1Predicting the impacts of climate change on nonpoint source pollutant loads from agricultural small watershed using artificial neural network显示文摘This study described the development and validation of an artificial neural network (ANN) for the purpose of analyzing the effects of climate change on nonpoint source (NPS) pollutant loads from agricultural small watershed.The runoff discharge was estimated using ANN algorithm.The performance of ANN model was examined using observed data from study watershed.The simulation results agreed well with observed values during calibration and validation periods.NPS pollutant loads were calculated from load-discharge relationship driven by long-term monitoring data.LARS-WG (Long Ashton Research Station-Weather Generator) model was used to generate rainfall data.The calibrated ANN model and load-discharge relationship with the generated data from LARS-WG were applied to analyze the effects of climate change on NPS pollutant loads from the agricultural small watershed.The results showed that the ANN model provided valuable approach in estimating future runoff discharge,and the NPS pollutant loads.Eunjeong Lee Chounghyun Seong Hakkwan Kim Seungwoo Park Moonseong Kang 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,6:3

13Silver nanoislands on cellulose fibers for chromatographic separation and ultrasensitive detection of small molecules显示文摘High-throughput small-molecule assays play essential roles in biomedical diagnosis,drug discovery,environmental analysis,and physiological function research.Nanoplasmonics holds a great potential for the label-free detection of small molecules at extremely low concentrations.Here,we report the development of nanoplasmonic paper(NP-paper)for the rapid separation and ultrasensitive detection of mixed small molecules.NP-paper employs nanogap-rich silver nanoislands on cellulose fibers,which were simply fabricated at the wafer level by using low-temperature solid-state dewetting of a thin silver film.The nanoplasmonic detection allows for the scalable quantification and identification of small molecules over broad concentration ranges.Moreover,the combination of chromatographic separation and nanoplasmonic detection allows both the highly sensitive fluorescence detection of mixed small molecules at the attogram level and the label-free detection at the sub-nanogram level based on surface-enhanced Raman scattering.This novel material provides a new diagnostic platform for the high-throughput,low-cost,and label-free screening of mixed small molecules as an alternative to conventional paper chromatography.Hyukjin Jung Moonseong Park Minhee Kang Ki-Hun Jeong 2016Light(Science & Applications)2016,5,1:0
14Success Rate Queue-Based Relocation Algorithm of Sensory Network to Overcome Non-Uniformly Distributed Obstacles显示文摘With the recent development of big data technology that collects and analyzes various data,the technology that continuously collects and analyzes the observed data is also drawing attention.Moreover,its importance is growing in data collection in areas where people cannot access.In general,it is not easy to properly deploy IoT wireless devices for data collection in these areas,and it is also inappropriate to use general wheel-based mobile devices for relocation.Recently,researches have been actively carried out on hopping moving models in place of wheel-based movement for the inaccessible regions.The majority of studies,however,so far have unrealistic assumptions that all IoT devices know the overall state of the network and the current state of each device.Moreover,various physical terrain environments,such as coarse gravel and sand,can change from time to time,and it is impossible for all devices to recognize these changes in real-time.In this paper,with the migration success rate of IoT hopping devices being relocated,the method of estimating the varying environment is proposed.This method can actively reflect the changing environment in real-time and is a realistic distributed environment-based relocation protocol on behalf of non-realistic,theory-based relocation protocols.Also,one of the significant contributions of this paper is to evaluate its performance using the OMNeT++simulation tool for the first time in the world to reflect actual physical environmental conditions.Compared to previous studies,the proposed protocol was able to actively reflect the state of the surrounding environment,which resulted in improved migration success rates and higher energy efficiency.Sooyeon Park Moonseong Kim Woochan Lee 2020Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,11:0
15Novel Sensing Hole Recovery with Expanded Relay Node Capability显示文摘The occurrence of‘sensing holes’not only hinders seamless data col-lection but also leads to misinterpretation of information in certain areas under extensive data analysis.In order to overcome this,various sensor relocation stra-tegies have been proposed,but the existing relocation strategies revealed pro-blems such as the ping-pong,shaded area,network disconnection,etc.This paper conducted research on relocation protocols in a distributed environment that is very suitable for real-world situations and efficiently recovering the problem of sensing holes.First,a simulation was performed on the distribution of the shaded area for data collection,which is a problem with the existing representative relo-cation protocol.After that,a data collection capability was newly added to the relay node,which had been in charge of only communication between cluster zones so far,and with this additional functionality,the performance of the revised sensor relocation algorithm was dramatically improved to overcome the existing problems.In addition,the performance and validity of the proposed algorithm were verified through various simulations.Moonseong Kim Woochan Lee 2023Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023,44,1:0
