anthony Tyndall Joachim Hohmann | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,46: | 28 |
| 2 | Actin,more than just a housekeeping protein at the scene of fertilization显示文摘Since the first demonstration of sperm entry into the fertilized eggs of Mediterranean sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus by Hertwig(1876),enormous progress and insights have been made on this topic.However,the precise molecular mechanisms underlying fertilization are largely unknown.The two most dramatic changes taking place in the zygote immediately after fertilization are:(i) a sharp increase of intracellular Ca2+ that initiates at the sperm interaction site and traverses the egg cytoplasm as a wave,and(ii) the concomitant dynamic rearrangement of the actin cytoskeleton.Traditionally,this has been studied most extensively in the sea urchin eggs,but another echinoderm,starfish,whose eggs are much bigger and transparent,has facilitated experimental approaches using microinjection and fluorescent imaging methodologies.Thus in starfish,it has been shown that the sperm-induced Ca2+ increase in the fertilized egg can be recapitulated by several Ca2+ -evoking second messengers,namely inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate(InsP3) ,cyclic ADP-ribose(cADPr) and nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide phosphate(NAADP) ,which may play distinct roles in the generation and propagation of the Ca2+ waves.Interestingly,it has also been found that the dynamic rearrangement of the actin cytoskeleton in the fertilized eggs plays pivotal roles in guiding monospermic sperm entry and in the fine modulation of the intracellular Ca2+ signaling.As it is well known that Ca2+ regulates the structure of the actin cytoskeleton,our finding that Ca2+ signaling can be reciprocally affected by the state of the actin cytoskeleton raises an intriguing possibility that actin and Ca2+ signaling may form a'positive feedback loop'that accelerates the downstream events of fertilization.Perturbation of the cortical actin networks also inhibits cortical granules exocytosis.Polymerizing actin bundles also compose the'acrosome process,'a tubular structure protruding from the head of fertilizing sperm. | 3 | 基于海上作业数据的船用柴油机排放模型验证显示文摘In this study,a model is developed to simulate the dynamics of an internal combustion engine,and it is calibrated and validated against reliable experimental data,making it a tool that can effectively be adopted to conduct emission predictions.In this work,the Ricardo WAVE software is applied to the simulation of a particular marine diesel engine,a four-stroke engine used in the maritime field.Results from the bench tests are used for the calibration of the model.Finally,the calibration of the model and its validation with full-scale data measured at sea are presented.The prediction includes not only the classic engine operating parameters for a comparison with surveys but also an estimate of nitrogen oxide emissions,which are compared with similar results obtained with emission factors.The calibration of the model made it possible to obtain an overlap between the simulation results and real data with an average error of approximately 7%on power,torque,and consumption.The model provides encouraging results,suggesting further applications,such as in the study on transient conditions,coupling of the engine model with the ship model for a complete simulation of the operating conditions,and optimization studies on consumption and emissions.The availability of the emission data during the sea trial and validated simulation results are the strengths and novelties of this work. | Luigia Mocerino CGuedes Soares Enrico Rizzuto Flavio Balsamo Franco Quaranta | 2021 | Journal of Marine Science and Application2021,20,3: | 4 |

| 7 | Acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding caused by esophageal right bronchial artery fistula:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Fistula between the esophagus and bronchial artery is an extremely rare and potentially life-threatening cause of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding.Here,we report a case of fistula formation between the esophagus and a nonaneurysmal right bronchial artery(RBA).CASE SUMMARY An 80-year-old woman with previous left pneumonectomy and recent placement of an uncovered self-expandable metallic stent for esophageal adenocarcinoma was admitted due to hematemesis.Emergent computed tomography showed indirect signs of fistulization between the esophagus and a nonaneurysmal RBA,in the absence of active bleeding.Endoscopy revealed the esophageal stent correctly placed and a moderate amount of red blood within the stomach,in the absence of active bleeding or tumor ingrowth/overgrowth.After prompt multidisciplinary evaluation,a step-up approach was planned.The bleeding was successfully controlled by esophageal restenting followed by RBA embolization.No signs of rebleeding were observed and the patient was discharged home with stable hemoglobin level on postoperative day 7.CONCLUSION This was a previously unreported case of an esophageal RBA fistula successfully managed by esophageal restenting followed by RBA embolization. | Alberto Martino Gaspare Oliva Francesco Paolo Zito Mattia Silvestre Raffaele Bennato Luigi Orsini Raffaella Niola Luigia Romano Giovanni Lombardi | 2021 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2021,13,11: | 1 |
