2Neuroprotective mechanism of Kai Xin San: upregulation of hippocampal insulin-degrading enzyme protein expression and acceleration of amyloid-beta degradation显示文摘Kai Xin San is a Chinese herbal formula composed of Radix Ginseng, Poria, Radix Polygalae and Acorus Tatarinowii Rhizome. It has been used in China for many years for treating amnesia. Kai Xin San ameliorates amyloid-β(Aβ)-induced cognitive dysfunction and is neuroprotective in vivo, but its precise mechanism remains unclear. Expression of insulin-degrading enzyme(IDE), which degrades Aβ, is strongly correlated with cognitive function. Here, we injected rats with exogenous Aβ42(200 μM, 5 μL) into the hippocampus and subsequently administered Kai Xin San(0.54 or 1.08 g/kg/d) intragastrically for 21 consecutive days. Hematoxylin-eosin and Nissl staining revealed that Kai Xin San protected neurons against Aβ-induced damage. Furthermore, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, western blot and polymerase chain reaction results showed that Kai Xin San decreased Aβ42 protein levels and increased expression of IDE protein, but not m RNA, in the hippocampus. 3伤椎置钉联合可注射硫酸钙治疗围绝经期胸腰椎骨折的疗效分析显示文摘目的 探讨伤椎置钉联合可注射硫酸钙(MIIG)治疗围绝经期胸腰椎骨折的临床疗效.方法 回顾性分析2009年4月至2013年5月同济大学附属同济医院脊柱外科21例围绝经期胸腰椎骨折患者,联合伤椎置钉后路内固定及MIIG前路椎体增强的三维重建术式,比较术后伤椎椎体高度和Cobb角度变化情况,以疼痛视觉模拟评分(VAS)评估患者自觉症状的改变,并随访观察.结果 21例患者经伤椎置钉内固定和MIIGX3手术治疗后成功治愈,平均填充量为4.6 ml.术中渗漏者2例,无严重并发症.患者均获得随访,时间为6~36个月,平均15个月,VAS评分系统显示疼痛症状明显缓解(术前VAS评分平均为7.8分,术后VAS评分平均为2.2分),伤椎椎体高度和Cobb角较术前明显改善,术前分别为45.0%±6.4%和(19.4±4.5)°,末次随访分别为15.4 %±3.9%和(8.7±3.2)°.除2例椎体高度丢失12%外,其余椎体高度平均恢复达正常的85%.结论 围绝经期患者的骨折伤椎,经伤椎置钉联合MIIG的手术治疗,可达到安全有效、复位满意、稳定持久的临床疗效.于研 曾至立 李山珠 贾永伟 荚龙 王建杰 吴周睿 胡笑 徐委 Sujan Maharjan 程黎明 2013中华医学杂志2013,93,45:9
4Progress in the treatment of pulmonary metastases after liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is the fifth most common cancer in the world, and is the third leading cause of cancer-related death. Liver transplantation(LT) has become a curative treatment for patients with HCC. However, recurrence and metastasis after LT are the main factors reducing long-term survival in patients, and the lung is the most common site of metastasis after LT for HCC, although metastasis to liver, para-aortic lymph nodes and renal periphery are observed. Thus, the treatment of pulmonary metastases after LT for HCC has become a hot research topic, the successful treatment of pulmonary metastases can significantly prolong the survival of LT patients. Although single conventional treatment(chemotherapy, surgery and external beam radiation therapy), immunosuppression, image-guided minimally invasive therapy(radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, cryoablation, and brachytherapy) and molecular targeted drugs have had a significant effect, patients do not have durable remission and the long-term survival rate is disappointing. Therefore, improving existing treatments and identifying a more effective combination therapy are important research issues in the prevention and treatment of pulmonary metastases after LT for HCC. 5A laser ablated graphene-based flexible self-powered pressure sensor for human gestures and finger pulse monitoring显示文摘Flexible triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs)-based pressure sensors are very essential for the wide-range applications, comprising wearable healthcare systems, intuitive human-device interfaces, electronic-skin (e-skin), and artificial intelligence. Most of conventional fabrication methods used to produce high-performance TENGs involve plasma treatment, photolithography, printing, and electro-deposition. However, these fabrication techniques are expensive, multi-step, time-consuming and not suitable for mass production, which are the main barriers for efficient and cost-effective commercialization of TENGs. Here, we established a highly reliable scheme for the fabrication of a novel eco-friendly, low cost, and TENG-based pressure sensor (TEPS) designed for usage in self-powered-human gesture detection (SP-HGD) likewise wearable healthcare applications. The sensors with microstructured electrodes performed well with high sensitivity (7.697 kPa^-1), a lower limit of detection (~ 1 Pa), faster response time (< 9.9 ms), and highly stable over > 4,000 compression-releasing cycles. 6改良腹腔镜巨脾切除术治疗儿童血液病的临床研究显示文摘目的总结改良的腹腔镜辅助下巨脾切除术治疗儿童血液病的经验和特点。方法回顾性分析2007年3月至2011年12月30例行腹腔镜巨脾切除术的血液病患儿的临床资料。其中男性18例,女性12例;年龄2~14岁。原发病包括地中海贫血17例、遗传性球形红细胞增多症4例、原发性血小板减少性紫癜9例。采用改良的腹腔镜辅助下巨脾切除术:双重夹闭脾动脉暂不切断,分离完毕、脾血充分回流后,再将脾脏完全游离。记录患者手术及并发症情况,术后1周复查血红蛋白及血小板计数。结果26例顺利完成手术;中转开腹4例,其中2例特发性血小板减少性紫癜因接受激素治疗后过于肥胖而致术中暴露差,1例B型地中海贫血因合并肝重度肿大致腹腔内操作不便,1例为脾栓塞术后因脾周粘连严重术中分离时出血量较多。手术时间110~130min,平均120min。术中出血量35~100ml,平均45ml。患儿术后恢复顺利,平均住院时间5d。与术前相比,术后1周患者血红蛋白及血小板计数明显改善。结论改良腹腔镜巨脾切除术使许多过去认为难以实施的伴巨脾的血液病患儿的腹腔镜手术成为了可能。邓小耿 唐晶 伍耀豪 Maharjan Aumir 张杰 周嘉嘉 曾乐祥 邱荣林 2013中华外科杂志2013,51,9:6
