1A design study on the CSNS LEBT pre-chopper显示文摘The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) front end incorporates a pre-chopper in the Low Energy Beam Transport line (LEBT) that will remove a 530 ns section of beam at approximately 1 MHz rate, which is the RF frequency of the ring at injection. It's one of the most critical devices for properly controlling the injecting beam loss. Physical designing of the pre-chopper is carried out, and the RFQ itself is used as the beam dump of the chopper system. In order to examine the reliability of the pre-chopper design, the beam study of a similar chopper system is successfully performed. 2Operation of the CSNS Penning surface H^- ion source显示文摘The accelerator complex of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) consists of a H- linear accelerator (linac) and a rapid cycling synchrotron (RCS). The linac contains a Penning surface H- ion source. The designed energy and the beam current of the source are 50 keV and 20 mA respectively, with a normalized root mean square (norm. rms.) emittance of 0.2π mm mrad. The manufactures and tests of the discharge chamber are in great progress. The construction of H- ion source test stand has been completed, and the operation of the source is also in progress. Stable H- ion beams with energy of 50 keV and current up to 50 mA are attained. 3RF tuning and beam commissioning of CW RFQ for China-ADS Injector-I显示文摘A 325-MHz continuous-wave(CW) four-vane radiofrequency quadrupole(RFQ) is employed in Injector-I of the China Accelerator-Driven Subcritical System. The radiofrequency tuning and beam commissioning were performed from January 2014 to January 2017. In a cold test, a stability study showed that the design of the segmented resonantly coupling and dipole stabilizer rods can shift the harmful quadrupole and dipole mode from the fundamental mode to above 2.6 MHz. We also found a simplified tuning method for the field unflatness, involving changing the inserted length of a few plug tuners. For achieving CW-beam commissioning, two full-size RFQs were constructed successively. The commissioning results indicate that the beam transmission rate decreased by approximately 3% as the normalized field unflatness decreased by 1%. A 10-MeV CW proton beam with an average beam current of 2.1 m A was achieved at the target of Injector-I, and the output beam energy of the RFQ was3.18 MeV.Hua Shi Huafu Ouyang Shengchang Wang Ningchuang Zhou Gang Wu 2018Nuclear Science and Techniques2018,29,10:0
