| 1 | Catalytic evaluation of promoted CeO_2-ZrO_2 by transition, alkali, and alkaline-earth metal oxides for diesel soot oxidation显示文摘Series of mixed metal oxides were synthesized by gel-combustion method and their catalytic activities for soot oxidation were investigated. The catalysts were M-Ce-Zr(M = Mn, Cu, Fe, K, Ba, Sr), and xK-20Mn-Ce-Zr(x = 0, 5, 10, 20), they were characterized by XRD, SEM, TPR and BET surface area techniques. The results of soot temperature programmed oxidation(TPO) in an O2 oxidizing atmosphere indicate that K-Ce-Zr has the highest catalytic activity for soot oxidation under loose contact condition, due to enhancement of the soot and catalyst contacts. On the other hand, under a tight contact condition, Mn-Ce-Zr and Cu-Ce-Zr nano-composites have high activities for soot oxidation and lower the soot TPO peak temperatures by about 280 and 270℃, respectively, as compared to non-catalytic soot oxidation. | 6 | Fabrication and mechanical properties of MWCNTs-reinforced aluminum composites by hot extrusion显示文摘Over the past decade,the interest in aluminum composites reinforced with carbon nanotubes has grown significantly.Studies have been carried out to overcome problems with uniform dispersion,interfacial bonding,void formation and carbide formation of the composites.In the present work,multi-wall carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) aluminum composites were produced.High-energy ball milling with the aim at developing well-dispersed MWCNTs Al composites was followed by cold compaction,sintering,and hot extrusion at 500 ℃.Different amounts of stearic acid as processing control agent(PCA) is used in order to minimize cold welding of the Al particles,and to produce finer particles.Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and X-ray diffraction(XRD) were employed to analyze the MWCNTs,the aluminum powder,and the composites' microstructural behavior.The hardness and tensile properties of the composites are also evaluated.The results showed 500% increase in yield stress after the addition of 1 wt% MWCNTs in Al-MWCNTs based composite.The ball-milling time of 4 h is found to be sufficient as excessive milling time destroys a vast number of MWCNTs. | Mortazavi Majid Majzoobi G.H. | 7 | Distinct element modelling of fracture plan control in continuum and jointed rock mass in presplitting method of surface mining显示文摘Controlled blasting techniques are used to control overbreak and to aid in the stability of the remaining rock formation. Presplitting is one of the most common methods which is used in many open pit mining and surface blast design. The purpose of presplitting is to form a fracture plane across which the radial cracks from the production blast cannot travel. The purpose of this study is to investigate of effect of presplitting on the generation of a smooth wall in continuum and jointed rock mass. The 2D distinct element code was used to simulate the presplitting in a rock slope. The blast load history as a function of time was applied to the inner wall of each blasthole. Important parameters that were considered in the analysis were stress tensor and fracturing pattern. | 8 | Oxidative coupling of methane over (Na_2WO_4+Mn or Ce)/SiO_2 catalysts:In situ measurement of electrical conductivity显示文摘The effects of manganese oxide or ceria promoters on the performance of Na2WO4/SiO2 catalysts for oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) are reported. The OCM reaction was performed in a continuous-flow microreactor at 800 ℃, atmospheric pressure and under GHSV = 13200 ml gC-1at h-1. Catalysts were characterized by in situ conductivity measurement, FT-IR spectroscopy, XRD, SEM and temperature programmed reduction analysis. Manganese oxide promoted Na2WO4/SiO2 is considered as one of the active and selective catalysts for OCM reaction. Ceria with high oxygen storage capacity is selected as a proper oxygen activator, providing a higher concentration of the oxy-anion species which is suitable for OCM reaction and compared with manganese oxide. Electrical conductivity of the catalysts was measured in OCM reaction under oxidizing atmosphere, i.e. in the absence of methane. It was found that the trimetallic catalysts, i.e. the catalysts having sodium, tungsten and Mn or Ce species, exhibited similar crystalline structures and morphologies, which lead to suitable bulk properties for the formation of an active and selective catalyst. However, tungsten had significant effect on the texture and redox properties of the catalysts. It was also shown that the crystalline structure of the bimetallic (Na+Mn or Ce)/SiO2 samples was quite different. This reveals that the metal oxides have significant effect on the extent of crystallization, taking place in the course of interaction of sodium with silica support. | 9 | Traditional and modern aspects of hemorrhoid treatment in Iran:a review显示文摘Hemorrhoidal disease is a prevalent anorectal condition which is generally not managed well with current pharmacologic interventions. However, in Iranian traditional medicine(ITM) there are numerous plants with hemorrhoid-healing properties. The present research assembled plants with hemorrhoidhealing properties in ITM; their related