| 1 | Cell–cell contact with proinflammatory macrophages enhances the immunotherapeutic effect of mesenchymal stem cells in two abortion models显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs),which are pluripotent cells with immunomodulatory properties,have been considered good candidates for the therapy of several immune disorders,such as inflammatory bowel diseases,concanavalin A-induced liver injury,and graft-versus-host disease.The embryo is a natural allograft to the maternal immune system.A successful pregnancy depends on the timely extinction of the inflammatory response induced by embryo implantation,followed by the switch to a tolerant immune microenvironment in both the uterus and the system.Excessive infiltration of immune cells and serious inflammatory responses are triggers for embryo rejection,which results in miscarriage.Here,we demonstrated that adoptive transfer of MSCs could prevent fetal loss in a lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced abortion model and immune response-mediated spontaneous abortion model.The immunosuppressive MSCs alleviated excessive inflammation by inhibiting CD4+T cell proliferation and promoting the decidual macrophage switch to M2 in a tumor necrosis factor-stimulated gene-6(TSG-6)-dependent manner.Cell-tocell contact with proinflammatory macrophages increased the TSG-6 production by the MSCs,thereby enhancing the suppressive regulation of T cells and macrophages.Moreover,proinflammatory macrophages in contact with the MSCs upregulated the expression of CD200 on the stem cells and facilitated the reprogramming of macrophages towards an anti-inflammatory skew through the interaction of CD200 with CD200R on proinflammatory macrophages.Therefore,the results demonstrate that a TSG-6-mediated paracrine effect,reinforced by cell-to-cell contact between MSCs and proinflammatory macrophages,is involved in the mechanism of MSC-mediated abortion relief through the induction of immune tolerance.Our study also indicates the potential application of MSCs in clinical recurrent miscarriages. | Yanhong Li Di Zhang Ling Xu Lin Dong Ji Zheng Yikong Lin Jiefang Huang Yanyun Zhang Yu Tao Xingxing Zang Dajin Li Meirong Du | 2019 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,12: | 23 |
| 2 | Oil-soluble ionic liquids as antiwear and extreme pressure additives in poly-α-olefin for steel/steel contacts显示文摘To enhance the lubricating and extreme pressure(EP) performance of base oils, two types of oil-soluble ionic liquids(ILs) with similar anion albeit dissimilar cations were synthesized. The physical properties of the prepared ILs were measured. The anticorrosion properties of ILs were assessed by conducting corrosion tests on steel discs and copper strips, which revealed the remarkable anticorrosion properties of the ILs in comparison with those of the commercial additive zinc dialkyldithiophosphate(ZDDP). The tribological properties of the two ILs as additives for poly-α-olefin-10(PAO10) with various mass concentrations were investigated. The tribological test results indicate that these ILs as additives are capable of reducing friction and wear of sliding contacts remarkably as well as enhance the EP performance of blank PAO10. Under similar test conditions, these IL additives exhibit higher lubricating and anti-wear(AW) performances than those of ZDDP based additive package in PAO10. Subsequently, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS) were conducted to study the lubricating mechanism of the two ILs. | 3 | SCM-198 protects endometrial stromal cells from oxidative damage through Bax/Bcl-2 and ERK signaling pathways显示文摘In creasi ng amounts of evidence dem on strated that accumulative reactive oxyge n species (ROS) and apoptosis of human endometrial stromal cells (ESCs) are closely associated with endometrial dysfunction induced by oxidative stress, which plays an important role in the pathological process of multiple gyn ecological and reproduction-related diseases. SCM-198, an alkaloid active component of Leonurus japonicas Houtt, has been reported to have anti-oxidative activity. However, the specific mechanisms of SCM-198 in the prevention of endometrial damage remain unknown. In the present study, we assessed the effect of SCM-198 on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2Hnduced oxidative injury in ESCs. ESCs were pretreated with SCM-198 for 4 h and then challenged with H2O2.Morphology ch a nges, apoptosis rate, and intracellular ROS producti on were measured to assess the level of oxidative injury. Flow cytometry and western blot analysis were performed to detect the expression levels of Bax, Bcl-2, active-caspase-3, and mitogen-activated protein kinases pathways. Classic inflammation cytokines were measured by real-time polymerase chain reactions. Our results showed that SCM-198 attenuated apoptosis and ROS generation of ESCs induced by H2O2. H2O2 induced the apparent apoptotic characteristics, including fragmentation of DNA, upregulation of Bax/Bcl2, activation of caspase-3, and secretion of inflammation cytokines, which were all ameliorated by SCM-198. Furthermore, H2O2-induced apoptosis-related ERK1/2 pathway activation was restrained by SCM-198 pretreatme nt. | 4 | Activation of Rev-erbα attenuates lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammatory reactions in human endometrial stroma cells via suppressing TLR4-regulated NF-κB activation显示文摘Perturbation of the circadian rhythm damages the biological characteristics of cells and leads to their dysfunction. Rev-erbα, an important gene in the transcription-translation loop of circadian rhythm, is involved in regulating the balance between pro-inflammation and anti-inflammation. The disruption of this balance in human endometrial stroma cells (hESCs) destroys their biological behavior function in maintaining the menstrual cycle and embryonic implantation. Whether pharmacological modulation of Rev-erbα affects the inflammation of hESCs remains unclear. In this study, we treated hESCs with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and found that LPS treatment increased the mRNA levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-18, and TNFα, and the secretion of IL-6. SR9009, a Rev-erbα agonist, significantly alleviated the LPS-induced production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in hESCs. Meanwhile, knockdown of Rev-erbα increased the expressions of IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8, accompanied by an increased mRNA level of the core clock gene Bmal1. Western blot analysis showed that SR9009 inhibited the expression of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and the activation of NF-κB induced by LPS. All these findings suggested that pharmacological activation of Rev-erbα attenuated the LPS-induced inflammatory response of hESCs by suppressing TLR4-regulated NF-κB activation. | 5 | Graphene oxide as an antimicrobial agent can extenCthe vase life of cut flowers显示文摘"PlantNanOmics" is an emerging topic in agricultural research that explores thepotential effect of application of nanomaterials on plant growth. Graphene oxide(GO) has excellent properties due to its basal carbon plane and oxygen-containingfunctional groups. In the present work, the antimicrobial activity of GO wasexploited to extend the vase life and improve the quality of cut roses (cv. Carola).The results revealed that the cut roses cultivated in low doses of GO (0.1 mg/L)had longer vase life, larger diameter, and better water relations. Microbialcontaminations at the basal stem end is the most common reason for stemblockage that causes water stress and early wilting of cut flowers. | 6 | IMF production and symmetry energy in heavy ion collisions near Fermi energy显示文摘The symmetry energy at the time of the production of intermediate mass fragments(IMFs) is studied using experimentally observed IMF multiplicities combined with quantum statistical model calculations(QSM of Hahn and St cker).The ratios of difference in chemical potentials between neutrons and protons relative to the temperature,(μn-μp)/T,and the double ratio temperature,T,were extracted experimentally in the reactions of64,70Zn,64Ni+58,64Ni,112,124Sn,197Au,232Th at 40A MeV.The extracted(μn-μp)/TTscales linearly with δNN,where δNN is the asymmetry parameter,(N-Z)/A,of the emitting source and(μn-μp)/T=(11.1 1.4)δNN0.21 was derived.The experimentally extracted(μn-μp)/T and the double ratio temperatures are compared with those from the QSM calculations.The temperatures-,T,and densities,ρ,extracted from the(μn-μp)/T values agreed with those from the double ratio thermometer which used the yield ratios of d,t,h and α particles.However the two analyses of the differential chemical potential analysis and the initial temperature analysis end up almost identical relation between T and ρ.T=5.25±0.75 MeV is evaluated from the(μn-μp)/Tanalysis,but no density determination was possible.From the extracted T value,the symmetry energy coefficient Esym =14.6±3.5 MeV is determined for the emitting source of T=5.25±0.75 MeV. | WADA Roy HUANG Meirong LIN Weiping LIU Xingquan ZHAO Minghui CHEN Zhiqiang | 2013 | Nuclear Science and Techniques2013,24,5: | 5 |
| 7 | A highly efficient Fe-doped Ni_(3)S_(2) electrocatalyst for overall water splitting显示文摘The development of efficient and stable electrocatalysts with earth-abundant elements for both oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)in the same electrolyte is incontrovertibly vital in water electrolysis.However,their large-scale fabrication remains a great challenge.Here,we report a self-supported electrocatalyst in the form of Fe-doped Ni_(3)S_(2) nanoparticles in-situ grown on three-dimensional(3D)conductive Fe−Ni alloy foam(Fe−Ni_(3)S_(2)/AF)by surface-assisted chemical vapor transport(SACVT)method.Homogeneous growth environment and scalability of SACVT method allow Fe−Ni3S2 nanoparticles uniformly growing on AF in large-scale.Fe−Ni_(3)S_(2)/AF exhibits high activity and durability when act as HER catalyst and OER precatalyst in alkaline media.The HER and OER overpotential at 10 mA/cm^(2) is considerably small,only 75 and 267 mV,respectively.Moreover,the electrolyzer assembled by Fe−Ni_(3)S_(2)/AF for overall water splitting exhibits a low cell voltage and high durability in long-term test.Based on experiments and theoretical calculation,the significantly enhanced activity could be originated from the incorporation of Fe,which contributed to increase the electrochemical active surface area,enhance electrical conductivity,optimize the hydrogen and H2O adsorption energy of Ni_(3)S_(2)(101)surface in HER,and form active bimetallic Ni−Fe(oxy)hydroxide in OER.The excellent durability of self-supported Fe−Ni_(3)S_(2)/AF could be benefited from the in-situ growth of Fe−Ni_(3)S_(2) nanoparticles on 3D AF,which could ensure closely mechanical adhesion between active materials and substrate,promote charge transport and increase surface area.This work provides a facile method for large-scale synthesis of electrocatalysts with high activity and long-term durability for efficient water electrolysis in alkaline media. | Min Wang Li Zhang Jialiang Pan Meirong Huang Hongwei Zhu | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,12: | 4 |

