| 2 | Polymorphisms in ghrelin and heparan sulfate proteoglycan genes and their association with diabetic nephropathy in Pakistani population显示文摘Diabetic nephropathy(DN),a long term complication of diabetes,is the most common cause of end-stage renal disease, increasing the risk of death.Genetic predispositions play an important role in determining the susceptibility of the development of DN.Heparan sulphate proteoglycan(HSPG) and ghrelin(GH) gene polymorphisms are associated with the risk of DN.T allele frequency of the HSPG gene determined by BamHI polymorphism located in intron 6 may be a risk factor for the development of renal dysfunction in DN(Fisher two tailed test,CI = 95%,d.f.= 29,P = 0.016).The ghrelin gene polymorphism is caused by a cytosine-to-adenine transition in exon 2 of the preproghrelin gene forming Leu72Met variant. In Pakistani population, the preproghrelin Leu72Met polymorphism was observed to be not associated with diabetic nephropathy in patients as indicated by statistical analysis(CI = 95%,d.f.= 29,P = 0.691).The allelic frequencies of HSPG genetic polymorphism has the potential to be used as diagnostic markers for diabetic nephropathy disease. | Khuram Shehzad Maria Rasool Mahjabeen Saleem Mamoona Naz | 2012 | Journal of Chinese Pharmaceutical Sciences2012,21,3: | 1 |
| 3 | Enhancing the dissolution of phenylbutazone using Syloid based mesoporous silicas for oral equine applications显示文摘Three mesoporous silica excipients(Syloid? silicass AL-1 FP, XDP 3050 and XDP 3150) were formulated with a model drug known for its poor aqueous solubility, namely phenylbutazone, in an attempt to enhance the extent and rate of drug dissolution. Although other forms of mesoporous silica have been investigated in previous studies, the effect of inclusion with these specific Syloid? silicas based excipients and more interestingly, with phenylbutazone, is unknown. This work reports a significant enhancement for both the extent and rate of drug release for all three forms of Syloid? silicas at a 1:1 drug:silica ratio over a period of 30 min. An explanation for this increase was determined to be conversion to the amorphous form and an enhanced drug loading ability within the pores. Differences between the release profiles of the three silicas were concluded to be a consequence of the physicochemical differences between the three forms. Overall, this study confirms that Syloid? silicas based excipients can be used to enhance dissolution, and potentially therefore bioavailability, for compounds with poor aqueous solubility such as phenylbutazone. In addition, it has been confirmed that drug release can be carefully tailored based on the choice of Syloid? silicas and desired release profile. | Laura J. Waters John P. Hanrahan Joseph M. | 4 | Green Attitudes, Human Values, and Wellbeing among Hospitality Service Employees显示文摘This research aims to explore the intricate nature of the association between green attitudes and well-being in theworkplace. Based on the basic human value theory, this study attempted to unearth the moderating effects of itstwo main bipolar segments, namely self-transcendence-self-enhancement and openness to change-conservation.A quantitative approach with a sample of 1,532 hospitality employees from 35 European countries was used. Wefound that a green attitude contributes to deriving employee well-being. Further, we found empirical support forthe influence of human values, in the sense that this relationship is reinforced among the workers who are morealtruistic and receptive to changes. Moreover, this research suggests strategies oriented to reduce environmentaldegradation and achieve sustainable development in the hospitality sector. This article provides ideas to cope withthe challenges posed by COVID-19, particularly in the hospitality industry seriously damaged by the pandemicwhere the future of many jobs is in jeopardy. | Faisal Mahmood Maria Saleem Antonio Ariza-Montes Heesup Han | 2022 | International Journal of Mental Health Promotion2022,24,6: | 0 |
| 5 | The current status of anti-GPCR drugs against different cancers显示文摘G protein coupled receptors(GPCRs)have emerged as the most potential target for a number of drug discovery programs ranging from control of blood pressure, diabetes, cure for genetic diseases to treatment of cancer.A panel of different ligands including hormones, peptides, ions and small molecules is responsible for activation of these receptors.Molecular genetics has identified key GPCRs,whose mutations or altered expressions are linked with tumorgenicity. In this review,we discussed recent advances regarding the involvement of GPCRs in the development of cancers and approaches to manipulating the mechanism behind GPCRs involved tumor growth and metastasis to treat different types of human cancer. This review provides an insight into the current scenario of GPCR-targeted therapy, progress to date and the challenges in the development of anticancer drugs. | Sana Usman Maria Khawer Shazia Rafique Zara Naz Komal Saleem | 2020 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2020,10,6: | 0 |