pharmacological effects, phytochemical constituents and mechanisms of action in the modern medicine were also gathered. For this purpose, leading ITM textbooks were searched for plants with hemorrhoid-healing effects. Further, in vitro, in vivo and clinical studies on the most cited species were considered using scientific databases. Studying ITM textbooks revealed37 medicinal plants with hemorrhoid-healing effects. Among the mentioned herbal medicines, six species, including Allium ampeloprasum, Phyllanthus emblica, Aloe vera, Terminalia chebula, Vitis vinifera and Commiphora mukul, had the largest number of related pharmacological effects documented in scientific databases. | 10 | Axial response and material efficiency of tapered helical piles显示文摘Different techniques have been proposed to increase the bearing capacity of open-ended piles.Welding helices to the shaft and tapering the pile shaft could be used simultaneously to enhance the static and dynamic behaviors of these piles.This paper subjects the bearing capacity,stiffness,frictional behavior,and material efficiency of the tapered helical piles to scrutiny.Tapered helical piles are introduced herein as an alternative option to improve the material efficiency of hollow piles.Based on the Taguchi method,a series of experiments was designed and conducted.The axial responses of tapered helical piles are also investigated using finite element analyses.The results derived from loadedisplacement curves and strain gages are used to characterize the axial compression responses of tapered helical piles.The effects of tapered angle,helices diameter and helices distance are examined using dimensionless parameters,and the degree of contribution of these factors is calculated on each of the enumerated variables individually.Experimental results show that the shaft friction resistance of tapered helical piles increases continuously with the pile head settlement.Furthermore,the effect of tapered wall on the shaft friction resistance is more tangible at low stress levels.The results showed that the relative material efficiency factor of the optimum pile could be 2.5 times that of unoptimized pile with a similar quantity of material. | Hamid Mortazavi Bak Amir M.Halabian Hamid Hashemolhosseini Mohammadali Rowshanzamir | 2021 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,1: | 3 |

| 12 | Effect of Low-Pressure Nitrogen DC Plasma Treatment on the Surface Properties of Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene, Poly (Methyl Methacrylate) and Polyvinyl Chloride Films显示文摘In this study, commercial biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) films were treated with nitrogen plasma over different exposure times in a Pyrex tube surrounded by a DC variable magnetic field. The chemical changes that appeared on the surface of the samples were investigated using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR- FTIR) spectroscopy after treatment for 2 min, 4 min and 6 min in a nitrogen plasma chamber. Effects of the plasma treatment on the surface topographies and contact angles of the untreated and plasma treated films were also analyzed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and a contact angle measuring system. The results show that the plasma treated films become more hydrophilic with an enhanced wettability due to the formation of some new polar groups on the surface of the treated films. Moreover, at higher exposure times, the total surface energy in all treated films increased while a reduction in contact angle occurred. | 13 | CoolClot,a novel hemostatic agent for controlling life-threatening arterial bleeding显示文摘BACKGROUND:Uncontrolled bleeding is the first leading cause of preventable death in the battlefield and the 2nd cause of mortality in civil accidents.Incompressible hemorrhage control is among the interventions that drastically increase the survival rate in wound individuals.We have previously shown that a certain mixture of bentonite and zeolite minerals can significantly decrease the bleeding in rats.METHODS:In this study,nine healthy hybrid dogs were selected and after induction of anesthesia with ether,either arterial puncture by a needle or arteriotomy was performed on both groin regions of the dogs.For control arteries(either the right or left femoral artery),only pressure by sterilized gauze was performed,while for the femoral arteries of the opposite side,our invented hemostatic agent,namely CoolClot,was topically used before applying the pressure.In the second stage of the study,to assess the coagulation time,blood samples were collected from 10 volunteer students.RESULTS:CoolClot significantly decreased the bleeding time in animals whose femoral arteries were cut or punctured.In the human phase of the study,the mean coagulation time in control blood samples was 253.4+44.1 seconds,whereas it was 149.5+50.0,162.3±74.6 and 143.4±114.6seconds,respectively in blood samples treated with bentonite,zeolite and CoolClot(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS:As controlling bleeding after a life-threatening arterial damage is critical for increasing the chance of survival,the results obtained in this study indicate the significant efficacy of CoolClot in shortening the bleeding time.Our experiments also indicate that CoolClot can significantly reduce the clotting time in human blood samples. | SMJ Mortazavi A Tavasoli M Atefi N Tanide N Radpey P Roshan-shomal H Moradi S Taeb | 2013 | World Journal of Emergency Medicine2013,4,2: | 2 |
