| 1 | Crosstalk between gut microbiota and antidiabetic drug action显示文摘Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a disorder characterized by chronic inflated blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia), at first due to insulin resistance and unregulated insulin secretion but with tendency towards global spreading. The gut microbiota is recognized to have an influence on T2D, although surveys have not formed a clear overview to date. Because of the interactions between gut microbiota and host homeostasis, intestinal bacteria are believed to play a large role in various diseases, including metabolic syndrome, obesity and associated disease. In this review, we highlight the animal and human studies which have elucidated the roles of metformin,α-glucosidase inhibitors, glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors γ agonists, inhibitors of dipeptidyl peptidase-4, sodium/glucose cotransporter inhibitors, and other less studied medications on gut microbiota. This review is dedicated to one of the most widespread diseases, T2D, and the currently used antidiabetic drugs and most promising new findings. In general, the gut microbiota has been shown to have an influence on host metabolism, food consumption, satiety, glucose homoeostasis, and weight gain. Altered intestinal microbiota composition has been noticed in cardiovascular diseases, colon cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, T2D, and obesity. | 2 | 冷荒漠草本植物数量特征对不同水分输入和气象因子的响应显示文摘草本层是古尔班通古特沙漠植被的重要组成部分,在维持沙漠稳定、养分循环等方面具有重要意义。水分通常以积雪和降雨形式输入到土壤,输入方式及数量变化对荒漠植物的存活和生长有重要影响。本文以古尔班通古特沙漠南缘草本层为研究对象,利用人工增减积雪的方法,共设置4个积雪处理(0,50%,100%,200%积雪,其中100%积雪为对照),于2009-2016年春季调查草本植物的数量特征和物种丰富度,分析草本植物数量特征对水分变化的响应;同时结合气象数据,分析不同年份一年生荒漠草本植物数量特征与主要气象因子的关系。结果表明:表层土壤含水量与积雪厚度成正比,相应的草本植物的幼苗密度与积雪水当量、表层土壤含水量成正比关系;2009-2016年,年内积雪量的变化对物种丰富度没有显著影响,各积雪处理间物种丰富度差异不显著;2009-2016年自然处理下年际间物种丰富度差异显著,2015年物种丰富度显著小于其余年份。结合气象数据分析发现,物种丰富度年际变化主要受幼苗建成期的降雨调控,并且干旱年份过后的湿润年份物种丰富度不受前一年降水的影响,说明荒漠草本植物层片具有较强的自我调节能力;自然处理下,不同年份草本植物旺盛期的存活数量与大气干旱程度(空气饱和差)呈显著负相关关系(R^2值为0.611,P<0.05),与生长季的降雨量呈正相关关系(R^2值为0.162,P>0.05),说明大气干旱程度更能表征荒漠草本植物生长峰值期的存活情况。 | 范连连 李耀明 Nataliia Terekhina 马学喜 马杰 | 2019 | 干旱区研究2019,36,1: | 6 |
| 3 | Effect of CeO_2 and Al_2O_3 on the activity of Pd/Co_3O_4/cordierite catalyst in the three-way catalysis reactions(CO/NO/C_nH_m)显示文摘The present article studies the effect of CeO2 and Al2O3 on the activity of Pd/Co3O4/cordierite catalyst in conversion of NO, CO, CnHm. The catalysts were characterized by temperature programmed reduction with hydrogen, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It is shown that the effect of CeO2 on the properties of Pd/Co3O4/cordierite catalyst depends on preparation method. The catalyst obtained by co-deposition of cerium and cobalt oxides has higher activity in CO oxidation (CO + O2 and CO + NO) and total hexane oxidation (C6H14 + O2). Such phenomenon is probably caused by more than stoichiometric amount of formed oxygen vacancies, an increase in both mobility of surface oxygen and dispersity of components in the catalytic composition. It is demonstrated that CeO2 addition promotes the SO2 resistance of Pd/Co3O4/cordierite. | 4 | TOLs Function as Ubiquitin Receptors in the Early Steps of the ESCRT Pathway in Higher Plants显示文摘Protein abundance and localization at the plasma membrane(PM)shapes plant development and mediates adaptation to changing environmental conditions.It is regulated by ubiquitination,a post-translational modification crucial for the proper sorting of endocytosed PM proteins to the vacuole for subsequent degradation.To understand the significance and the variety of roles played by this reversible modification,the function of ubiquitin receptors,which translate the ubiquitin signature into a cellular response,needs to be elucidated.In this study,we show that TOL(TOM1-like)proteins function in plants as multivalent ubiquitin receptors,governing ubiquitinated cargo delivery to the vacuole via the conserved Endosomal Sorting Complex Required for Transport(ESCRT)pathway.TOL2 and TOL6 interact with components of the ESCRT machinery and bind to K63-linked ubiquitin via two tandemly arranged conserved ubiquitin-binding domains.Mutation of these domains results not only in a loss of ubiquitin binding but also altered localization,abolishing TOL6 ubiquitin receptor activity.Function and localization of TOL6 is itself regulated by ubiquitination,whereby TOL6 ubiquitination potentially modulates degradation of PM-localized cargoes,assisting in the fine-tuning of the delicate interplay between protein recycling and downregulation.Taken together,our findings demonstrate the function and regulation of a ubiquitin receptor that mediates vacuolar degradation of PM proteins in higher plants. | Jeanette Moulinier-Anzola Maximilian Schwihla Lucinda De-Araujo Christina Artner Lisa Jorg Nataliia Konstantinova Christian Luschnig Barbara Korbei | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,5: | 3 |
