1Neuropathy experienced by colorectal cancer patients receiving oxaliplatin: A qualitative study to validate the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy/Gynecologic Oncology Group-Neurotoxicity scale显示文摘BACKGROUND Although oxaliplatin is widely established as a standard treatment in colorectal cancer(CRC),oxaliplatin-induced neuropathy has emerged as a prominent doselimiting side effect associated with quality of life decrements.Ongoing monitoring and management of neuropathy is important for CRC patient quality of life and adherence to treatment.Therefore,a validated self-reported measure of neuropathy would aid in the management and assessment of oxaliplatininduced neuropathy in clinical practice and research.We sought to evaluate the content validity of the 13-item Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy/Gynecologic Oncology Group-Neurotoxicity subscale(FACT/GOGNtx)for CRC patients receiving oxaliplatin.AIM To understand the neuropathy experiences of CRC patients and assess content validity of the FACT/GOG-Ntx.METHODS Semi-structured concept elicitation and cognitive debriefing interviews were conducted with 31 CRC patients experiencing peripheral neuropathy from current or previous oxaliplatin treatment.Interview data were analyzed using a constant comparative approach,and data were mapped to the FACT/GOG-Ntx to assess content validity.RESULTS Mean age of the sample was 54(range 34-82).The sample was primarily Caucasian(84%)and consisted of nearly equal numbers of men and women.Participants described 28 unique neuropathy symptoms;hand tingling(experienced by 87%of respondents);feet tingling(81%);hand numbness(68%);and feet numbness(84%)were most frequently mentioned.Neuropathy symptoms occurring on the feet were most often identified as most bothersome by participants.Eleven of the 13 FACT/GOG-Ntx items exhibited moderate to strong evidence of content validity.Two items related to trouble hearing and ringing in the ears had weak support;however,these items represent severe neuropathy and could be useful for a patient reported outcome measure.CONCLUSION The FACT/GOG-Ntx represents the key neuropathy experiences of CRC patients treated with oxaliplatin.Karen Kaiser Madison Lyleroehr Sara Shaunfield Leilani Lacson Maria Corona Sheetal Kircher Malin Nittve David Cella 2020World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2020,12,2:2
2Role of diet and nutrition in inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBDs)are closely linked to nutrition.The latest research indicates that diet and nutrition are significantly involved in the etiopathogenesis of the disease,although their specific role throughout its clinical course still remains unclear.This study reviewed how diet and nutrition are associated with IBD development and management.Even though specific diets have been shown to bring about positive outcomes,there is currently no scientific consensus regarding an appropriate diet that would benefit all IBD patients.We suggest that individualized dietary recommendations are of the greatest importance and that diets should be planned to provide individual IBD patients with specific nutrient requirements while keeping all the clinical aspects of the patients in mind.Further research is clearly necessary to investigate nutritional factors involved in IBD development and,especially,to evaluate the applications of the diets during the course of the disease.Marina Moreira de Castro Lívia Bitencourt Pascoal Karine Mariane Steigleder Beatriz Piatezzi Siqueira Ligiana Pires Corona Maria de Lourdes Setsuko Ayrizono Marciane Milanski Raquel Franco Leal 2021World Journal of Experimental Medicine2021,11,1:2

4Sampling strategies for estimating forest cover from remote sensing-based two-stage inventories显示文摘Background: Remote sensing-based inventories are essential in estimating forest cover in tropical and subtropical countries, where ground inventories cannot be performed periodically at a large scale owing to high costs and forest inaccessibility(e.g. REDD projects) and are mandatory for constructing historical records that can be used as forest cover baselines. Given the conditions of such inventories, the survey area is partitioned into a grid of imagery segments of pre-fixed size where the proportion of forest cover can be measured within segments using a combination of unsupervised(automated or semi-automated) classification of satellite imagery and manual(i.e. visual on-screen)enhancements. Because visual on-screen operations are time expensive procedures, manual classification can be performed only for a sample of imagery segments selected at a first stage, while forest cover within each selected segment is estimated at a second stage from a sample of pixels selected within the segment. Because forest cover data arising from unsupervised satellite imagery classification may be freely available(e.g. Landsat imagery)over the entire survey area(wall-to-wall data) and are likely to be good proxies of manually classified cover data(sample data), they can be adopted as suitable auxiliary information.Methods: The question is how to choose the sample areas where manual classification is carried out. We have investigated the efficiency of one-per-stratum stratified sampling for selecting segments and pixels, where to carry out manual classification and to determine the efficiency of the difference estimator for exploiting auxiliary information at the estimation level. The performance of this strategy is compared with simple random sampling without replacement.Results: Our results were obtained theoretically from three artificial populations constructed from the Landsat classification(forest/non forest) available at pixel level for a study area located in central Italy, assuming three levels of error rates of the unsupervised classification of satellite imagery. The exploitation of map data as auxiliary information in the difference estimator proves to be highly effective with respect to the Horvitz-Thompson estimator,in which no auxiliary information is exploited. The use of one-per-stratum stratified sampling provides relevant improvement with respect to the use of simple random sampling without replacement.Conclusions: The use of one-per-stratum stratified sampling with many imagery segments selected at the first stage and few pixels within at the second stage- jointly with a difference estimator- proves to be a suitable strategy to estimate forest cover by remote sensing-based inventories.Piermaria Corona Lorenzo Fattorini Maria Chiara Pagliarella 2015Forest Ecosystems2015,2,3:0
