| 1 | Uptake of HIV Self-testing among Men Who have Sex with Men in Beijing, China: a Cross-sectional Study显示文摘Objective To examine HIV self-testing uptake and its determinates among men who have sex with men(MSM) in Beijing, China. Methods A cross-sectional online survey was conducted in Beijing, China in 2016. Participants were users of a popular Chinese gay networking application and had an unknown or negative HIV status. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine factors associated with HIV self-testing based on adjusted odds ratio(AOR) and 95% confidence interval(CI). Results Among the 5,996 MSM included in the study, 2,383(39.7%) reported to have used HIV self-testing kits. Willingness to use an HIV self-test kit in the future was expressed by 92% of the participants. High monthly income(AOR = 1.49; CI = 1.10-2.02; P = 0.010), large number of male sex partners(≥ 2: AOR = 1.24; CI = 1.09-1.43; P = 0.002), sexual activity with commercial male sex partners(≥ 2: AOR = 1.94; CI = 1.34-2.82; P = 0.001), long-term drug use(AOR = 1.42; CI = 1.23-1.62; P < 0.001), and long-term HIV voluntary counseling and testing(VCT) attendance(AOR = 3.62; CI = 3.11-4.22; P < 0.001) were all associated with increased odds of HIV self-testing uptake. Conclusion The nearly 40% rate of HIV self-testing uptake among MSM in our sample was high. In addition, an over 90% willingness to use kits in the future was encouraging. | 3 | Immobilization of functional nano-objects in living engineered bacterial biofilms for catalytic applications显示文摘Nanoscale objects feature very large surface-area-to-volume ratios and are now understood as powerful tools for catalysis,but their nature as nanomaterials brings challenges including toxicity and nanomaterial pollution.Immobilization is considered a feasible strategy for addressing these limitations.Here,as a proof-of-concept for the immobilization of nanoscale catalysts in the extracellular matrix of bacterial biofilms,we genetically engineered amyloid monomers of the Escherichia coli curli nanofiber system that are secreted and can self-assemble and anchor nano-objects in a spatially precise manner.We demonstrated three scalable,tunable and reusable catalysis systems:biofilm-anchored gold nanoparticles to reduce nitro aromatic compounds such as the pollutant p-nitrophenol,biofilm-anchored hybrid Cd0.9Zn0.1S quantum dots and gold nanoparticles to degrade organic dyes and biofilm-anchored CdSeS@ZnS quantum dots in a semi-artificial photosynthesis system for hydrogen production.Our work demonstrates how the ability of biofilms to grow in scalable and complex spatial arrangements can be exploited for catalytic applications and clearly illustrates the design utility of segregating high-energy nano-objects from injury-prone cellular components by engineering anchoring points in an extracellular matrix. | Xinyu Wang Jiahua Pu Yi Liu Fang Ba Mengkui Cui Ke Li Yu Xie Yan Nie Qixi Mi Tao Li Lingli Liu Manzhou Zhu Chao Zhong | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,5: | 9 |

| 5 | Abundant Production of Reactive Water Radical Cations under Ambient Conditions显示文摘Water radical cations,the crucial intermediates in many aqueous reactions and biochemical processes,are difficult to investigate experimentally due to their short lifetime andlowabundance.Herein,ahomemade device based on energy-tunable discharge was employed to deposit suitable amounts of energy to atmospheric pressure pure water vapor for abundant production of water radical cations,stabilized as(H_(2)O)n^(+·)(n=2-5)with a maximal abundance of≥8.3×10^(6) cps for(H_(2)O)_(2)^(+·),characterized by mass spectrometry(MS).The abundance of water radical cations was optimized by adjusting the experimental parameters such as the discharge voltage(2.5 kV),temperature of the MS inlet(140℃),carrier gas flow(20mL/min),and the distance between the discharge tip and MS inlet(12 mm).The ambient formation of water radical cationswas further confirmedby thehigh reactivity of as-prepared water radical cations,which reacted with benzene,ethyl acetate,and dimethyl disulfide instantly,showing rich chemistry with ionic and radical characteristics.Moreover,the computations usingCCSD(T)//MP2 method and density functional theory confirmed that the O-O single-electron bound dimer(B),as well as the hydronium hydroxyl radical complex(A),accounted for the unusual chemistry of the water radical cations,providing a facile approach to access the high reactivity ofwater radical cations under the ambient conditions. | Meng Wang Xiao-Fei Gao Rui Su Peng He Yuan-Yuan Cheng Ke Li Dongbo Mi Xiaoping Zhang Xinglei Zhang Huanwen Chen R.Graham Cooks | 2022 | CCS Chemistry2022,4,4: | 3 |
