| 6 | A digital earth platform for sustainability显示文摘Based on the experience of the International Society for Digital Earth(ISDE),this paper describes some challenges foreseen in order to develop a Digital Earth platform that can support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The use of ready-to-use derived geospatial information is essential.Future Earth’s methodology of‘co-design’aims to bring together natural, social scientists and decision makers to plan and carry out research for sustainability.Sustainability implies transdisciplinary research, but in order for scientists of different disciplines to work together, they will need to be able to share, access and use common data. This is by far not simple! While the good will to share data might exist, the associated technological, ethical and privacy issues are difficult to solve. An adequate e-infrastructure will be required.ISDE could consider to use the SDGs is the basis to develop the desired Digital Earth platform. This paper,by no means, covers everything for a Digital Earth platform,it aims to trigger research discussions and to have a good view about a starting point. | Mario Hernandez | 2017 | International Journal of Digital Earth2017,10,4: | 0 |
| 7 | Space technology:A powerful tool for safeguarding world heritage显示文摘WORLD HERITAGE AND SPACE TECHNOLOGY The Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage(WHC),adopted by United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO)on November 16,1972,aims to ensure the identification, protection, conservation, presentation, and transmission to future generations of the world’s cultural and natural heritage. The WHC works toward these goals by emphasizing the Outstanding Universal Value(OUV)of heritage sites and the unique contribution such places can make to conservation and human development agendas.1 As of the end of January 2023,theWHC has been signed by 194 state parties, covering 1,157 sites(including 900 cultural,218 natural, and 39 mixed properties),55 of which are considered to be in danger. These sites, totaling an area of more than 370 million hectares are designated as World Heritage(WH)sites(https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/).WH sites have played a significant role in the sustainable development of society globally and helped effectively maintain and preserve the cultural diversity and global biodiversity of the Earth. | Lei Luo Jie Liu Francesca Cigna Damian Evans Mario Hernandez Deodato Tapete Peter Shadie Athos Agapiou Abdelaziz Elfadaly Min Chen Lanwei Zhu Bihong Fu Ruixia Yang Shahina Tariq Mohamed Ouessar Rosa Lasaponara Xinyuan Wang Huadong Guo | 2023 | The Innovation2023,4,3: | 0 |
| 8 | Computer vision based eyewear selector显示文摘The widespread availability of portable computing power and inexpensive digital cameras are opening up new possibilities for retailers in some markets. One example is in optical shops, where a number of systems exist that facilitate eyeglassess election. These systems are now more necessary as the market is saturated with an increasingly complex array of lenses, frames, coatings, tints, photochromic and polarizing treatments, etc. Research challenges encompass Computer Vision,Multimedia andHuman-Computer Interaction. Cost factors are also of importance for widespread product acceptance. This paper describes alow-cost system that allows the user to visualize different glasses models in live video. The user can also move the glasses toadjust its position on the face. The system, which runs at 9.5 frames/s on general-purpose hardware, has a homeostatic modulethat keeps image parameters controlled. This is achieved by using a camera with motorized zoom, iris, white balance, etc. Thisfeature can be specially useful in environments with changing illumination and shadows, like in an optical shop. The system alsoincludes a face and eye detection module and a glasses management module. | Oscar DéNIZ Modesto CASTRILLóN Javier LORENZO Luis ANTóN Mario HERNANDEZ Gloria BUENO | 2010 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science C(Computers and Electronics)2010,11,2: | 0 |