16ROAD+:Route Optimization with Additional Destination-Information and Its Mobility Management in Mobile Networks显示文摘In the NEtwork MObility(NEMO) environment,mobile networks can form a nested structure.In nested mobile networks that use the NEMO Basic Support(NBS) protocol,pinball routing problems occur because packets are routed to all the home agents of the mobile routers using nested tunneling.In addition,the nodes in the same mobile networks can communicate with each other regardless of Internet connectivity.However,the nodes in some mobile networks that are based on NBS cannot communicate when the network is disconnected from the Internet.In this paper,we propose a route optimization scheme to solve these problems.We introduce a new IPv6 routing header named'destination-information header'(DH),which uses DH instead of routing header type 2 to optimize the route in the nested mobile network.The proposed scheme shows at least 30%better performance than ROTIO and similar performance improvement as DBU in inter-route optimization.With respect to intra-route optimization,the proposed scheme always uses the optimal routing path.In addition,the handover mechanism in ROAD+ outperforms existing schemes and is less sensitive to network size than other existing schemes.Moonseong Kim Matt W. 17Parallel Iterative FEM Solver with Initial Guess for Frequency Domain Electromagnetic Analysis显示文摘The finite element method is a key player in computational electromag-netics for designing RF(Radio Frequency)components such as waveguides.The frequency-domain analysis is fundamental to identify the characteristics of the components.For the conventional frequency-domain electromagnetic analysis using FEM(Finite Element Method),the system matrix is complex-numbered as well as indefinite.The iterative solvers can be faster than the direct solver when the solver convergence is guaranteed and done in a few steps.However,such complex-numbered and indefinite systems are hard to exploit the merit of the iterative solver.It is also hard to benefit from matrix factorization techniques due to varying system matrix parts according to frequency.Overall,it is hard to adopt conventional iterative solvers even though the system matrix is sparse.A new parallel iterative FEM solver for frequency domain analysis is implemented for inhomogeneous waveguide structures in this paper.In this implementation,the previous solution of the iterative solver of Matlab(Matrix Laboratory)employ-ing the preconditioner is used for the initial guess for the next step’s solution process.The overlapped parallel stage using Matlab’s Parallel Computing Toolbox is also proposed to alleviate the cold starting,which ruins the convergence of early steps in each parallel stage.Numerical experiments based on waveguide structures have demonstrated the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed scheme.Woochan Lee Woobin Park Jaeyoung Park Young-Joon Kim Moonseong Kim 2023Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,,5:0
18Hopping-Aware Cluster Header Capability for Sensor Relocation in Mobile IoT Networks显示文摘Mobile sensor nodes such as hopping sensors are of critical importance in data collection.However,the occurrence of sensing holes is unavoidable due to the energy limitation of the nodes.Thus,it is evident that the relocation of mobile sensors is the most desirable method to recover the sensing holes.The previous research conducted by the authors so far demonstrated the most realistic hopping sensor relocation scheme,which is suitable for the distributed environment.In previous studies,the cluster header plays an essential role in detecting the sensing hole and requesting the neighboring cluster to recover the sensing hole that occurred in the sensor node.However,the limitations of the cluster header in the previously proposed relocation protocol are not fully considered.Because the cluster header jumps more frequently than non-header nodes,its energy con-sumption is relatively high compared to other nodes.Therefore,it is most likely to lead to header node failure and can lead to data loss on the network.In this paper,the jumping ability and energy consumption of the cluster header are seriously considered.Additional ability to replace cluster headers in case of failure is also implemented.Simulation results show that the data collection time can be further increased,which demonstrates the validity of the proposed algorithms.Moonseong Kim Jaeyoung Park Young-Joon Kim Woochan Lee 2023Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,,5:0
19Association between donor corneal endothelial cell counts and infectious agent reactivity:an eye bank database analysis显示文摘Background:To evaluate the association between corneal central endothelial cell count(CECC)with reactivity for hepatitis B virus(HBV),hepatitis C virus(HCV),human immunodeficiency virus(HIV),human T-lymphotropic virus-1(HTLV1),and syphilis from an eye bank database.Methods:Eye bank data included 19,159 donors and 38,318 corneas screened for HBV,HCV,HIV,HTLV1,and syphilis from July 2007-May 2015.Linear and binary mixed effects models were used to determine the adjusted marginal effect a positive viral screening test had on CECC and morphology,respectively.The models were adjusted for age,race,gender,lens status,and death to preservation.Eyes with missing data were excluded from the analysis.Statistical significance was defined as P values<0.05.Results:A total of 18,097 donors and 35,136 corneas were included in the final analysis.Average CECC for eyes with negative viral screening was 2,597±436 while the average CECC for eyes screening positive for syphilis,HBV,HCV,HIV,and HTLV1 were 2,638±392(P=0.073),2,569±419(P=0.815),2,603±363(P=0.207),2,615±360(P=0.733),and 2,625±436(P=0.362)respectively.Conclusions:The presence of HBV,HCV,HIV,HTLV1,and syphilis display no association with a statistically significant difference in CECC when compared to normal non-diseased donors.Bella J.Wolf Ji Won Kwon Gabriel M.Rand Jimmy K.Lee Patrick K.Gore Moonseong Heo Roy S.Chuck 2019Annals of Eye Science2019,,1:0