| 9 | Macrocyclic compound as ionophores in lead(Ⅱ) ion-selective electrodes with excellent response characteristics显示文摘Macrocyclic compounds,such as crown ethers,azacrown ethers,thiacrown ethers,calixarenes and porphyrins,which act as ionophores in lead(Ⅱ) ion-selective electrodes,are systematically summarized based on the latest literatures.The molecular structure characteristics of the ionophores are general-ized.The modification regulations for the substituted ionophores are elaborated with the purpose of improving the response features of the lead(Ⅱ) ion-selective electrodes assembled by them.It is pointed out that the introduction of pendant moieties which contain soft base coordination centers like N,S and P atoms is in favor of adjusting the cavity size and conformation of the macrocyclic com-pounds.Furthermore,there is synergic effect between the cavity and the donor sites of the ligand and thus the selective complexation of lead ions is easily realized,resulting in significant avoidance of the interference from other metal ions.The macrocyclic ionophore having the best response characteris-tics thus far was found to be N,N'-dimethylcyanodiaza-18-crown-6 with the detection limit of 7.0×10-8(14.5 μg/L),which is one of the uncommon ionophores that can really eliminate the interference from silver and mercury ions.The selectivity coefficients of the ionophore for lead ions over other metal ions,such as alkali,alkaline earth and transition metal ions are in the order of 10-4 or smaller,where the se-lectivity coefficient of lead(Ⅱ) over mercury(Ⅱ) ions is much lower,down to 8.9×10-4.The structure de-sign idea for high-performance ionophore is proposed according to present results.The incorporation of nitrogen atom,especially cyano group or thiocyano group or amino/imino groups,rather than thio atom alone could result in new excellent lead ionophores.The aborative design for metacyclophanes containing aromatic nitrogen atoms with the aim of creating excellent ionophores would also become a potential research trend.The lead(Ⅱ) ion-selective electrodes have shown widely potential applications in the potentiometric titration,and flow injection potentiometry,and in the direct determination of lead in stack emissions of lead smelters,and assay of lead in rocks,particularly in the direct measurements of trace amount of lead(Ⅱ) in human hair,blood,edible oil,food,water,and air. | HUANG MeiRong MA XiaoLi LI XinGui | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,21: | 3 |

| 20 | Short-term effects of organic amendments on soil fertility and root growth of rubber trees on Hainan Island, China显示文摘Rubber[Hevea brasiliensis(Willd.ex A.Juss.)Müll.Arg.]plantations are the largest cultivated forest type in tropical China.Returning organic materials to the soil will help to maintain the quality and growth of rubber trees.Although many studies have demonstrated that organic waste materials can be used to improve soil fertility and structure to promote root growth,few studies have studied the eff ects of organic amendments on soil fertility and root growth in rubber tree plantations.Here,bagasse,coconut husk or biochar were applied with a chemical fertilizer to test their eff ects on soil properties after 6 months and compared with the eff ects of only the chemical fertilizer.Results showed that the soil organic matter content,total nitrogen,available phosphorus and available potassium after the chemical fertilizer(F)treatment were all signifi cantly lower than after the chemical fertilizer+bagasse(Fba),chemical fertilizer+coconut husk(Fco)or chemical fertilizer+biochar(Fbi)(p<0.05).Soil pH in all organic amendments was higher than in the F treatment,but was only signifi cantly higher in the Fbi treatment.In contrast,soil bulk density in the F treatment was signifi cantly higher than in treatments with the organic amendments(p<0.05).When compared with the F treatment,soil root dry mass increased signifi-cantly by 190%,176%and 33%in Fba,Fco and Fbi treatments,respectively(p<0.05).Similar results were found for root activity,number of root tips,root length,root surface area and root volume.Conclusively,the application of bagasse,coconut husk and biochar increased soil fertility and promoted root growth of rubber trees in the short term.However,bagasse and coconut husk were more eff ective than biochar in improving root growth of rubber trees. | Yanyan Huang Yudan Jing Meirong Bei Hongzhu Yang Zhengzao Cha Qinghuo Lin Wei Luo | 2020 | Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,6: | 1 |
