1Evaluation of anti-resistant activity of Auklandia(Saussurea lappa) root against some human pathogens显示文摘Objective:The antimicrobial activity of the ethanol extract of the Auklandia(Saussurea lappa)root plant was investigated to verify its medicinal use in the treatment of microbial infections.Methods:The antimicrobial activity of the ethanol extract was tested against clinical isolates ofsome multidrug-resistant bacteria using the agar well diffusion method.Commercial antibioticswere used as positive reference standards to determine the sensitivity of the clinical isolates.Results:The extracts showed significant inhibitory activity against clinical isolates of methicillinresistantStaphylococcus aureus,Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumonia,Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactemase,Acinetobacter baumannii.The minimum inhibitory concentration values obtained using the agar dilution test ranged from 2.0μg/μL-12.0μg/μL.In the contrary the water extract showed no activity at all against the tested isolates.Furthermore,theresults obtained by examining anti-resistant activity of the plant ethanolic extract showed thatat higher concentration of the plant extract(12μg)all tested bacteria isolates were inhibited with variable inhibition zones similar to those obtained when we applied lower extract concentrationusing the well diffusion assay.Conclusion:The results demonstrated that the crude ethanolicextract of the Auklandia(Saussurea lappa)root plant has a wide spectrum of activity suggestingthat it may be useful in the treatment of infections caused by the above clinical isolates(humanpathogens).Sidgi Syed Anwer Hasson Mohammed Saeed Al-Balushi KhazinaAlharthy JumaZaidAl-Busaidi MunaSulimanAldaihani Mohammed Shafeeq Othman Elias Antony Said Omar Habal Talal Abdullah Sallam Ali Abdullah Aljabri Mohamed AhmedIdris 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,7:2

5Changes in corneal biomechanics and intraocular pressure following Femto-LASIK using Goldman applanation tonometry and ocular response analyzer显示文摘AIM:To compare intraocular pressure(IOP)measurements before and after laser in situ keratomileusis(LASIK)with a femtosecond laser for flap creation using ocular response analyzer(ORA)and Goldmann applanation tonometry,and to identify factors that may influence the preoperative and postoperative IOP.METHODS:A prospective study conducted on myopic patients who underwent LASIK using a femtosecond laser for flap fashioning.Enrolled patients were evaluated preoperatively,6 wk and 3 mo postoperatively for manifest refraction(MR),keratometric(K)readings and central corneal thickness(CCT)using a scheimpflug-based topography.Corneal resistance factor(CRF),corneal hysteresis(CH),Goldmann correlated IOP(IOPg)and corneal compensated IOP(IOPcc)were measured using ORA besides IOP assessment by Goldman applanation tonometry(GAT).RESULTS:There was a statistically significant decrease in measures of IOPg by 3.35±0.83 mm Hg,followed by GAT which decreased by 2.2±0.44 mm Hg,and the least affected by operation was IOPcc which decreased only by 0.87±0.1 mm Hg after 6 wk.After 3 mo follow up there was a statistically significant decrease in IOPcc which decreased only by 0.76±0.4 mm Hg,followed by IOP GAT by 1.6±0.5 mm Hg,and the most affected by operation was IOPg which decreased by 2.3±0.3 mm Hg.Correspondingly,there was a statistically significant decrease in CH and CRF after 6 wk and 3 mo.At 3 mo,the preoperative MR and preoperative GAT were prominent significant predictors of the postoperative GAT changes.The prediction equation was subsumed.CONCLUSION:IOP measurements and corneal biomechanical factors reduce significantly after LASIK with a femtosecond laser for flap creation.The IOPcc values are less influenced by changes in corneal properties than IOPg and GAT,indicating that IOPcc may provide the most reliable measurement of IOP after this procedure.Ahmed Yassin Hemida Omar M Said Asser A.E.Abdel-Meguid Mohammed Iqbal Amani E Badawi 2020International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2020,13,5:1

12Safety and efficacy of posterior sub-Tenon's carboplatin injection versus intravitreal melphalan therapy in the management of retinoblastoma with secondary vitreous seeds显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of posterior sub-Tenon's carboplatin injection compared to intravitreal melphalan injection in the management of retinoblastoma(RB) with secondary vitreous seeds. The outcome measures were vitreous seeds regression, need for other treatment modalities to achieve ocular salvage and treatment side effects.METHODS: A prospective interventional comparative nonrandomized study included RB eyes developed secondary vitreous seeds during the period of follow up. They subdivided into two groups: study group I where posterior sub-Tenon's carboplatin(20 mg/2 m L) was injected and study group II where intravitreal melphalan(20 μg/0.1 m L) was injected. The injections repeated every 2-4 wk.RESULTS: Thirty-three eyes were included in the study. Seventeen eyes(16 patients) in study group I and 16 eyes(16 patients) in study group II. Ten eyes(30.3%) were completely salvaged following local chemotherapies. Ocular salvage was 23.5% following posterior sub-Tenon's carboplatin injection versus 37.5% following intravitreal melphalan raised to 47.1% and 75% with addition of external beam radiotherapy(EBR) with no statistically significant difference between the study groups(P=0.16). A statistically significant correlation was found between ocular