| 6 | Indoor massive multiple-input multiple-output channel characterization and performance evaluation显示文摘We present a measurement campaign to characterize an indoor massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel system, using a 64-element virtual linear array, a 64-element virtual planar array, and a 128-element virtual planar array. The array topologies are generated using a 3D mechanical turntable. The measurements are conducted at 2, 4, 6, 11, 15, and 22 GHz, with a large bandwidth of 200 MHz. Both line-of-sight (LOS) and non-LOS (NLOS) propagation scenarios are considered. The typical channel parameters are extracted, including path loss,shadow fading, power delay profile, and root mean square (RMS) delay spread. The frequency dependence of these channel parameters is analyzed. The correlation between shadow fading and RMS delay spread is discussed. In addition, the performance of the standard linear precoder—the matched filter, which can be used for intersymbol interference (ISI) mitigation by shortening the RMS delay spread, is investigated. Other performance measures,such as entropy capacity, Demmel condition number, and channel ellipticity, are analyzed. | 8 | Next-generation Sequencing Study of Pathogens in Serum from Patients with Febrile Jaundice in Sierra Leone显示文摘Objective People in Western Africa suffer greatly from febrile jaundice, which is caused by a variety of pathogens. However, yellow fever virus(YFV) is the only pathogen under surveillance in Sierra Leone owing to the undeveloped medical and public health system there. Most of the results of YFV identification are negative. Elucidation of the pathogen spectrum is required to reduce the prevalence of febrile jaundice. Methods In the present study, we used Ion Torrent semiconductor sequencing to profile the pathogen spectrum in archived YFV‐negative sera from 96 patients in Sierra Leone who presented with unexplained febrile jaundice. Results The most frequently identified sequencing reads belonged to the following pathogens: cytomegalovirus(89.58%), Epstein‐Barr virus(55.21%), hepatitis C virus(34.38%), rhinovirus(28.13%), hepatitis A virus(20.83%), coxsackievirus(10.42%), Ebola virus(8.33%), hepatitis E virus(8.33%), lyssavirus(4.17%), leptospirosis(4.17%), chikungunya virus(2.08%), Crimean‐Congo hemorrhagic fever virus(1.04%), and hepatitis B virus(1.04%). | 11 | Polymerization of Norbornene via an Iron-Based Complex/MAO Catalytic System显示文摘Polynorbornenes were synthesized in the presence of an iron based catalyst, 2,6-bis[1-(2,6-diisopropyl-phenylimino)ethyl]pyridine iron(Ⅱ) dichloride. The FTIR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR analysis results revealed that the structure of the obtained polynorbornenes consisted of vinyl addition polymer substructures without any ring-opening structures. The polymers were amorphous with a short-range order, displayed in the WAXD(wide angle X-ray diffraction) diagrams. The glass transition temperatures ranged from 200 to 400 ℃. | 20 | SB216763, a selective small molecule inhibitor of glycogen synthase kinase-3, improves bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis via activating autophagy显示文摘An excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix composed by insoluble collagen is the core pathogenic change of fibroproliferative diseases including pulmonary fibrosis.We recently found that autophagy,a self-catabolic process that maintains intracellular homeostasis,participates critically in the regulation of collagen degradation in the fibrotic tissues.Here we report that treatment of mice with SB216763,a potent and selective inhibitor of glycogen synthase kinase-3(GSK3),significantly decreased the bleomycin(BLM)-induced acute inflammation,attenuated pulmonary fibrosis,improved the lung function and increased animal survival through activating autophagy.Indeed,we found that treatment of mice or cultured cells with SB216763 restored the autophagy in vivo and in vitro through increasing the expression of autophagy related proteins and decreasing the physical interaction of Bcl-2 and Beclin-1.Additionally,SB216763 stimulated the binding of Bcl-2 and GSK3,which reduces the interaction of Bcl2 and Beclin-1.We conclude that the GSK3 inhibitor SB216763 improves the BLM-induced pulmonary fibrosis through stimulating autophagy core complex to restore the activity of autophagy in fibrotic lung tissue.Our work suggests that using a moderate autophagic agonist,such as SB216763,is a promising therapeutic strategy for the treatment of devastating fibroproliferative diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. | Hong Liu Su Mi Zhe Li Xiaoxi Lv Ke Li Fang Hua Zhuowei Hu | 2013 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2013,3,4: | 1 |