7Optimization of taste-masking on ibuprofen microspheres with selected structure features显示文摘The microsphere was a primary particulate system for taste-masking with unique structural features defined by production process. In this article, ibuprofen lipid microspheres of octadecanol and glycerin monostearate were prepared to mask the undesirable taste of ibuprofen via three kinds of spray congealing processes, namely, air-cooling, water-cooling and citric acid solution-cooling. The stereoscopic and internal structures of ibuprofen microspheres were quantitatively analyzed by synchrotron radiation X-ray micro-computed tomography(SR-μCT) to establish the relationship between the preparation process and microsphere architectures. It was found that the microstructure and morphology of the microspheres were significantly influenced by preparation processes as the primary factors to determine the release profiles and taste-masking effects. The sphericity of ibuprofen microspheres congealed in citric acid solution was higher than that of other two and its morphology was more regular than that being congealed in air or distilled water, and the contact angles between congealing media and melted ibuprofen in octadecanol and glycerin monostearate well demonstrated the structure differences among microspheres of three processes which controlled the release characteristics of the microspheres. The structure parameters like porosity, sphericity, and radius ratio from quantitative analysis were correlated well with drug release behaviors. 8Is laser photocoagulation still effective in diabetic macular edema? Assessment with optical coherence tomography in Nepal显示文摘AIM: To find out the outcome of laser photocoagulation in clinically significant macular edema (CSME) by optical coherence tomography (OCT). · METHODS: It was a prospective, non-controlled, case series study enrolling 81 eyes of 64 patients with CSME between August 2008 and January 2010. All patients received modified grid photocoagulation with frequency doubled Nd: YAG laser. Each patient was evaluated in terms of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and regression or progression of maculopathy after laser therapy at 1, 3 and 6 months. Spearman's correlation test was used to show the correlation between BCVA and total macular volume (TMV). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare among groups and independent t-test was used to compare in each group. · RESULTS: There is high correlation between BCVA and TMV (P ≤0.001). BCVA improved in 50.6%, remained static in 39.5 % and deteriorated in 9.9% patients after 6 month of treatment. The Baseline TMV (mean and SD) were 9.26±1.83, 10.4±2.38, 11.5±3.05, 8.89±0.75 and 9.47±1.98 mm3 for different OCT patterns, ST (sponge like thickening), CMO (cystoid macular edema), SFD (subfoveal detachment), VMIA (Vitreo macular interface abnormality) and average TMV respectively (P =0.04). After 6 months of laser treatment, the mean TMV decreased from 9.47±1.98mm3 to 8.77±1.31mm3(P =0.01). In ST there was significant decrease in TMV, P =0.01, Further within these groups at 6 months, they were significantly different, P =0.01. · CONCLUSION: OCT showed the different morphological variant of CSME while the response of treatment is different. TMV decreased the most and hence showed the improvement in vision after 6 months of laser treatment. 9Evaluation of SWAT sub-daily runoff estimation at small agricultural watershed in Korea显示文摘A study was undertaken for the prediction of runoff flow from 0.8 ha field-sized agricultural watershed in South Korea using Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) sub-daily. The SWAT model with sub-daily configuration predicted flow from the watershed within the range of acceptable accuracy. The SWAT sub-daily simulations were carried out for a total of 18 rainfall events, 9 each for calibration and validation. Overall trend and extent of matching simulated flow for the rainfall events in 2007-2008 with measured data during the calibration process were coefficient of determination (R2) value of 0.88 and Nash and Sutcliffe Efficiency (ENs) value of 0.88. For validation, R2 and ENs values were 0.9 and 0.84, respectively. Whereas R2 and ENs values for simulation results using daily rainfall data were 0.79 and -0.01, respectively, that were observed to be out of acceptable limits for the model simulation. The importance of higher time resolution (hourly) precipitation records for flow simulation were evaluated by comparing Ra and ENs with 15 min, 2 h, 6 h and 12 h precipitation data, which resulted in lower statistics with increases in time resolution of precipitation data. The SWAT sub-daily sensitivity analysis was performed with the consideration of hydraulic parameter and was found as in the rank order of CN2 (curve number), ESCO (soil evaporation compensation factor), GW_DELAY (ground water delay time), ALPHA BF (base flow alpha factor), GWQMN (a threshold-minimum depth of water in the shallow aquifer required for return flow to occur), REVAPMN (minimum depth of water in shallow aquifer for re-evaporation to occur), LAT TIME (lateral flow travel time) respectively. These sensit]-ve parameters were evaluated at 10% higher and lower values of the parameters, corresponding to 70.5% higher and 23.2% lower in simulated flow out from the SWAT model. 