2Photonic structures in radiative cooling显示文摘Radiative cooling is a passive cooling technology without any energy consumption,compared to conventional cooling technologies that require power sources and dump waste heat into the surroundings.For decades,many radiative cooling studies have been introduced but its applications are mostly restricted to nighttime use only.Recently,the emergence of photonic technologies to achieves daytime radiative cooling overcome the performance limitations.For example,broadband and selective emissions in mid-IR and high reflectance in the solar spectral range have already been demonstrated.This review article discusses the fundamentals of thermodynamic heat transfer that motivates radiative cooling.Several photonic structures such as multilayer,periodical,random;derived from nature,and associated design procedures were thoroughly discussed.Photonic integration with new functionality significantly enhances the effciency of radiative cooling technologies such as colored,transparent,and switchable radiative cooling applications has been developed.The commercial applications such as reducing cooling loads in vehicles,increasing the power generation of solar cells,generating electricity,saving water,and personal thermal regulation are also summarized.Lastly,perspectives on radiative cooling and emerging issues with potential solution strategies are discussed.Minjae Lee Gwansik Kim Yeongju Jung Kyung Rok Pyun Jinwoo Lee Byung-Wook Kim Seung Hwan Ko 2023Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,7:3

4Lithium plating-free 1 Ah-level high-voltage lithium-ion pouch battery via ambi-functional pentaerythritol disulfate显示文摘Elevating the charge cut-off voltage beyond traditional 4.2 V is a commonly accepted technology to increase the energy density of Li-ion batteries(LIBs) but the risk of Li-dendrites and fire hazard increases as well. The use of ambi-functional additive, which forms stable solid electrolyte interphase(SEI) simultaneously at both cathode and anode, is a key to enabling a dendrites-free and well-working high-voltage LIB. Herein, a novel ambi-functional additive, pentaerythritol disulfate(PEDS), at 1 wt% without any other additive is demonstrated. We show the feasibility and high impacts of PEDS in forming lithium sulfateincorporated robust SEI layers at NCM523 cathode and graphite anode in 1 Ah-level pouch cell under4.4 V, 25 °C and 0.1 C rate, which mitigates the high-voltage instability, metal-dissolution and cracks on NCM523 particles, and prevents Li-dendrites at graphite anode. 5Liquid-like adsorbent assembled by CNTs: Serving as renewable CO_(2) capture materials for indoor air显示文摘In this study,a CO_(2) capture material in the form of liquid-like adsorbents(LLAs) is developed to overcome the limitations of conventional types of adsorbents.The increase in indoor activities necessitates the capture of CO_(2) in enclosed indoor spaces.Indoor spaces require safe and stable materials for CO_(2) capture because humans are present in these spaces.Solid adsorbents are mainly used because liquid absorbents are unsuitable owing to noise and scattering problems.In LLA,the liquid absorbent assembled by carbon nanotubes(CNTs) is solidified and prevented from flowing and scattering indoor.LLAs present to maintain 95% of initial capacity after recycling 20 times,and have characteristics that can be regenerated in a low temperature heat source(80 to 120℃) and moisture resistance.This work not only provides indoor useable CO_(2) capture materials,but also offers a new prospect in the field of adsorbents.Jae Won Lee Minjae Kim Han Sol Jung Ronghuan Xu Seonggon Kim Yong Tae Kang 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,12:1

