1A generalized supervised classification scheme to produce provincial wetland inventory maps:an application of Google Earth Engine for big geo data processing显示文摘Wetlands are important natural resources due to their numerous ecological services.Consequently, identifying their locations and extents is imperative. The stability,repeatability,cost-effectiveness,multi-scale coverage, and proper spatial resolution imagery of satellites provide a valuable opportunity for their use in various large-scale applications, such as provincial wetland mapping. To do so,it is required to(1)process and classify big geo data(i.e.a large amount of satellite datasets)in a time-and computationally-efficient approach and(2)collect a large amount of field samples. In this study,Google Earth Engine(GEE)and machine learning algorithms were utilized to process thousands of remote sensing images and produce provincial wetland inventory maps of the three Canadian provinces of Manitoba,Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador(NL).Additionally, using GEE,a generalized supervised classification method is proposed to produce a regional wetland map from a large area(e.g.,a province)when lacking field samples. In fact, using the field data from only Manitoba and assuming that all wetlands in Canada have similar characteristics, the wetland maps were generated for the other two provinces. The overall classification accuracies for Manitoba,Quebec, and NL were 84%,78%,and 82%,respectively,indicating the high potential of the proposed method for aiding provincial wetland inventory systems.Meisam Amani Brian Brisco Majid Afshar S.Mohammad Mirmazloumi Sahel Mahdavi Sayyed Mohammad Javad Mirzadeh Weimin Huang Jean Granger 2019Big Earth Data2019,3,4:4
2Effect of inertia nonlinearity on dynamic response of an asymmetric building equipped with tuned mass dampers显示文摘This study investigates the effect of nonlinear inertia on the dynamic response of an asymmetric building equipped with Tuned Mass Dampers(TMDs).In the field of structural engineering, many researchers have developed models to study the behavior of nonlinear TMDs,but the effect of nonlinear inertia has not received as much attention for asymmetric buildings. To consider nonlinear inertia, the equations of motion are derived in a local rotary coordinates system. The displacements and rotations of the modeled building and TMDs are defined by five-degree-of-freedom(5-DOFs).The equations of motion are derived by using the Lagrangian method. Also in the proposed nonlinear model, the equations of motion are different from a conventional linear model. In order to compare the response of the proposed nonlinear model and a conventional linear model, numerical examples are presented and the response of the modeled buildings are derived under harmonic and earthquake excitations. It is shown that if the nonlinear inertia is considered, the response of the modeled structures changes and the conventional linear approach cannot adequately model the dynamic behavior of the asymmetric buildings which are equipped with TMDs.Hassan Rezazadeh Fereidoun Amini Majid Amin Afshar 2020Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2020,19,2:2
3Nano-alumina based(alpha and gamma)drilling fluid system to stabilize high reactive shales显示文摘Most of water based drilling fluids easily penetrate into shale formations and cause serious problems such as well instability, destruction of the formation, wall pipe folding and pipe adhesion. The present research aims to assess the effects of alumina nano-particles(alpha and gamma)on shale/clay stability due to the unique specifications of alumina(alpha and gamma)nano particles. The SEM,XRD,EDAX and AFM analyses of recovered shale samples indicate that the average size of alpha alumina nano-particles coating the shale surface and the pores existing in the shale is between 25 and 35 nm,whereas the average size of gamma alumina nano-particles coating the shale surface and the pores present in the shale is between 20 and 30 nm.In addition, samples recovered by nano-alpha reveal more porosity remained in the shale sample in comparison with the nano-gamma nano-sample.Furthermore,the results obtained from EDAX illustrate a suitable nano-gamma alumina over the recovered shale. The experiment with five types of drilling fluid without the presence of potassium chloride as an inhibitor salt designed. Thus, the water based drilling fluid containing nano-gamma alumina with less than 1%wt was chosen as the best sample.Generally, the presence of alumina nano-particles optimizes the stability of formations containing ions like shale.Ali Hassanzadeh Afshar Alihosseini Majid Monajjemi Mahdi Nazari-Sarem 2021Petroleum2021,7,2:1
4Neuroprotective effects of the immunomodulatory drug Setarud on cerebral ischemia in male rats显示文摘Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant agents can alleviate ischemic cerebral injury. The immunomodulary drug Setarud, which is composed of herbal extracts including Rosa canina, Urtica dioica and Tanacetum vulgare, supplemented with selenium exhibits anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. Therefore, we hypothesized that Setarud will have a neuroprotective effect against ischemic cerebral injury. To validate this hypothesis, rats were intraperitoneally administered with 0.66 mL/kg Setarud for 30 minutes after middle cerebral artery occlusion. Triphenyltetrazolium chloride staining showed that Setarud could reduce cerebral infarct volume of rats subjected to cerebral ischemia. Transmission electron microscopy and hematoxylin-eosin staining results showed that Setarud could alleviate the degenerative changes in cortical neurons of rats with cerebral ischemia. The inclined plate test and prehensile test showed that Setarud could significantly improve the motor function of rats with cerebral ischemia. These findings suggest that Setarud shows neuroprotective effects against ischemic brain injury.Farzaneh Vafaee Nasser Zangiabadi Fatemeh Mehdi Pour Farzaneh Dehghanian Majid Asadi-Shekaari Hossein Karimi Afshar 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,27:0