| 5 | A workflow for Sustainable Development Goals indicators assessment based on high-resolution satellite data显示文摘For evaluating the progresses towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs),a global indicator framework was developed by the UN Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goals Indicators.In this paper,we propose an improved methodology and a set of workflows for calculating SDGs indicators.The main improvements consist of using moderate and high spatial resolution satellite data and state-of-the-art deep learning methodology for land cover classification and for assessing land productivity.Within the European Network for Observing our Changing Planet(ERA-PLANET),three SDGs indicators are calculated.In this research,harmonized Landsat and Sentinel-2 data are analyzed and used for land productivity analysis and yield assessment,as well as Landsat 8,Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 time series are utilized for crop mapping.We calculate for the whole territory of Ukraine SDG indicators:15.1.1–‘Forest area as proportion of total land area’;15.3.1–‘Proportion of land that is degraded over total land area’;and 2.4.1–‘Proportion of agricultural area under productive and sustainable agriculture’.Workflows for calculating these indicators were implemented in a Virtual Laboratory Platform.We conclude that newly available high-resolution remote sensing products can significantly improve our capacity to assess several SDGs indicators through dedicated workflows. | Nataliia Kussul Mykola Lavreniuk Andrii Kolotii Sergii Skakun Olena Rakoid Leonid Shumilo | 2020 | International Journal of Digital Earth2020,13,2: | 3 |

| 7 | WJSC 6^(th) Anniversary Special Issues(2):Mesenchymal stem cells Mesenchymal stem cells in treating autism:Novel insights显示文摘Autism spectrum disorders(ASDs)are complex neurodevelopmental disorders characterized by dysfunctions in social interactions,abnormal to absent verbal communication,restricted interests,and repetitive stereotypic verbal and non-verbal behaviors,influencing the ability to relate to and communicate.The core symptoms of ASDs concern the cognitive,emotional,and neurobehavioural domains.The prevalence of autism appears to be increasing at an alarming rate,yet there is a lack of effective and definitive pharmacological options.This has created an increased sense of urgency,and the need to identify novel therapies.Given the growing awareness of immune dysregulation in a significant portion of the autistic population,cell therapies have been proposed and applied to ASDs.In particular,mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)possess the immunological properties which make them promising candidates in regenerative medicine.MSC therapy may be applicable to several diseases associated with inflammation and tissue damage,where subsequent regeneration and repair is necessary.MSCs could exert a positive effect in ASDs through the following mechanisms:stimulation of repair in the damaged tissue,e.g.,inflammatory bowel disease;synthesizing and releasing anti-inflammatory cytokines and survival-promoting growth factors;integrating into existing neural and synaptic network,and restoring plasticity.The paracrine mechanisms of MSCs show interesting potential in ASD treatment.Promising and impressive results have been reported from the few clinical studies published to date,although the exact mechanisms of action of MSCs in ASDs to restore functions are still largely unknown.The potential role of MSCs in mediating ASD recovery is discussed in light of the newest findings from recent clinical studies. | Dario Siniscalco James Jeffrey Bradstreet Nataliia Sych Nicola Antonucci | 2014 | World Journal of Stem Cells2014,6,2: | 1 |
| 8 | An Ensemble Methods for Medical Insurance Costs Prediction Task显示文摘The paper reports three new ensembles of supervised learning predictors for managing medical insurance costs.The open dataset is used for data analysis methods development.The usage of artificial intelligence in the management of financial risks will facilitate economic wear time and money and protect patients’health.Machine learning is associated withmany expectations,but its quality is determined by choosing a good algorithm and the proper steps to plan,develop,and implement the model.The paper aims to develop three new ensembles for individual insurance costs prediction to provide high prediction accuracy.Pierson coefficient and Boruta algorithm are used for feature selection.The boosting,stacking,and bagging ensembles are built.A comparison with existing machine learning algorithms is given.Boosting modes based on regression tree and stochastic gradient descent is built.Bagged CART and Random Forest algorithms are proposed.The boosting and stacking ensembles shown better accuracy than bagging.The tuning parameters for boosting do not allow to decrease the RMSE too.So,bagging shows its weakness in generalizing the prediction.The stacking is developed using K Nearest Neighbors(KNN),Support Vector Machine(SVM),Regression Tree,Linear Regression,Stochastic Gradient Boosting.The random forest(RF)algorithm is used to combine the predictions.One hundred trees are built forRF.RootMean Square Error(RMSE)has lifted the to 3173.213 in comparison with other predictors.The quality of the developed ensemble for RootMean Squared Error metric is 1.47 better than for the best weak predictor(SVR). | Nataliya Shakhovska Nataliia Melnykova Valentyna Chopiyak Michal Gregus ml | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,2: | 1 |
