| 1 | Effectiveness of an intervention for reducing social stigma towards mental illness in adolescents显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention for reducing social stigma towards mental illness in adolescents. The effect of gender and knowledge of someone with mental illness was measured. METHODS: Two hundred and eighty secondary school students were evaluated using the Community Attitudes towards Mental Illness(CAMI) questionnaire. The schools were randomized and some received the intervention and others acted as the control group. The programme consisted of providing information via a documentary film and of contact with healthcare staff in order to reduce the social stigma within the school environment. RESULTS: The intervention was effective in reducing the CAMI authoritarianism and social restrictiveness subscales. The intervention showed significant changes in girls in terms of authoritarianism and social restrictiveness, while boys only showed significant changes in authoritarianism. Following the intervention, a significant reduction was found in authoritarianism and social restrictiveness in those who knew someone with mental illness, and only in authoritarianism in those who did not know anyone with mental illness. CONCLUSION: The intervention was effective to reduce social stigma towards people with mental illness, especially in the area of authoritarianism. | 3 | 金龟子绿僵菌分生孢子暴露在B段紫外光下毒力的降低显示文摘The UV-A and UV-B wavelengths of solar radiation may seriously reduce viability of Metarhizium anisopliae conidia,a fungus used extensively in Brazil for insect pest control.The conidial tolerances to UV-A and UV-B radiation were studied for one isolate(IBCB 425) commercially available product produced on rice grains.Aqueous or oil emulsion conidial suspensions were irradiated for 0(control),2,or 3 h using the solar simulator filtered with diacetate filter to remove UV-C radiation which afforded 652 mW·m-2 in the spectral range of 280~370 nm.The UV tolerance was based on conidial germination(viability) and virulence to Diatraea saccharalis larvae.Conidia formulated with oil emulsion had higher survival after 3 h of UV exposure,but the virulence of the conidia previously exposed to 2 h of UV radiation were similar when oil formulated or not.The mortality of D.saccharalis caterpillars exposed to non-UV-irradiated conidia was greater than that of larvae exposed to irradiated conidia,and the LT50 values were lower for the non-irradiated suspensions than for those irradiated.This apparent reduction in virulence was directly related reduction in viability or delay of germination of UV-irradiated conidia. | Edimara A Francisco Drauzio E N Rangel Newton La Scala Jr José C Barbosa Antnia do C B Correia | 2008 | 安徽农业大学学报2008，35，2： | 2 |
| 4 | Development of hepatorenal syndrome in bile duct ligated rats显示文摘AIM: To evaluate in bile duct ligated rats whether there were progressive alterations of renal function without changes in histopathology. METHODS: Male Wistar rats were submitted to sham-surgery or bile duct ligation (BDL) and divided according to the post-procedure time (2, 4 and 6-wk). To determine renal function parameters, rats wereplaced in metabolic cages and, at the end of the experiment, blood and urine samples were obtained. Histology and hydroxyproline content were analyzed in liver and renal tissue. RESULTS: Rats with 2 wk of BDL increased free water clearance (P = 0.02), reduced urinary osmolality (P = 0.03) and serum creatinine (P = 0.01) in comparison to the sham group. In contrast, rats at 6 wk of BDL showed features of HRS, including signif icant increase in serum creatinine and reductions in creatinine clearance, water excretion and urinary sodium concentration. Rats with 4 wk of BDL exhibited an intermediate stage of renal dysfunction. Progressive hepatic f ibrosis according to post-procedure time was confirmed by histology. The increased levels of liver hydroxyproline contrasted with the absence of structural changes in the kidney, as assessed by histology and unchanged hydroxyproline content in renal tissue. CONCLUSION: Our data show that BDL produced progressive renal dysfunction without structural changes in the kidney, characterizing HRS.