| 14 | Thermal bridging of graphene nanosheets via covalent molecular junctions: A non-equilibrium Green's functions-density functional tightbinding study显示文摘Despite the uniquely high thermal conductivity of graphene is well known,the exploitation of graphene into thermally conductive nanomaterials and devices is limited by the inefficiency of thermal contacts between the individual nanosheets.A fascinating yet experimentally challenging route to enhance thermal conductance at contacts between graphene nanosheets is through molecular junctions,allowing covalently connecting nanosheets,otherwise interacting only via weak Van der Waals forces.Beside the bare existence of covalent connections,the choice of molecular structures to be used as thermal junctions should be guided by their vibrational properties,in terms of phonon transfer through the molecular junction.In this paper,density functional tight-binding combined with Green's functions formalism was applied for the calculation of thermal conductance and phonon spectra of several different aliphatic and aromatic molecular junctions between graphene nanosheets.Effects of molecular junction length,conformation,and aromaticity were studied in detail and correlated with phonon tunnelling spectra.The theoretical insight provided by this work can guide future experimental studies to select suitable molecular junctions,in order to enhance the thermal transport by suppressing the interfacial thermal resistances.This is attractive for various systems,including graphene nanopapers and graphene polymer nanocomposites,as well as related devices.In a broader view,the possibility to design molecular junctions to control phonon transport currently appears as an efficient way to produce phononic devices and controlling heat management in nanostructures. | Diego Martinez Gutierrez Alessa ndro Di Pierro Alessa ndro Pecchia Leon ardo Medra no San donas Rafael Gutierrez Mar Bernal Bohayra Mortazavi Gianaurelio Cuniberti Guido Saracco Alberto Fina | 2019 | Nano Research2019,12,4: | 2 |
| 15 | Computational analysis of the flow of pseudoplastic power-law fluids in a microchannel plate显示文摘The flow of pseudoplastic power-law fluids with different flow indexes at a microchannel plate was studied using computational fluid dynamic simulation.The velocity distribution along the microchannel plate and especially in the microchannel slits,flow pattern along the outlet arc and the pressure drop through the whole of microchannel plate were investigated at different power-law flow indexes.The results showed that the velocity profile in the microchannel slits for low flow index fluids was similar to the plug flow and had uniform pattern.Also the power-law fluids with lower flow indexes had lower stagnation zones near the outlet of the microchannel plate.The pressure drop through the microchannel plate showed huge differences between the fluids.The most interesting result was that the pressure drops for power-law fluids were very smaller than that of Newtonian fluids.In addition,the heat transfer of the fluids through the microchannel with different channel numbers in a wide range of Reynolds number was investigated.For power-law fluid with flow index(n=0.4),the Nusselt number increases continuously as the number of channels increases.The results highlight the potential use of using pseudoplastic fluids in the microheat exchangers which can lower the pressure drop and increase the heat transfer efficiency. | Saeed Mortazavi | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2017,25,10: | 2 |
| 16 | Effect of heat input on microstructure and mechanical properties of dissimilar joints of AISI 316L steel and API X70 high-strength low-alloy steel显示文摘The microstructure and mechanical properties of dissimilar joints of AISI 316L austenitic stainless steel and API X70 high-strength low-alloy steel were investigated.For this purpose,gas tungsten arc welding(GTAW)was used in three different heat inputs,including 0.73,0.84,and 0.97 kJ/mm.The microstructural investigations of different zones including base metals,weld metal,heat-affected zones and interfaces were performed by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.The mechanical properties were measured by microhardness,tensile and impact tests.It was found that with increasing heat input,the dendrite size and inter-dendritic spacing in the weld metal increased.Also,the amount of delta ferrite in the weld metal was reduced.Therefore,tensile strength and hardness were reduced and impact test energy was increased.The investigation of the interface between AISI 316L base metal and ER316L filler metal showed that increasing the heat input increases the size of austenite grains in the fusion boundary.A transition region was formed at the interface between API X70 steel and filler metals. | Ebrahim Mortazavi Reza Amini Najafabadi Amirhossein Meysami | 2017 | Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2017,24,12: | 2 |