7Dimensionality-driven metal to Mott insulator transition in two-dimensional 1T-TaSe_(2)显示文摘Two-dimensional materials represent a major frontier for research into exotic many-body quantum phenomena.In the extreme two-dimensional limit,electron-electron interaction often dominates over other electronic energy scales,leading to strongly correlated effects such as quantum spin liquid and unconventional superconductivity.The dominance is conventionally attributed to the lack of electron screening in the third dimension.Here,we discover an intriguing metal to Mott insulator transition in 1T-TaSe_(2) that defies conventional wisdom.Specifically,we find that dimensionality crossover,instead of reduced screening,drives the transition in atomically thin 1T-TaSe_(2).A dispersive band crossing the Fermi level is found to be responsible for the bulk metallicity in the material.Reducing the dimensionality,however,effectively quenches the kinetic energy of these initially itinerant electrons,and drives the material into aMott insulating state.The dimensionality-driven metal to Mott insulator transition resolves the long-standing dichotomy between metallic bulk and insulating surface of 1T-TaSe_(2).Our work further reveals a new pathway for modulating two-dimensional materials that enables exploring strongly correlated systems across uncharted parameter space.Ning Tian Zhe Huang Bo Gyu Jang Shuaifei Guo Ya-Jun Yan Jingjing Gao Yijun Yu Jinwoong Hwang Cenyao Tang Meixiao Wang Xuan Luo Yu Ping Sun Zhongkai Liu Dong-Lai Feng Xianhui Chen Sung-Kwan Mo Minjae Kim Young-Woo Son Dawei Shen Wei Ruan Yuanbo Zhang 2024National Science Review2024,11,3:0
8Oxygen vacancy engineering for tuning the catalytic activity of LaCoO_(3) perovskite显示文摘Herein, we attempted to engineer oxygen vacancies on the surface of LaCoO_(3) perovskite through simple post-treatments(acid or reductive thermal treatments). Acid treatment induces oxygen vacancies through the selective etching of the La cations, whereas thermal treatment in a reducing atmosphere generates oxygen vacancies by directly removing lattice oxygen. The characterization results confirm that the number of surface oxygen vacancies, which are crucial in various catalytic oxidation reactions,considerably increases in the LaCoO_(3) catalysts treated with acid or reducing gas. Acid treatment enriches the oxygen vacancies while maintaining the structure of the LaCoO_(3) catalysts, which can not be achieved through reductive thermal treatment. Therefore, the acid treatment is considered a promising technique for oxygen vacancy engineering of perovskite catalysts for tuning their catalytic activities. Furthermore,the catalytic activities of the posttreated LaCoO_(3) catalysts for CO oxidation were evaluated and are noted to be considerably better than those of the pristine LaCoO_(3) catalyst due to their abundant oxygen vacancies. 9Different intraoperative decisions for undiagnosed paraganglioma:Two case reports显示文摘BACKGROUND Paragangliomas may be preoperatively misdiagnosed as non-functioning retroperitoneal tumors and are sometimes suspected only at the time of intraoperative manipulation.Without preoperative alpha blockade preparation,a hypertensive crisis during tumor manipulation and hypotension after tumor removal may result in critical consequences.Therefore,primary consideration should be given to the continuation or discontinuation of surgery on the basis of the possibility of gentle surgical manipulation and hemodynamic stabilization.We report two cases of paragangliomas detected intraoperatively.CASE SUMMARY A 65-year-woman underwent laparoscopic small-bowel wedge resection.A hypertensive crisis occurred during manipulation of the mass,and an unrecognized catecholamine-producing paraganglioma was suspected.The surgeon and anesthesiologists believed that tumor excision could be performed with minimal manipulation of the tumor because the tumor was in a favorable location.Serious hemodynamic instability did not occur with aggressive use of vasoactive drugs.A week later,a 54-year-man underwent open resection of a 3-cm-sized retroperitoneal mass and showed the same findings during mass manipulation.For this patient,continuous manipulation of the mass seemed inevitable due to adhesion between the right adrenal gland and the mass in a narrow surgical field.The surgeon and anesthesiologists decided to cancel the surgical procedure and planned to perform a reoperation after alpha blockade therapy.Two weeks later,the tumor was uneventfully removed with small doses of vasoactive drugs.CONCLUSION When an undiagnosed paraganglioma is suspected intraoperatively,reoperation after adequate preparation should be considered as an option to avoid fatal outcomes.Dongho Kang Bo-eun Kim Minjae Hong Joungmin Kim Seongtae Jeong Seongheon Lee 2022World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,30:0