| 9 | Effect of a specific Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 strain on minimal/mild hepatic encephalopathy treatment显示文摘BACKGROUND Hepatic encephalopathy(HE)can be considered a result of dysregulated gutliver-brain axis function,where cognitive impairment can be reversed or prevented by the beneficial effects induced by'gut-centric'therapies,such as the administration of nonabsorbable disaccharides,nonabsorbable antibiotics,probiotics and prebiotics.AIM To assess the short-term efficacy and safety of the probiotic Escherichia coli Nissle(EcN)1917 strain compared to lactulose and rifaximin in patients with minimal/mild HE.METHODS From January 2017 to March 2020,a total of 45 patients with HE were enrolled in this prospective,single-centre,open-label,randomized study.Participants were randomly assigned at a ratio of 1:1:1 to one of the treatment groups:The EcN group(n=15),lactulose group(n=15)or rifaximin group(n=15)for a 1 mo intervention period.The main primary outcomes of the study were changes in serum ammonia and Stroop test score.The secondary outcomes were markers of a chronic systemic inflammatory response(ІL-6,ІL-8,and IFN-γ)and bacteriology of the stool flora evaluated by specialized nonculture techniques after a 1 mo intervention period.RESULTS Patients who were given rifaximin or EcN showed a more significant reduction in serum ammonia and normalization of Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli abundance compared to the lactulose group.However,the most pronounced restoration of the symbiotic microflora was associated with EcN administration and characterized by the absence of E.coli with altered properties and pathogenic enterobacteria in patient faeces.In the primary outcome analysis,improvements in the Stroop test parameters in all intervention groups were observed.Moreover,EcN-treated patients performed 15%faster on the Stroop test than the lactulose group patients(P=0.017).Both EcN and rifaximin produced similar significant reductions in the proinflammatory cytokines INF-γ,IL-6 and IL-8.EcN was more efficient than lactulose in reducing proinflammatory cytokine levels.CONCLUSION The use of the probiotic EcN strain was safe and quite efficient for HE treatment.The probiotic reduced the ammonia content and the level of serum proinflammatory cytokines,normalized the gut microbiota composition and improved the cognitive function of patients with HE.The application of the EcN strain was more effective than lactulose treatment. | Elina Manzhalii Valentyna Moyseyenko Vitalii Kondratiuk Nataliia Molochek Tetyana Falalyeyeva Nazarii Kobyliak | 2022 | World Journal of Hepatology2022,14,3: | 1 |

| 13 | Preliminary experimental study on applicability of Lorentz force velocimetry in an external magnetic field显示文摘Lorentz force velocimetry(LFV) is a noncontact technique for measuring electrically conducting fluids based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. This work aims to answer the open and essential question of whether LFV can work properly under a surrounding external magnetic field(ExMF). Two types of Ex MFs with different magnetic intensities were examined: a magnetic field with a typical order of 0.4 T generated by a permanent magnet(PM) and another generated by an electromagnet(EM) on the order of 2 T. Two forces, including the magnetostatic force between the Ex MF and PM in the LFV, and the Lorentz force generated by the PM in LFV were measured and analyzed in the experiment. In addition,Ex MFs of varying strengths were added to the LFV, and the location of the LFV device in the iron cores of the EM was considered. The experimental outcomes demonstrate that it is possible for a LFV device to operate normally under a moderate Ex MF. | 16 | Analysis of the displacements of pipeline overpasses based on geodetic monitoring results显示文摘There are many approaches to address geospatial monitoring of pipeline overpasses,among which the most widespread methods are terrestrial laser scanning and total station measurements.However,there is a problem in comparing the geospatial monitoring data collected by different methods in different epochs.The main task of this work is to find the correspondence between points in different epochs.The total station measurements are carried out in specific discrete points of the pipeline overpass.In contrast,terrestrial laser scanning allows the collection of the whole data set without fixing specific point co-ordinates.In order to compare different data in different epochs,it is necessary to select a relevant presentation of the monitoring results(reference model)and specify appropriate criteria for quality inspection.In general,a pipeline can be presented as a spatial curve.In this study,two types of reference models are considered:cubic splines and Bezier curves.These models are examined for the monitoring of two gas pipeline overpasses.The first measurement epoch is accomplished by the terrestrial laser scanning,and the second measurement epoch is completed by the total station.The reference models are simulated by Matlab coding.The preliminary accuracy of ground laser scanning and total station mea-surement is selected as the criterion of quality inspection.The simulation and comparison results provide the evidence that the correct selection of reference model is a crucial component of successful geospatial monitoring.The results show that the Hermite splines are effective in the comparison of different data sets.These splines present the interpolation accuracy compatible with measurement accuracy,i.e.,15-20 mm for spatial displacement determination. | Roman Shults Andriy Annenkov Gulnur Seitkazina Saule Soltabayeva Zhenis Kozhayev Andrii Khailak Kira Nikitenko Bohdan Sossa Nataliia Kulichenko | 2022 | Geodesy and Geodynamics2022,13,1: | 0 |