10Atmospheric particle-bound polycyclic aromatic compounds over two distinct sites in Pakistan:Characteristics,sources and health risk assessment显示文摘Much attention is drawn to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)as an air pollutant due to their toxic,mutagenic and carcinogenic properties.Therefore,to understand the levels,seasonality,sources and potential health risk of PAHs in two distinct geographical locations at Karachi and Mardan in Pakistan,total suspended particle(TSP)samples were collected for over one year period.The average total PAH concentrations were 31.5±24.4 and 199±229 ng/m^(3) in Karachi and Mardan,respectively.The significantly lower concentration in Karachi was attributed to diffusion and dilution of the PAHs by the influence of clean air mass from the Arabian sea and high temperature,enhancing the volatilization of the particle phase PAHs to the gas phase.Conversely,the higher concentration(^(-)6 times)in Mardan was due to large influence from local and regional emission sources.A clear seasonality was observed at both the sites,with the higher values in winter and post-monsoon due to higher emissions and less scavenging,and lower values during monsoon season due to the dilution effect.Diagnostic ratios and principal component analysis indicated that PAHs in both sites originated from traffic and mixed combustion sources(fossil fuels and biomass).The average total Ba P equivalent concentrations(Ba P eq)in Karachi and Mardan were 3.26 and 34 ng/m^(3),respectively,which were much higher than the WHO guideline of 1 ng/m^(3).The average estimates of incremental lifetime cancer risk from exposure to airborne Ba P eq via inhalation indicated a risk to human health from atmospheric PAHs at both sites.Linda Maharjan Shichang Kang Lekhendra Tripathee Chaman Gul Huijun Zheng Quanlian Li Pengfei Chen Mukesh Rai Ewerton Santos 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,2:2

12A two-scale approach for estimating forest aboveground biomass with optical remote sensing images in a subtropical forest of Nepal显示文摘Forests account for 80%of the total carbon exchange between the atmosphere and terrestrial ecosystems.Thus,to better manage our responses to global warming,it is important to monitor and assess forest aboveground carbon and forest aboveground biomass(FAGB).Different levels of detail are needed to estimate FAGB at local,regional and national scales.Multi-scale remote sensing analysis from high,medium and coarse spatial resolution data,along with field sampling,is one approach often used.However,the methods developed are still time consuming,expensive,and inconvenient for systematic monitoring,especially for developing countries,as they require vast numbers of field samples for upscaling.Here,we recommend a convenient two-scale approach to estimate FAGB that was tested in our study sites.The study was conducted in the Chitwan district of Nepal using GeoEye-1(0.5 m),Landsat(30 m)and Google Earth very high resolution(GEVHR)Quickbird(0.65 m)images.For the local scale(Kayerkhola watershed),tree crowns of the area were delineated by the object-based image analysis technique on GeoEye images.An overall accuracy of 83%was obtained in the delineation of tree canopy cover(TCC)per plot.A TCC vs.FAGB model was developed based on the TCC estimations from GeoEye and FAGB measurements from field sample plots.A coefficient of determination(R2)of 0.76 was obtained in the modelling,and a value of 0.83 was obtained in the validation of the model.To upscale FAGB to the entire district,open source GEVHR images were used as virtual field plots.We delineated their TCC values and then calculated FAGB based on a TCC versus FAGB model.Using the multivariate adaptive regression splines machine learning algorithm,we developed a model from the relationship between the FAGB of GEVHR virtual plots with predictor parameters from Landsat 8 bands and vegetation indices.The model was then used to extrapolate FAGB to the entire district.This approach considerably reduced the need for field data and commercial very high resolution imagery while achieving two-scale forest information and FAGB estimates at high resolution(30 m)and accuracy(R2=0.76 and 0.7)with minimal error(RMSE=64 and 38 tons ha-1)at local and regional scales.This methodology is a promising technique for cost-effective FAGB and carbon estimations and can be replicated with limited resources and time.The method is especially applicable for developing countries that have low budgets for carbon estimations,and it is also applicable to the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation(REDD?)monitoring reporting and verification processes.Upama A.Koju Jiahua Zhang Shashish Maharjan Sha Zhang Yun Bai Dinesh B.I.P.Vijayakumar Fengmei Yao 2019Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,6:2