salvage rate and type of vitreous seeds either dust, spheres and clouds(r=0.42, P=0.015) and eyes harbor new solid tumor growth(r=0.35, P=0.045). The mean and median follow up periods following local chemotherapy injections were 2.0 y in the study group I and 2.37 y in the study group II. Few complications were reported: periorbital edema in all eyes and ocular motility disturbances in 13 eyes(76.5%) following posterior sub-Tenon's carboplatin injection. Vitreous hemorrhage developed in 2 eyes(12.5%) and localized retinopathy in 5 eyes(31.25%) following intravitreal melphalan.CONCLUSION: Local chemotherapy for treatment of RB with secondary vitreous seeds is safe and can salvage 30.3% of eyes without EBR. 13Contralateral eye study of refractive,topographic and aberrometric outcomes after femtosecond assisted Myo Ring implantation and DALK for management of keratoconus显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the efficacy of femtosecond laser assisted MyoRing intrastromal corneal implant and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) for management of moderate to advanced keratoconus regarding the degree of changes in visual acuity, refraction, corneal asphericity and aberrations.METHODS:A prospective non comparative interventional case study was conducted in Ophthalmology Department,Ain Shams University Hospital in the period from January 2015 to February 2017. The study included 30 eyes of moderate to advanced keratoconus. MyoRing was implanted in one eye (Group Ⅰ) and DALK operation was performed in the contralateral eye of the same patient (Group Ⅱ).Preoperative and 6mo post-operative uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), spherical equivalent (SE), corneal and refractive astigmatisms,keratometry and Q-value using topography images were acquired. Quality of vision was assessed in all eyes including total corneal, anterior corneal high order aberrations analysis at 5 mm pupil size and the Strehl ratio of point spread function (PSF) as an objective measure of glare.RESULTS:Mean postoperative UCVA, CDVA, SE, refractive astigmatism,keratometryreadingsandasphericity were statistically improved compared to preoperative parameters in both groups (P<0.05). Significant reduction of all corneal aberrations following both techniques(P<0.05) was achieved except mean trefoil and mean PSF in Group Ⅰ (P>0.05). Postoperative corneal aberrations were significantly lower in Group Ⅱ compared to Group Ⅰ.A statistically significant negative correlation was found in Group Ⅰ between the mean change in CDVA (logMAR)and the mean preoperative and mean postoperative total corneal aberrations root mean square (RMS; r=-0.78,P=0.04). Also a statistically significant negative correlation was found between mean preoperative coma RMS and mean post PSF (r=-0.86, P=0.01). In Group Ⅱ, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between mean change in CDVA (logMAR) and mean change in Kmax(r=0.87, P=0.01) and between mean change in refractive cylinder and mean postoperative PSF (r=0.76, P=0.05).CONCLUSION:Femtosecond laser assisted MyoRing and DALK are effective in improving visual acuities, refraction,corneal asphericity and aberrations. MyoRing reduced spherical error more than the corneal cylinder. Post operative homogenous corneal surface and good image quality were achieved following both techniques compared to the preoperative state. 15A Dynamic Management Scheme for Internet of Things(IoT)Environments:Simulation and Performance Evaluation显示文摘In recent years,the Internet of Things(IoT)technology has been considered one of the most attractive fields for researchers due to its aspirations and implications for society and life as a whole.The IoT environment contains vast numbers of devices,equipment,and heterogeneous users who generate massive amounts of data.Furthermore,things’entry into and exit fromIoT systems occur dynamically,changing the topology and content of IoT networks very quickly.Therefore,managing IoT environments is among the most pressing challenges.This paper proposes an adaptive and dynamic scheme for managing IoT environments is proposed.This management scheme depends on the use of previous management methodologies,considering two main factors.The first factor is network status,which is determined in real-time.The second factor is a management method’s suitability according to its desired administration.To test the proposed management scheme,a simulation environment is created using NS3.The metrics used to measure the management scheme performance are bandwidth consumption,energy consumption,packet loss,throughput,delay,usage rate of individualmanagement techniques,and transformation.The simulation results prove that the proposed management scheme outperformed the individual 6LowPANSNMP,CoAP,and LWM2M management schemes.Omar Said 2022Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2022,,12:0
16A Reliable and Scalable Internet of Military Things Architecture显示文摘Recently,Internet of Things(IoT)technology has provided logistics services to many disciplines such as agriculture,industry,and medicine.Thus,it has become one of the most important scientific research fields.Applying IoT to military domain has many challenges such as fault tolerance and QoS.In this paper,IoT technology is applied on the military field to create an Internet of Military Things(IoMT)system.Here,the architecture of the aforementioned IoMT system is proposed.This architecture consists of four main layers:Communication,information,application,and decision support.These layers provided a fault tolerant coverage communication system for IoMT things.Moreover,it implemented data reduction methods such as filtering,compression,abstraction,and data prioritization queuing system to guarantee QoS for the transmitted data.Furthermore,it used decision support technology and IoMT application unification ideas.Finally,to evaluate the IoMT system,an intensive simulation environment is constructed using the network simulation package,NS3.The simulation results proved that the proposed IoMT system outperformed the traditional military system with regard to the performance metrics,packet loss,end-to-end delay,throughput,energy consumption ratio,and data reduction rate.Omar Said Amr Tolba 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,6:0
17The Digestive Surgery Department’s Activity Report during the COVID-19 Pandemic“Quarantine Period”显示文摘In this very particular moment through which we are living,it seems interesting to expose our own experience in taking digestive surgery patients.Emergency,oncological surgeries remained a priority.Functional surgery was deferred.On March 19,2020,the Interior Ministry declares a state of health emergency and restricted traffic in Morocco from Friday(March 20.2020)until further notice,and declares this as the only inevitable way to keep the coronavirus under control.Therefore,The Covid-19 pandemic is changing the organization of healthcare and has a direct impact on digestive surgery.Healthcare priorities and circuits are being modified.The Mohamed the VI university Hospital consists of 4 hospitals and two centers;during this period,Ibn Tofail Hospital was dedicated to surgical management(all specialties combined).In addition to public Hospitals and some Mohamed the VI University Hospitals were involved in the Covid patients care.This last had two poles of digestive surgery(two different hospitals),the first one was dedicated to Covid-19 patients,and latter one for non-Covid patients,the advantage of this second pole:different specialties with a surgical resuscitation and emergency intensive care unit.The precautions,taken,were given the large number of healthy carriers;it must be emphasized that protective measures must be used in the care of all personnel and patients.Surgical treatment of 625 patients(From 20 March to 10 June)was carried out in collaboration with the resuscitation department,radiology,gastroenterology,oncology,biological laboratory,anatomopathology,paramedical staff and mainly in responsibility sense of the university hospital direction and the ministry of health engagement.We detail the results below.The report purpose:there is probably an added risk due to the pandemic that must be balanced against the risk incurred by deferring surgery.Not only the Covid-19 caused death during this pandemic,also we must work hard to treat other pathologies which can be fatal.Hamri Asma Habbab Adil Boussaidane Said Boutajnouite Mehdi Daoudi Badre Mahmoud Amine Ounjif Omar Chanfir abderrahim Narjis Youssef Benelkhaiat Benomar Ridouan Youssef Elouardi El Khiari Mina Mohamed Khallouki 2020Journal of US-China Medical Science2020,17,6:0

19A Life Cycle Cost Analysis Model of Goods Movement for the Gulf Cooperation Council Region显示文摘In this article,a total life cycle cost analysis(LCCA)was developed covering two transportation systems:trucking and railway within the Gulf Cooperation Council(GCC)region.GCC region is a regional intergovernmental political and economic union consists of six countries(Saudi Arabia,Kuwait,the United Arab Emirates,Qatar,Bahrain,and Oman).In general and based on statistics,the GCC regional economy is expected to grow due to the increase in aggregate supply and demand.So,there is a need to build a solid foundation of transportation systems that can help in transforming this region into a logistics hub.Therefore,different analysis was discussed in order to be able to select more reliable and appropriate mode of shipping between the GCC.Beside the main cost factors that which includes the capital,operational,maintenance and depreciation costs.Other factors such as,border delays,emissions,noise and safety factors were added to the analysis.The results show that,shipping using trucking system can be cheaper when shipping commodities between the GCC region,but at the same time considering border delays and emission produced,railways and intermodal modal systems prove to be more reliable.Moreover,shipping bulk commodities favor the rail and intermodal systems due to the payload capacity besides the flexibility of finding the most efficient way to move the shipments between origin and destinations.Hasan Tayyeb Abd El Halim Omar Abd El Halim Said Easa 2022Journal of Civil Engineering and Architecture2022,16,11:0
20Naked Eye and Selective Detection of Copper(II) in Mixed Aqueous Media Using a Cellulose-based Support显示文摘A new colorimetric sensor based-azo dye for Cu^2+ detection was synthesized and characterized by FTIR and NMR spectroscopies. The results showed that the azo dye had a high selective and sensitive recognition toward Cu^2+. The solution containing the sensor changed color from pink to pale yellow with a hypsochromic shift in the presence of Cu^2+. The sensor selectivity and sensitivity toward Cu^2+ ions were investigated by colorimetry and UV-Vis spectroscopy. For practical applications, a cellulosic textile test strip for high-selectivity detection of Cu^2+ ions in aqueous solution was developed using the synthesized azo dye as chromogenic chemosensor molecule, while using a solid cellulose textile as a substrate.
